  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) Maybe something was said after the shooting where the officers were discussing how to cover it up and what to say Would also provide what verbal directives were given to McDonald. We all at least assume he actually was told to drop the knife. What if even that wasn't true?
  2. There was a document dump last night showing all of the other police interviews. Hint: they all lies.
  3. So true. Life is so hard for that group. So persecuted.
  4. Gotcha, yeah I think this is just lottery ticket and one I'm glad to hap. He may just be Drabek pt. 2 but I'm happy to take those in every year. Gotta hit once.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Ha. I was just responding to DA about how Brad Penny was supposedly competing for the rotation last spring as well. In Turner's case their is no upside, but their is zero chance this team has currently earmarked Turner for a rotation spot. That said, they view him as depth and sure, he could show he's healthy and has all of the stuff that once made him a top prospect / effective big leaguer (and he's still very young) but I think it is more likely we see him in the pen. That said, if his stuff is back, I'd have different opinions and I'm not clear as to how much injuries truly impacted him the past two years. ?
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) Abreu is 5 letters... My god.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Lower rates would actually not stop inflation and would serve to accelerate it unless something else was going on. Higher rates are used to tame inflation, ala the early 1980's. The combination of high unemployment and high inflation would probably mean a real recession as it isn't easy to fix one without screwing up the other. Right, this is my point though. We have low unemployment and below target inflation, and everyone has been chomping at the bit to raise rates. Basically, the fed has a dual mandate but only cares about inflation.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) The fluff version is he is competing for a job, the reality is, it's a long shot he is in the rotation on opening day. He pitched in 2 minor league games this season, and his major league NL ERA was over 6.00 in 2014. Exactly. Do you remember the hard sell Hahn gave on Brad Penny last offseason?
  9. Four letter first and last-names have done well on sox, fyi. Jose Abreu, Joey Cora. Good sign, imo.

That sounds intense. Luther's openers are the scariest things I watch. I've gotten many a nightmares from that face licker and the attic one. God, the attic one.
  11. If like, Jason Coats could land us Nova, wouldn't you do it?

    2015 Films thread

You don't get credit for simply reimagining a character. You get credit if you do that and its good. His interpretation looks like an inside joke.
  13. If inflation and unemployment were really high, would you lower the rates to counteract the unemployment?
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) No, it is driven by the people who put guns as their top or only political priority. The Colorado recalls a couple of years back are an excellent example of this: a small but very dedicated minority of voters can control elections especially when there is low turnout. Most people supported something at least as strong as the gun law put forth by Manchin after Sandy hook At the national level, you also have the unequal representation in both the house and Senate that favors rural and conservative policies inherently. Right, but this is a problem on the left. There is no voting bloc. There is no issue that people are so passionate enough that they'll vote for local candidates on, not just talk about a president who believes in 80% of things that won't get acted on.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) If it were to hit the roof, is it still a catchable ball? Not that it would happen but if it did..... This probably would have come up in the Dallas Cowboys new stadium thing. I'm pretty sure if the punt (main concern) hit the scoreboard it was live.
  16. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Dec 4, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) Going to be a while until we see him play, per Wojnarowski: "After meeting with specialists in Los Angeles, the Chicago Bulls' Mike Dunleavy is expected to need four-to-six weeks of additional rehabilitation on his back before he can be cleared to return for on-court work, league sources told Yahoo Sports." I expect a feb. announcement of him retiring, to be honest.
  17. Who are the people that really run this country? The reason gun laws don't change is the NRA membership is active and devoted and will only vote for officials who are very pro-gun. If the people that favored gun control were actually equally as passionate and voted as a bloc you would see a much different situation. They don't though. They just rely on bloomberg's money.
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 11:15 PM) What would camera audio do? Is the mic powerful enough to pick up noise outside the car? I am not certain what the great expectation is there. I think the video tells the whole story what more is needed? Would like to hear the dialogue of the officers on the scene if possible.
  19. Here's the thing, Emmanuel's position, to me, sustains a cover up. I don't think he would squash an ongoing investigation into a police murder if it was being honestly investigated. The problem was it just was never investigated to begin with and he did not overturn that behavior. And we all know the incentives here (you can see it in the fraternal order of the police statement above), any statements or investigations that indicate a single police officer acted wrongly is apparently an idictment on the whole police.
  20. You can say that for any coach. He was one of the top coordinator hires lsat year and when he joined there was immediate talk of him being Pinkel's replacement. They probably did not realize that would happen so soon. It's hard to let someone go you think is going to be a great head coach just because you would prefer they work 2 more years. There's no guarantee he'd come back from memphis.
  21. I think Rhodes would have preferred Odom with 1-2 more years as a DC or head coach at a smaller program, but its clear this staff saw him as a future HC and went with him. That D had a lot of talent, but they also were top 15 with one of the worst offenses in division 1 in terms of holding TOP and field position.
  22. Barry Odom is new Missouri head coach. I hope he keeps coach Kuligowski as DC and fires josh henson
