  1. QUOTE(mwolfson @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) I know Ozzie and Kenny are trying to keep the offensive problems on the down-low but everyone knows the offense isn't very good and leaders such as Paulie have not stepped up to plate to help. Frankly we just don't put up enough runs sometimes. In addition, pitching is always needed and right now we have no clear-cut closer so relief help would greatly be appreciated... 15 of 16 not good enough for you in save opps??
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) Not this season. Huff hasn't been great so far this year. So far your right, however he's hitting .333 this month and he's been fantastic from June on in his career. Huff is a great, great hitter and I stick by my original remark he'd be the best hitter we have minus Frank.
  3. Huff isn't a platoon player. If he was on the Sox he'd be our best hitter not named Frank Thomas.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) No, Shingo retired 28 straight batters. Good for a hidden perfect game.... 26.2 INNINGs wouls be almost 3 straight perfect games. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Oh gawd, wow, yeah I meant he had 26.2 straight scoreless innings, yeesh I don't know wtf I was thinking. This is what happens when you go to sleep at 8:30 in the morning
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) Didn't Shingo have a hidden perfect game or something last season? Oh how I miss the good Shingo of last season. 26.2 innings of perfect ball last year for shingo, missed it by one stinkin out.
  6. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Chris Carpenter pitched a CG shutout against the Blue Jays yesterday, giving up only one hit and one walk. His WHIP is now 1.21, so I'll be expecting him to crack the Top 20 when I update this thread in a couple weeks. Chris might be the best-kept secret in all of baseball right now. Last year as well. He's been fantastic the last two years.
  7. Jugg, neither Koney or Huff are platoon players. The end.
  8. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) if i had to bet, i'd say garland's era will be closer to 4.50 than it will be to 3.50 by year's end. I'd bet ya on that.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) did anyone think we would ever try to compare prior and Garland before this season started. Come on guys, you know prior is a better pitcher, he has been unjured, but his ERA is still sick, and he got hit with a damn ball, it could happen to anyone. I would take him over Garland every day of the week. He will have an ERA under 3 for the next 5 years at least. He also pitches in the N.L. while Garland pitches in the A.L. at the cell. Don't get me wrong Prior is one hell of a pitcher when healthy but there's the problem he's never healthy. Garland has proven to be durable while Prior has been proven to be the opposite.
  10. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) But here is my new sig Very Cool
  11. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 07:59 AM) its such a crapshoot, there is some talk that hansen may be in the bigs at teh end of the year, but if i had to guess i would seriously doubt it. that said, he will probably be in the bigs faster than anyone else, but id add gordon. i think hes absolutely a stud. think about pelfrey too I really think Hansen will be in the majors before the end of the year so I'd definitely consider putting him in and then I'd also go with Clement just because a catcher with some serious power, dumb reasoning I know but that's who I'd go with.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) I'm not really in love with Tracey, though it seems I might be -- but like you said, I think he can be a somewhat important piece to a bigger/better deal. I'm not in love with him either, not as high on him as others but with his stuff and solid numbers(fantastic before his last 2 starts) he'd definitely be someone other gm's would be interested in.
  13. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) They do world vs US but Gio was born here and lives here. He wouldn't be eligible for the world team. Interesting, I did not know that, thanks for the info. Jas, I remember Morneau was in the game either last year or in 03 when he already had been in the majors for a bit so that really shouldn't be an issue. But I'm with you I have not seen Gio pitch a real game, I've only see his scouting video and I'd love to have the opportunity to see him pitch.
  14. I'd throwup if Tracey was traded for Castilla. Tracey is a good solid prospect and could be the center piece of a deal to get a very good player imo.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) I'd go with that. However, they could grab Gio for the world team or however it works (Isn't that how they do it sometimes?). In 03 it was Cotts and Ring so it doesn't necessarily have to be a world and a usa guy. I'd go with Anderson and Bmac too they seem like the most likely candidates, however if they do want a world guy from the sox it'd have to be Gio.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) This coming from a guy who started a trade for A-Rod, and a trade for Omar Vizquel thread? On the basis of, his opinion? And now Nomar? Unbelievable... Mueller has only had one good year? News to me. Since '96, his lowest OBP has been .333, while over his career he has averaged a .374 OBP. He's posted OPS+ of 140, 124, 120, 110, 109, and 106 -- only twice dipping below league average. Please... think a little before you type. He comes up with big hits too and is just a tough out, period. I know you guys love it when I throw around this word but Mueller is clutch.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) How about his entire career? He had an exceptional 2003 season, but that shouldnt hinder the fact that he has been a good ballplayer for years. Ya, I was actually just going to correct myself, I just recall he's been real good these last 3 years then I looked at his career stats and he's been a very good hitter his whole career. .291 career hitter with a .375 career obp.
  18. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Bill-I-had-one-great-year-Mueller Have you seen his stats the past 3 years?? He's not a one year wonder.
  19. I give Mariotti 2 more years tops in this city. The sox keep drawing more and more fans in there "inferior complex" and because of that attendance is going to be within reach of 85-90 mill within the next two years and then he won't be able to b**** about how people don't come to the park because it's inferior and that JR is cheap, guess what take that stuff away and he has nothing to write about. It sucks to be you Mariotti.
  20. The sox organization is by far the best I've seen when it comes to things like this, absolutely fantastic job.
  21. What, The Aussie????? Just playin, Congrats DBAHO, you deserve it
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) I can't remember which thread Brad Lidge is mentioned, so I'll put this little blurb from Barry Rozner here: See, there ya go Jordan, Crede for Lidge straight up
  23. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:33 AM) Bump! Looks like people are talking about this guy now. Kind of hard to look past those ridiculous numbers. He'll be up in bham as soon as Rogo is in Charlotte which should be coming soon.
  24. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) Hey guys, is it alright if I bring Jason? It'll cost ya
