  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) Rowand has to learn from the Master when it comes to "rock out with your cock out." Thankfully I'm not going to that ISU.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Yeah, it's pretty brutal. Perhaps they're saving money to go towards payroll but hiring a child to do all signage work for them, not to mention a bizarre choice for the featured players. For anyone that can't see the link here's the billboard: Haha nice substitution.
  3. Going to Illinois State this weekend with a bunch of friends. I've never been there before so I'm looking forward to it. Get to show those people how to party.
  4. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) Did he say something funny which then prompted the hosts to say, "Gordon Beckham, you slay me"? lol, well played.
  5. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) Stay away from Bud Light Lime. Was that helpful? I love that beer. Seriously.
  6. Wite, you write too damn much . Good stuff though.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) You need to check your birth date/graduation date Steve's aging pretty damn quick apparently.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) Link 5.79 runs per game. Highest possible is 5.86. That's 940 runs. Jesus. They're scary good on paper. Hope for injuries(ya that makes me a bad person but I don't care)!
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) And that, my friends, is an AL wrap. Unf***ingbelievable. Honestly, they were probably the best team in the AL last season barring injury but they were obviously quite banged up. They're once again going to be the best team in the league on paper, just have to see if they hold up or not.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2297647:date=Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:11 PM:name=Pale Sox)-->QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) <!--quotec-->I talked to Kevin Briand who headed the Jays' Canadian scouting for 10 years about Lawrie, and he said he's a very arrogant kid. But he also said he plays hard and doesn't even consider failure as an option. I imagine he must have liked him because he's still with the Jays (Briand) as a professional scout, and I'm sure AA consulted him first. He's also 20 years old, so it's not surprising if he's a bit immature. I wouldn't think so, after all, it's tattooed on his arm. lol.... Ha, gotta a guy with Eminem lyrics tattooed on his shoulder.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) I wasn't thrilled with the performance tonight but I don't think people realize how much that would mess with a players rhythm. The women's ball is pretty significantly smaller and Illinois was never able to get in a rhythm in the first half. They then went out and scored 50 in the 2nd half playing with the proper ball. The difference in balls(hehe) makes a HUGE difference. That's absurd that none of the officials noticed that.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Oh, now they use advanced fielding metrics. But they sure didn't use them when on Derek Jeter. lol indeed.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) We have a RF'er in CQ. It is stillpossible we see a battler in ST between Viciedo and Morel for that 3B job. Nothing has been handed to anyone that I know of plus we have Teahan in the picture. There are trade possibilities for sure We have a dh in rf, we really don't have a rf'er. And 3b is Morel's job.
  14. Besides the fact that all those trades will never happen, I like the fact that you're just throwing out there a 130 million dollar payroll
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) Party cancelled. On second thought, let me know, I'll bring Ashley, and you two can talk Iowa basketball. Best conversations ever.
  16. Look at what Jayson Werth got and tell me this is an overpay.
  17. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Lefty: Thornton Righty: Santos Long Relief: Pena or someone of that ilk LOOGY: Byrdak ROOGY: someone we'll find in the system Closer: Sale Where is this huge demand for a high priced 'pen arm? If we get one, great, if not, it isn't like we're running straight scrubs out there... Gotta sign Byrdak first Overall, it'd be nice to get that LOOGY and one other quality arm and I'd be more than content. EDIT: And I think the worry among some people is that Santos and Sale aren't very proven. That personally doesn't worry me at all as I'd bet on them being two of the very best relievers in baseball this season(ya, I'm that confident in both of them).
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) So is he just prime trade bait now? Seems like he's blocked for 3 years now. I have no problem trading him with his value being pretty high. Perfect time to trade him imo.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Everything I've heard is Thornton or Sale is closer, and they'll sign Byrdak as their other lefty reliever. He was pretty much the guy I was thinking of as a cheap sign for the Sox. Perfect LOOGY.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) I would send Floyd and Q That's too much.
  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:17 AM) To be fair, Kenny did say payroll is 'almost tapped-out'. It is but we'll be able to sign a decent reliever for relatively cheap and then go out and trade for one somehow. Like I said, KW isn't leaving the pen like this, not happening.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) I may be optimistic about certain things, but I am very realistic when it comes to handing out contracts and acquiring players and our payroll. We're going to lose a lot of games 9-8 this year when our bullpen consists of me, you and ss2k5 because we can't afford to sign anyone. The bullpen is not going to go unfixed by KW. We already have 3 really good back end of the pen guys and a pretty decent long reliever. Give Kenny some time and the bullpen will be just fine.
  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) My grandma is really failing in health, the doctors just said they would be amazed if she makes it to Christmas and my relatives are saying she looks just terrible right now. She's my only grandparent and is just the sweetest lady. My dad apparently was crying today, in my 20 years of being alive I have never seen him shed a tear, I just feel awful. Sorry to hear that dude. One of my grandmas(who happened to be my closest family member outside my mom and dad) just passed away a few weeks ago, it sucks.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:05 AM) Something is strange when shack is the pessimist in a thread. Other than SS2K5, and nobody can touch his homerism, shack is the biggest homer on the board. And EVERYONE else is happy. Gage going all Bill James, Shack becoming the Grinch. Weird times around this board.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) The White Sox are NOT the Yankees. Not even close to a fair example. Ya, I kind of misread your point initially, my point of everyone doing it still stands though. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) He did sign with us, and at approximately the same price as we thought was fair, as a consensus. He did it in early December so he wasn't holding the club hostage. I'm really not sure what you want from the guy, it's not like he held out for an unfair price for a long period of time, he signed for fair value relatively quickly and left the negotiations to his agent like you're supposed to. I'm astounded. And ding ding ding, there ya go.
