  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) You know, a major dam is failing in California and there has not been one word from that administration. Not one. This is a moment when they should be out front, trying to ease concern of displaced US citizens, promising emergency disaster relief, help from national guard and army corps of engineers if needed, and we get silence. Spicer instead goes out and makes the lies even worse by creating contradictions from previous statements because YOLO FEMA looks like it is doing a good job coordinating federally, thankfully. I wonder if Fugate is still in charge.
  2. Good for Chaffetz.
  3. I bet Wieters signs for more than we expect.
  4. It's just scary for the biggest reason, at some point something terrible will happen. Their tactic of just lying like crazy to get out of a bad news cycle will come home to roost when people can't trust them for vital information.
  5. QUOTE (pablo @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) Agreed, makes more sense to re-evaluate at this point. Plus they have Wacha who was going to battle Reyes for this 5th spot in ST. They have 6 guys off the top of my head currently. Sign a cheap FA (not sure who is left) and see what you have in a couple of months. Martinez Waino Leake Lynn Wacha Weaver Yeah you may as well roll with that and hope for health. That's not a bad rotation but it's hard to know since everyone in NL has an ERA under 3.8 it seems like.

QUOTE (MEANS @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) Yes, he won, so your counter doesn't make sense. His point is that he doesn't sell his music, he gives it away for free and is not on any label. Adele won album of year and record of year, my whole post was about album of the year and record of the year that he responded to. Chance was not even nominated for either.
  7. If I were Cards I'd probably pull back rather than go for it. Maybe start dialogue around a Miguel Gonzalez or something.
  8. My gut reaction is to root against hte cardinals, but news like this sucks no matter the team. I'm hoping it's precaution over a physical issue that's minor, but be it if it's a significant injury, just sucks to see players hit issues like this right before they are about to make it. edit: clarified after more info came out indicating this is likely due to physical issue.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Right, but The Suburbs certainly deserved it. It was a good album, I'd have given it to Fame Monster.
  10. That was also the best catching question I've seen thrown at Hahn, great interview by Ballantini.
  11. I'll believe it when I see more than letters of concern. Like, I don't know, voting against something.
  12. That last paragraph is GREAT. Highly recommend reading that

I mean look at this garbage list. They have actually made a concerted effort to be more relevant, I think prompted by that Allison Krauss/Plant AOTY. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_...bum_of_the_Year It sticks out like a sore thumb when they actually get a relevant album, though recently the pop tastes have aligned a lot more than they used to in music.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) The only exception that I can think of is when Arcade Fire won several years back, and that pissed off a bunch of people who didn't know who they were. Yeah, it did debut at #1 though in US/Canada/UK, it pushed quite a few records.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 01:29 AM) Let me know how many records Chance has sold. He won album/record of the year? No? Okay bye.
  16. Subscribing to the WaPo was best thing I've done. Makes the tribune subscription all the more disappointing. Really find the tribune corp (la times/trib/etc) to be pretty subpar, but mainly you can just tell everyone is stretched so thin.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 07:03 PM) May have just been 5-10 rights. It was. The Braves honoring a subset of that is likely why he accepted.
  18. Luckily there are laws against that.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Conservatives Take A Hard Line On Obamacare Repeal, Putting GOP In A Bind tl;dr the House Freedom Caucus is demanding basically a full repeal of Obamacare with little replacement. That action, which would include removing the Medicaid expansion, is DOA in the Senate unless they blow up the entire filibuster and even then there's a possibility it couldn't pass there and in the House. I really doubt that Collins, Alexander and Paul will all go along with that in Senate, and would bet that it would not even pass the house.
  20. This article from WaPo is pretty amazing/crazy: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/uph...m=.602ac0c9c74f The effect of cable news coverage/SNL on the president is so crazy, but crazier are the stories of aides shuffling around personalities trying to gain favor. While Trump himself seems to be set to chaos mode all the time, it is more than a little worrying what this looks like in an actual crisis. Sure, he can fight back against narratives when it seems he's sinking, but what happens when a part of the country is about to go under water. What do we get then.
  21. I'm not sure I'd put Mnuchin as a tier 1 threat. His confirmation hearings actually showed a stable, well-informed person, which stood out like crazy. More, he just seems like standard Republican fare. That's not to say that can't have huge consequences, we've seen that, but when you are sitting next to the clown car of serial domestic abusers, ethics violators and idiots, standard fodder seems like a huge improvement.
  22. I hope it's Harward.
  23. Good. I hope someone serious about the job can take his place. And it's investigated. Flynn was among the scariest brought to a high position, also probably the stupidest.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 03:52 PM) I have no idea how much Herm has replicated himself, but at least with Cooper we know that he has created a lot of other pitching coaches through the minors, and even a guy like Nieves. Great point.
