QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) Still no word on Cease being scratched. Here's more from WSD https://mobile.twitter.com/barstoolWSD/stat...244517623922690 Just feels like if he was scratched for a trade we'd already be hearing something.

2017-18 official NBA discussion thread
bmags replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Yeah but what could that 3.5 million turn into? -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 05:55 PM) s***, would anyone be shocked if this Braves talk turned in Rodon instead of Q? All the sudden the framework ends up being Rodon for Acuna or something? Not my preferred time to trade Rodon, coming off an injury and a few starts.

Did Reinsdorf sell Bulls Draftee to sign Jake Burger?
bmags replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, this is discussed all of the time. Those fans are absolute morons. -
Has Q been bad on extended rest?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) Praise the lord. I am going Sat and Sunday and avoid Jimmy Shields. I have been to way too many of his starts. Of course, the too many number could be 1 for most. I think I have been to about 6 or 7. The only time he was decent was vs the Cubs last year. I had a similar run with Hector Noesi

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) McConnell is going to do everything he can to pass it while the world is distracted by Russia. Probably true but to be honest there is something strange about giving the responsibility to whip to Ted Cruz. Like he's just trying to prevent a revolt to his right, but knows he's toast. But I'll never underestimate after the house the ability for people with deep concerns over a bill to vote for it because of some token gesture.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) And it wasn't Q. That was sort of taken out of context by many. It was a Hahn quote from Soxfest when someone asked him about trade timing. He said he had something that he thought would be done on Christmas Eve that didn't happen. I'm thinking it's Robertson to the Nats, because a couple of months later Hahn said there hasn't been anything close with Q. That's a good point.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell
bmags replied to username's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) @jonmorosi Anthony Swarzak is a sleeper trade candidate. He's having career year with #WhiteSox, will be free agent after '17; 1.00 WHIP in 41 IP. @MLB Sorry posting from my phone That honestly looks better than the embed function so good work! -
I really dislike the Jim M. "deep sigh, why do I have to write about this" genre of articles. https://www.southsidesox.com/2017/7/12/1595...ir-delivery-too

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) It's the Astros and Braves really Yeah I forgot about Braves. Their SBnation was brutal.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 09:29 AM) Braves fans seem to want to steer clear of Quintana. Hypothetically speaking, it is interesting to consider what we would be willing to give up from our own farm system for Quintana if we were a contender? I'm sure the ask would be steep, but we do have the farm to pull a deal off now. Ha, that's kind of impossible to answer. "If we were a contender" would mean to me we had some great pieces on our roster and the same farm? I guess I'd hope to get away with it by trading Robert, Collins and like Jordan Stephens.
-
I thought the Pirates/Yankees fan bases rated him appropriately. Completely unsurprised most think they can get him with trash as that is typical, we do it too. Astros fans were the harshest, but it seemed to be coming from complete confidence that all of their prospects were awesome, which, I would hope is the case since we are trying to acquire theirs. Haven't met a rockies fan in my life and haven't seen much from brew crew.

QUOTE (MEANS @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:51 AM) The Repubs might just leave the ACA alone for now, the premiums are supposed to go up right before the 2018 elections, which they then could use to their advantage. THey have the house, senate, and presidency. They ran on fixing this issue. Waiting until it gets worse after they sabatoged it is not a message they should be able to plan on capitalizing on.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) Would anyone argue Aaron Judge was completely unavailable this past offseason despite his poor results last year? Or Joey Gallo, for example? What do you mean?
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) The only thing that has me a bit hesitant is that trade rumors/talks have been pretty hot like this before where you thought it would be any moment only to fall apart. I get the sense they have progressed a little further than those previous talks did but you never know. True. My take below! The previous hot moments were signals of other teams pursuing Q. This info has been a signal of sox prepping to trade Q. Subtle difference, but it appears Sox feel offers are getting close and want to move him, no longer holding back as leverage.
-
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) After so many months of Quintana being on the market, I would imagine a deal could come together very quickly at this point. Once the Sox receive an acceptable offer, they will courtesy contact each suitor and inform them an acceptable offer has been made and that it is time to get in your final offers. Not sure what stage we are at right now though? Is this just more interest, or is a deal close? Probably true, but this set of teams seems somewhat different. I think the signal we are hearing is from sox, that yes, he's being moved, put in yr offers.

QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) Anyone else hoping Rick had put in the last call to teams? Sort of. Evening would be most convenient for me.
-
I honestly wouldn't worry. We now have seen our own players turn it around after subpar starts (Adolfo/Adams), and cool down after hot starts (Anderson/Fulmer). Dansby swanson went from can't miss multi-all star to sophomore slump. It's reassuring when there is just linear progression like Kris Bryant, but it's uncommon. Gotta just believe in a talent like Brinson. As for age/clock, I'm not really concerned. He'd be with us until 2023/4? Anyone with a clock just starting is enough time. I'd say anyone with 4 years or less is a tougher call, unless truly transcendent talent.
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:07 PM) We can be reasonably confident that whatever Hahn gets for Quintana is gonna be the best possible package. He's been shopping him hard for like ten months. It might be less than we wish, but it's safe to say it'll be the market rate. Just have to hope our scouts pick right package
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:51 PM) Adams has really picked up the K rate this season. Actually, the same can be said for Guerrero. Both have been impressive and should finish the season at Charlotte. Especially so after the first month this year.
-
QUOTE (gosoxtim8 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:14 PM) don't we have luis robert locked in at center fireld? If there is a type to hoard, it's super athletic fast players and power arms. We'll find a place if they are good.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:56 PM) Potentially, although I'd be hesitant to give up on Anderson at SS just yet, I mean we've seen him be a plus SS at the major-league level. This year has been a big setback alright. I'm just not sure the bat will play unless he's the SS defender we saw last year. I know Albies had light power but I don't think 3b is going to be hard for Albies defensively.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 07:45 PM) Albies is my favourite of the potential headliners. Blocked at 2B by Moncada, but wouldn't think he's blocked at SS by Anderson after his year, contract or no. Albies, Soroka and Rio Ruiz gets it done for me. Excellent. Welcome to the Albies train.
