If J4L watched bulls games like he watches other NBA teams: Taj Gibson is straight BALLIN. If he keeps hitting these jumpers he may take crown for GREATEST POWER FORWARD EVER

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 11:14 PM) apparently, it's true... participated in shoot around today http://www.suntimes.com/sports/25113944-57...d-shooting.html Speaking of, there's been a lot of press recently about how odd it is NFL athletes have recently been able to cut rehab times in half (see Crabtree, Michael), and even Kobe, known to be an athlete on "cutting edge" of medical science made ridiculous return. Meanwhile we haven't seen these for olympic athletes who have a very strict testing regimen. Derrick Rose really seems to have been on a normal person's recovery time. So, ethically, if you didn't have to know about it, would you have preferred some of the NFL treatments found their way to Rose and we get to watch him play, or prefer that we avoid cheating.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 11:03 PM) It will cost them more in terms of money or talent the longer they wait to address it. But if we aren't going to make the playoffs next year, why artificially inflate several victories and drop team out of lower draft spot? That would get us cheaper talent in the long run, and would allow us to wait even longer.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) So far in conference play, Missouri is 2-3, Oregon is 1-4, and UNLV is 2-3. I thought Illinois played over their head in non conference play, but I guess their opponents just weren't as good as advertised. As far as I'm concerned, Missouri doesn't have a basketball team. -
Give me Zito Oswalt Santana and a time machine, please.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) Hell of a match by Radwanska taking out Azarenka, some big time shots. Federer up two sets to one over Murray with an epic 2nd game going on, up to 26 points. Radwanska was incredible. That last set was insane, Azarenka just couldn't do anything that wasn't returned with an amazing shot. Which is great because I don't have to hear Azarenka's mario kart yelps. Looking forward to the semis. Great Aussie open.

So I'm guessing Paxson has smoothed things over with Thibs by these Augustin and Mike James signings. Nobody loves anything more than Thibs loves Mike James.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) If Theo is good at anything, it is back-breakingly bad FA contracts Was going to say, if there was anything Theo is terrible at it's contracts like these. They dodged a bullet.
-
Man, I'd say that's a terrible contract but what does it matter for them.
-
I forgot actual draft was postponed 2 weeks. Ugh.
-
What an incredible waste of my time.

I'm just glad Ferrer is out. I'm sure he wins matches somewhere to get that ranking, but not in opens I watch.

This is the worst.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:46 PM) Being a woman was just as much of a "lie" as having those degrees/job history. Even if she thought of herself as a woman her entire life, she didn't live as a woman all of her life. She was a male mechanic for years. Not a female scientist. And again, it's the truth! Why would we want reporters to suppress the truth just because it might embarrass someone? When has that ever been a good reason? I mean, no.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 12:05 AM) I think Simmons' piece is very-well done and I agree with just about all of it. Christina Kahrl's piece, on the other hand, is a bit ridiculous. I'm trying to think about the relationship between the fact that Vanderbilt was a transgender person and the fact that that's also what threw Caleb Hannan off her scent. I find them almost inseparable and therefore necessary to the story. I said as much Saturday. Do we, as a society, have a ways to go when it comes to accepting and learning to properly respect transgender people? Yes, absolutely. I think about the progress made with gay and lesbian folks and think about that same progress when it comes to transgender people. On the other hand, this trend we also seem to have as a society to celebrate faux outrage and morality dick-measuring contests is also quite bothersome. We're all so quick to trip over each other in an attempt to see who can be the most morally or politically correct Mother Theresa, and that usually happens shortly after the first person stands up and begins imparting blame (as we saw in this case). Frankly, if it took 56 hours for someone to do so, and then turned into an all-out cascade of criticism, I find that pretty compelling evidence. I shudder to think we may enter an age in publishing where a writer can't report an interesting story without fear of somehow offending someone for something. I disagree. I think Karhl's piece was very informative, but she made a mistake in how aggressive the first few paragraphs were (which may have turned you off). The last half of the article is very interesting in the history of transexual therapy and illuminates the issue well. If the advice you've heard once the transformation occurs is to start a new life, you can see how far the rabbit hole would go (especially if they have "conman" tendencies). The piece was compelling but could draw you down the line of everything is connected. And I think the narrative kind of pushed this idea that gender was one more thing she was conning everyone on. To include the gender switch as an important part of the story to include, they needed really good execution and understanding which they did not do. I appreciated Simmons sincere and honest apology (not "I'm sorry if you were offended") and Kahrl's interesting piece.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) Then the Deng trade makes no sense unless they really felt they were better without Deng. If Rose comes back and Deng is not there, what happens. Could the Bulls reacquire Deng at the deadline? The Deng and Teague trades put the Bulls comfortably below the luxury tax. That is why they traded him. They specifically avoid the repeater tax and are, once again, hoping for a big fa offseason.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 04:33 PM) Agreed. R.I.P. #teamtank November 13 - January 14 Really sad about Teague trade. I was developing an amazing musical modeled after the producers where bulls brass realizes a flop season could get them more success than a hit, and the only way to pull it off was to utilize Teague's unique ability to make team worse. Tank Commander Teague was really gonna be somethin. Alas.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) So the Score can't even get Tanaka's tweet right, unless Bernstein's source told them he made a decision. Bernstein retweeted the hardballtimes article stating the mistranslation of the tweet so I'm guessing this is the score's info (yes I know your Bernstein sources line was a joke)

Nova lost? I'm going all in on Eugenie Bouchard. First and second set I keep wondering how she is hanging around, her shots have no power, she's basically defensive the whole time. Then third set came along and she's smoking the ball. Glad the heat settled down. That was brutal, and the third and fourth sets were unwatchable.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 02:59 AM) I'm done with the bulls***. I love my team too much. There's no chance in the Bulls getting in the lottery, so I'm done hoping they lose. This team is playing great against the Wizards. Go Bulls. Get those wins. Jimmy, get those buckets. DJ do yo thang. I'm in same boat now. We could lose out at this point and still not be a top 5 lottery team. DJ Augustin has been a really fun watch, and Noah has been great. Amazing how silent the Noah hate has become once he actually recovered from his injury.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:52 PM) I would just like to say that I told everyone the Pistons would suck fat f***ing balls this year. So inefficient. Half the Bulls' preseason roster is still way better. Yeah, I'm a little surprised honestly. I am basically in awe that franchises such as Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Detroit who are honestly trying to win this year and are doing so poorly in the worst conference in a decade. I mean, I know Milwaukee has absolutely the most awful lineup ever put on paper, but the fact that they are the worst when they are trying and teams that aren't trying are better is truly phenomenal.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 20, 2014 -> 07:55 PM) The only reason he has a "better overall record of performance" is because he's played 6 extra seasons (well, 6 1/2 since this season isn't done and Kobe is barely playing due to injury), generally with much better teammates. Well frankly one of the traits of all of those all time players is how they kept their high play even when their athleticism went away. All of them provided nearly as many memorable moments after thirty as before. Bird was only one who really broke down quickly.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) Was it that massive one near the Leafs stadium? I can't remember the name, but i've never seen more tv's. Its been rated as the best sports bar in the world a few times. Naw just one near a restaurant we were going to. It was fun and a good game. That country is so pumped for Olympic hockey.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 09:28 PM) I'm not sure why he would want to go to LA or NY.. The media is nuts there and he will have a lot of pressure on him I think.. I feel like us and DBacks would be the best options for him. People from outside US know two cities: NY and LA. AMD LA sports media isn't really that difficult.

I mean...what's confusing me is are teams still actively bidding? Seems like Tanaka has received bids and is home not thinking about it while stories are out of teams new approaches to sign him.
