One thing about the Sox , and their media that’s left, is they will only even point to their successes in relation to their previous failures. Their only benchmark is to themselves. In that respect, going 41-121 was one of their greatest accomplishments. Because now, in the middle of a 3rd straight 100 loss season, they can point to last year and say “haha oh my gosh we’ve already scored as many runs as last year!” Meanwhile they’re 7 games back from the third worst record in the league. At some point, the Sox will need to say “I’m trying to compete with the best in mlb” not “I’m trying to marginally improve over myself each year”

see a lot of these, and I think they are supposed to create this feeling of “wow we are so much better than last year!” But it hits different when last year we were one of the worst offenses in the 150 year history of baseball and has 41 wins. We could have rolled the exact same team back and struggled to hit marks that bad. This team is 100% more enjoyable, and I’m happy for our young hitters, but we’ll be clawing to hit 61 wins. 61 wins for any other franchise is horrific, and for us it’s being repackaged as incredible just because of our record setting ineptitude.

Uh yeah I didn't call him stupid as a person, though he may be. I said he was dumb at baseball, which he is. He may be playing from behind with worse instincts, but when instincts are really bad, the team needs to beat common rules into you that become automatic. Like "put your foot on the edge of first base when catching the ball". There's definitely a range of quality with baseball instincts among common ball players, but nearly all of them remember that rule.

I normally don't miss a moment to point fingers at Sox for being so complacent at everything, especially PD, compared to Peers (they only judge whether they are improving against themselves, even if they are still light years behind other teams). But Vaughn will always be a loser to me. Him getting sent down was still a highlight of the year. I hope he comes back to earth eventually and sucks. He was supposed to elevate that core, they believed in him, he was lazy and stubborn and sucks. Good riddance.

Something that sucks right now is the media all deciding Caleb sucks, and obviously his camp has not been inspiring, and roughtly 100% of the time in my life when the media says a bears QB sucks and I say "they are dumb" they have been right so I'm bracing for it again.

I do wish Getz felt a little worse about how the guy in the majors who has been in our org since he was 16 (all under Getz) seems the most dumb at baseball.

last year I remember listening to Mully and Haugh or maybe some inside the clubhouse where Haugh stepped in. The question was who had a better looking future, Colson or PCA. At the time, both were scuffling. PCA not doing much in majors or AAA, and Colson scuffling in AAA. By the time there was a question on here on Colson in April, I damn near wrote that it wasn't even worth thinking about Colson anymore. It was so disappointing. But others kept hope and pointed out the one thing he did well was a really good thing to have. he hits the s%*# out of the ball. And that's true, and it was what helped. The beauty of baseball is it keeps surprising you. That said, I can't remember debuts this strong since Trayce Thompson and Gordon Beckham. Baseball.

Power is hard to get. We have very little home run power in our org. Not that concerned about re-signing a RH bat only guy in 4 years. For trading Robert, who apparently we would decline an option on, being able to acquire plausible power for the corners where we are shockingly decrepit at providing, I think it's a good bet.
