Juan Pierre to White Sox?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) I just wish that somehow our team could actually focus on finding a leadoff hitter who actually fits with the makeup of the rest of the team. We have a murderous 3-4-5 with a ton of power. We hit a sh*t load of home runs. Stealing bases in front of those type of guys does not have nearly as high of an impact on run production as simply being on base. It's not a bad thing if you're not thrown out a lot, but it's not going to be the end-all-be-all. If you could find me a LF/SS with an OBP somewhere above .350 or .360, I'd be very happy...and spend the rest of my money on pitching. Well that's the thing, what pitching exactly are we going to spend the money on? Fixing the bullpen shouldn't cost that much money and there really isn't that much out there to improve the starters.

Juan Pierre to White Sox?
IF he's playing left field and never sniffs center and it's to a reasonable deal then I could deal with it. If he's coming in to take Brian's spot, then I'll be pissed.

Detroit Tigers World Series Thread
QUOTE(MichiganBorn @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) I have been reading all this and I haven't posted anything because I didn't want to be "that guy" who brags in the good times and keeps his mouth shut when things are going bad for his team. But I'm enjoying this time because it may not come again for another 20 years. You should enjoy it, enjoy it as much as possible. I get a kick out of their being an argument over the 07 Tigers in here as well. We have absolutely no clue what that team is going to look like at the moment. It would probably be wise to wait and see before discussing if the 07 Tigers will turn into the 06 White Sox.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:49 AM) SoaB. I bought that damn Fergie CS cause my niece likes that dumb London Bridge song.... and I liked it. Isn't that like a bannable offense now a days?

Cubs Expected to Hire Pinella
I really believe this is the best move the Cubs could have made. Obviously they aren't going to win with this group, but Lou will get the most out of what ever talent they have.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 06:58 AM) LOL! I see SI calling it the "greatest choke job in NFL history"! Teaches me! Shocking and histarical was what it was for me. I'm not a Bears fan and I'm sitting at the Buffalo Wild Wings here in Carbondale with a ton of Bears fans. Anyways, when everything is going down people are running around that damn place cheering and going nuts, I just sat at my table laughing and shaking my head. It was just ridiculous.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) You really think Ozzie would take Dye out of the 3 hole? He excelled there at the end. What would that do to Konerko? 6th? Konerko is not a 6th hitter. Neither is Alex. Dye didn't excel out of the 3 spot and neither did the offense. The offense basically started to sputter when Jermaine was moved to the 3 hole. Now I doubt there is a direct correlation there but it certainly wasn't something that was going to make our lineup a whole lot better like some people thought.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Was that a quote from him or speculation? Probably there are more moves coming(leadoff), but why couldn't he bat 2nd? Someone's source, so like I said who knows if it's true. I take anything from the media with a grain of salt, you just never know.

Ken Macha Fired
I really doubt Dusty would get the A's job. He doesn't really subscribe to the moneyball theory if that makes sense. I don't think he'd be a good fit there.

A-Rod would bat 3rd here. Anyways, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but at SI.com it was said that Alex wouldn't waive his no trade to come here because of Ozzie. Who knows if that's true but it's interesting with out a doubt.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) He's way too old for Sabean to trade. Honestly though, I'd love to have Vizquel on this team(obviously if we can't get Alex). The guy can still play, he doesn't have as much range as he used to but he's still sure handed at short and still a pretty solid hitter. I have no clue what it'd take but Omar is definitely someone I'd look into, if indeed Juan is gone(I think he's done here now, even without all the details of this).

We're going to have a new shortstop next season.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) I think it's borderline, Green screwed up because he didn't really include any memorable lines in the tirade like "PLAYOFFS!?!?" or "You play to win the game." but you just know that this press conference will have some excellent staying power. That's exactly what I was thinking. He didn't have the one liner but the incredible anger definitely will have this thing being shown over and over again.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) You just know that Denny Green cut will be shown on SportsCenter and the like for the rest of eternity. You saying it's going to go into the Jim Mora/Herm Edwards hall of fame?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Perhaps for a Dolphins fan but as a Bears fan I have no voice or energy left. I was just joking around. I actually really enjoyed this game because besides the 2001 Bearsesque comeback, I really enjoyed watching Leinart play, he is not going to be good, he's going to be GREAT.

A-Rod, what's the asking price
Matsuzaka is a Boras client. I know ARod is as well but his deal is done. I'd love to get Mats cause I think he's going to be a freakin stud(and yes I'd like him over Alex) but it's not happening.
