  1. It kind of scares me that the process is so personal. Basically, when Herm goes, we lose this. It's just people trusting him and him being organized and responsible. That's an incredible heap of praise, but you'd like something a bit more institutional. It kind of seems the same with Coop. He just seems to have a great eye/emphasis on getting pitchers out when their mechanics get out of whack.
  2. Good god, I was about to be a little relieved to go from Flynn to Petraeus, a man who legitimately compromised the states secrets for his mistress, only to find out that this ridiculous man can lie to the public about something as big as thsi with zero repercussions.
  3. As a fan it's kind of hard to know what to make of injury concerns like that anyway. If it means he can't stay past the 5th inning, then okay, move to pen. If they are like tim lincecum, I mean, ride it and hope they don't get injured. But what are you supposed to do with a probability like that?
  4. It's an interesting list, but I wonder how many actual GMs would trade Moncada straight up for JP Crawford.
  5. I feel like very rarely do we hear of trades that move into the stalemate category move back into the "close to done". This article made sense, I'm buying it. Easier to give up prospects for relievers when you know you have a contender, know basically what the reliever will do, and know that playoff wins are valued highly. Harder with Robertson now, where we don't have much certainty what he is. I like that Kieboom trade but I'm fine with waiting. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/david-rober...ver-volatility/
  6. It's also not what the ruling said. Pushing the idea that the branch was legislating for them is equally dangerous. The ruling was largely that they were incompetent, and if they are going to claim national security it needs to be reviewable in some fashion.
  7. Watching Hoiberg I'm gaining respect for VDN, who was horrible at managing timeouts, but his teams largely looked like a real offense in two different stops.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 06:29 AM) Trump discussed matters of national security regarding North Korea this weekend in front of civilians at Mar A Lago. Must be more of these great things Brett was talking about While I will generally push back against the "save your energy for the important things" takes, this is one of those things that should really be taken seriously and pushed back on in a sustained and universal way. But I think this one requires universal dem official action vs. organic/grassroots stuff.

If you want to know who will win album of the year or record of the year just look at the sales. This isn't new. Grammys cares about selling records, the Oscars has a similar incentive sometimes, but largely swerves for more prestige (see Hurt Locker over Avatar). I get people find the show of it more interesting, but I swear I've run into better performances randomly on AMA than Grammys which , as has been said, is full of awful medley and duo ideas.
  10. Could be, could be more that agent heard rumors of a sale trade and was just prepping him in case. The post-mortems were pretty thorough from Boston media and seemed to indicate it was just haggling out of backend of Moncada/Kopech. If you think that is just because not talking about potential trades with players on roster, that's fair, but with the Yankees trades with the cubs we know they were offered that A/B deal between Jiminez or Torres. Haven't heard that with Sale trade in final days.

It's for coloring book, his third mixtape. He wears it a lot, I think it's on the cover of that album too.
  12. The #Nats and #Whitesox appeared close to a David Robertson trade early in week but now at a stalemate as camps open http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...assic/97834948/
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) I don't get how a guy like Phillips has so little trade value, all though it goes a long way towards explaining again why certain guys are still on the White Sox. I'm sure a lot of it had to do with bidding being muted with his no trade clause and enforcement of it.
  14. It's just continuing to double down on this antiquated offense. It is the epitome of digging yourself a deeper hole. That said I would be personally rooting for Okafor.
  15. To get rid of Brandon Phillips, the reds are paying near all salary and apparently getting little back.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 11, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) ? Maybe you mean Kopech, but I'm pretty sure Cooper has said he's less familiar with Lopez than the other big name prospects they've acquired. And I know he said he wasn't sure if Lopez was a starter or a reliever yet. No, JJ Cooper.
  17. Was not surprised to see Giolito ranking as Cooper often says he likes Lopez more than him.
  18. He also has two first names, in surprised DA would not be in favor considering other fandom.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 11, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) The guy who set a record for plate appearances and having 0 RBI. How do you make 141 plate appearances in a season and not get 1 RBI? Yes him. He's good defensively and with pitchers. And would likely be cheap to acquire. Not sure we need a long term solution, and it's not like narvaez couldn't use more time in the minors. He made a huge jump.
  20. If Wieters goes back to baltimore in a weird signing, I wonder if we could get Caleb Joseph.
  21. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 11:32 PM) Zero titles and they were only "good" or free spending until after the hard cap was introduced in hockey. Oh, and he fleeced a bankrupt city for TWO free facilities. This isn't true. Ilitch financed at least 60% of the cost to build Comerica. Detroit pitched in $80 million, but will end up being 120 million or so over 30 years. Little Caesars arena is getting quite a bit more, but will also house the Pistons, who I can't find if they are pitching in a dime. The state is financing no more than $450 million for that stadium. The total cost is $750 million, and the Ilitch's are financing another $200 million in development around the stadium. It also moves the pistons from the suburbs back to Detroit. He also moved his business to headquarter in Detroit and spent a lot of money revitalizing Detroit. Yes, he's getting financed, but that's not free.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 10, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) So is Trump saying he plans on drafting a newer, shinier travel ban that he will sign next week? This one will probably stick. So much of the decision against this was regarding the incompetence and communications of Trump. There is a lot of area to make immigration restrictions, if they eff this up again, it will be incredible.
  23. Didn't we used to have a good gif for Levine?
  24. Yeah obviously with Bourjos and Soto we'll need the space and not sure I've paid enough attention before if they preemptively make space for probable major leaguers on minor league deals... but hope it means something more exciting than that.
  25. Trump hasn't done anything for health care reform yet, and will require 60 votes to pass meaningful replacement. Good luck, you aren't close yet.
