  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) i seriously told you so. I was waiting for your comment. It was late and I was real tired and spacing out. Usually, I'm looking all over for cops but because I was out of it, I wasn't. Thankfully I didn't get hit going that fast.
  2. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) I'll offer mine, just because. 3. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) Since there are so few posts early in this offseason. Here are my grades for the Sox as to how they performed this past season. Please add yours. I will not include all the Sox. Paulie - A Iguchi- B plus. Uribe - C Crede - A AJ - A minus. Thome - A Pods - C-minus, D plus Anderson C-minus. Dye - A plus. Buehrle - C minus. Jose Contreras - B Garland - B Freddie - C Vaz - C Brandon - C minus Jenks - A Riske - C minus MacDougal - C Cotts - D Thornton - C Cintron - C Gload - C Ozuna - C Mack - C. I am not high on our bench. Oz - B (we did win 90 games) Cora - D Walker - C Cooper - C minus Needs for next year: Get rid of Pods; upgrade there. Need bullpen overhaul Let Brandon start; trade one of the starters to make room for him How does Bobby get an A yet Mac and Thornton get C's?
  4. So I got my first ever speeding ticket today coming back to school down 57.
  5. I haven't seen a game of high school football this year so I'll just assume that Stevenson will win 8A.
  6. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) He should blame the owners, I am no Beane fanboy, but he consistently puts playoff teams together with a meh payroll Well I'm not going to get into the whole Beane argument again but as far as this stuff goes, from what I've heard/read it definitely seems like Beane calls the shots there no matter what and the manager is just a puppet.
  7. He was one of the best hitters in baseball last season and he's going to make a whole 6 million dollars this season. Not happening.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) Well, the best the Tigers can do in the postseason now is 11-2. What a bunch of losers, eh? ^^^ What the Sox did last season was just ridiculous. The end.

  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) I love my late night talks with row.
  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) I agree. The only team to hold the #2 team in the country under 300 yards this season sucks ass. Correct. Well I've seen them play in person and I've watched almost all of there games this season and they really are bad. They also haven't beat a decent team yet this season.
  12. If the Cards were going to win a game I thought it'd be this one. I expect Detroit to win the next 4.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Hillarious. What a great find, you rock.
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 20, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) Ah, the Tigers winning the World Series prediction makes sense now. Rowand, please bet on the White Sox next year. Even if I wanted to bet on the Sox, I never could due to superstition/jinxing stuff. And yes, I really did believe the Tigers would win the World Series at the start of the playoffs, and obviously I still believe that now.
  15. Boo, I posted this in the flying under the radar in the sportspub and it got no responses. But seriously, that article is really funny.
  16. Congrats to the Cards but at most I see them winning one game, and I see CardsJimEdmonds15 lurking in this thread so I'm sure he'll have something to say. Congrats to you, but I just think the Tigers are the superior team. As for that Endy play, given the context of the game, easily one of the best plays ever. Like Tony said though, I honestly couldn't care less about these playoffs but I guess I will root for the Tigers because of the fact that I have 20 bucks on them to win it all.
  17. QUOTE(ptatc @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) McCarthy will not be our 2nd or 3rd best starter next year. I bet he will. I'm also one who usually expects youngsters to struggle early on but I think Brandon is very special(time number 3423432432 I've said that) and I expect him to be very good in 07.
  18. QUOTE(BainesHOF @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Yeah, McCarthy was so valuable that Ozzie barely pitched him in meaningful situations. Ya well he's going to be starting this year and he's going to be one of our better starters(he'll be our 2nd or 3rd best starter next season) and he allows us to cut 8-10 mill in payroll. Like I said, he's way too valuable at this point.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) Okay Mr. Signature Bet, what would you give up? To be honest, I just don't think we're a good fit with Seattle unless they'd want one of our veteran sp's and then a Josh Fields or a Sweeney or a Broadway. Trading Brandon is a no no, he's just too valuable to our club at this point. I'd absolutely love to trade for Ichiro, don't get me wrong, I just don't see us being a good match with the M's.
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Seattle always needs younger guys. Sweeney, BMAC, Vazquez. Too much pitching giving up? Discuss. Way too much.
  21. My friend came up with the idea and it's pretty fun to do if you have some time. You're building your own baseball team, you have the top 25 picks so you can take whoever you want and you have a 90 million dollar payroll(based on 06 salaries). It takes a bit of time to do, to make sure the salaries match and such but I had a good time doing it. So... What would your team look like? My team ended up being about 89 million, I'll post it later.
  22. I figure some of you guys will enjoy this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03pDY8PTh2Y
  23. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 19, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) So, pretty much, you're judging him on the body of work of 3 (4 including Giamatti) other men. Selig has had successful expansion twice, a team moving only once, profit sharing in the form of the payroll tax, decent parity, the 3 tier division with the very popular wild card. Many new stadiums, the All Star Game meaning something, exciting interleague play, record increases in baseball attendance following a work stoppage (which was the union's fault as much as the owners') and a 14 year period that saw 26 of 30 mlb teams make the playoffs. No other Commissioner can say these things. Good stuff there knight. I honestly was just going to mention the wild card cause imo that is one of the best things ever to happen to baseball.
