  1. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) College Basketball is my fav(besides the sox)...im so glad i can get the college bball package on directv. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) ^^^ Thirded.
  2. Yikes. I hate the Illini but I'd be pretty pissed if I was an U of I fan right now.
  3. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) I know I might get killed for saying this, but what about Mussina if we can get him to sign a 2 year deal. That way after the contract is up, Broadway and Heager will be ready, if there not ready before then. Is Carlos Zambrano available, I know he is a FA after 07, so maybe we can get him? But would the Cubs want to trade a young, all-star to the White Sox, and what would the Sox have to give up in return? Would you trade Fields for Zambrano striaght up if we can sign Zambrano and Crede to long term deals? Maybe that isnt realistic? Is there any way to get Lackey from the Angels? Would Garcia, Vazquez and Cotts be enough to land Lackey and Shields?... Peavy? Hudson? The way I look at it, is we have 6 starts, atleast one has to be traded, would that really improve the rotation that much? I don't think it will. Right now, I think you can pencil in Buehrle, Garland, and McCarthy into the rotation, but who will fill the other holes? Not even close to being realistic. Zambrano is one of the leagues elite starters, you're not getting him for an above average but not great prospect. I'd kill for Carlos Zambrano by the way.

    KW or Hawk/DJ's job. I know everyone here would be thrilled if I took over Kenny's job.
  5. 20 days 'till the Dawgs tipoff against Quincy(yes, that's a real college...i guess). After playing a few cupcakes we have Murray State and then onto the Thanksgiving tournament where we'll face Arkansas in the first round and could potentially face 3 'bcs' teams. Then there is that December 17th date which should be fun.
  6. Zito and Matsuzaka are Boras clients. Jason Schmidt is 33, going to receive probably much more money than he is worth and I'm not sure if he's better than what we already have. And that pretty much does it for the free agent market. On the trade market? Maybe Dontrelle(not a fan) and who else? Besides the obvious trading of one starter to make room for Brandon is there really anything else Kenny can do to improve the staff? Thoughts? Ideas?
  7. Anyone tired of hearing this Tigers team compared to the 05 Sox every damn day?
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) Wayne Krivsky is an idiot. lol
  9. Carpenter is going game 2.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) I figure you watched this on PTI as well. I have to imagine the starting pitcher the Yankees would be asking for is Brandon McCarthy. On that note, no deal. Realistically, we'd have to include him to beat the Angels offer. Not worth it. I agree no deal if they insist on Brandon but like I've said before, I think there are ways to trade for Alex with out having to give up Brandon.
  11. For those who watched espn today, it seems that if the media has picked up on the ARod for Crede and a sp rumors.
  12. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) 5) We play the NL Central again. Hosting Houston & Florida and going to Philly & Pittsburgh. (so much for variety every year.) thoughts? That's two teams from the NL Central(not including the two Cubs series) and 2 from the NL East, so there actually is some variety this year. And to be honest, the schedule isn't something I concern myself with that much. If the Sox are good enough to get in, then they'll get in no matter what the schedule looks like. I know that sounds cliche, but it's the truth.
  13. 7:30 game, eh? I think I will tune in.
  14. I think the high today in Carbondale was in the high 50's or around 60. I was freezing when I walked outside.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Speaking of Stevenson, the annual Warren vs. Stevenson rivalry game is tomorrow night in Lincolnshire. Shameless plug, I will be broadcasting the game on 1220 AM in Lake County OR you can hear the game at www.wkrs.com as we are streaming online. Kick off around 7:30pm. Stevenson is easily the better team this year and Warren needs 1 win to get into the playoffs. If they don't do it this week they got Libertyville next week. Warren remembers last year as well.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) I think a Wild Card could be the Giants... ARod's only 31....
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) BoDog is taking bets... What team will Alex Rodriguez be traded to? Los Angeles Angels 3/1 Boston Red Sox 5/1 St. Louis Cardinals 9/2 Philadelphia Phillies 9/1 Chicago White Sox 7/1 Chicago Cubs 8/1 Seattle Mariners 11/1 Los Angeles Dodgers 9/1 Atlanta Braves 7/1 Field 7/2 I don't understand why the Red Sox have better odds than the White Sox. I suppose it's just because that's what people are betting, like betting the Cubs to win the WS. I guess the Cards and Phillies could land him but they have much more pressing needs and a ton more holes than the Angels or Sox to fill. I don't think Alex would be a great fit at either of those places either because of the circumstances.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) Me and my pessimistic mindset. However, we have more pitching to offer than anybody and could afford that kind of move. I just don't want to think about it and get all excited, to be perfectly honest. lol. Ha, fair enough. I honestly think though all things considered there is at least a decent shot we get Alex(as good a chance as anyone else). Like Tony said, we'll be linked to this all offseason long until the situation gets settled.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) With that said, if A-Rod is traded, it sure as hell won't be to us. Says who?
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) There's no shame in being shut down by Verlander, but his last two ABs against Grilli (seriously, Jason Grilli!?) and Todd Jones were pretty pathetic. I expect Bonderman to make him look foolish as well. I think we both knew he'd have trouble against Verlander but ya as you said his last bat in particular wasn't very impressive. He had a few great ones to mash.
  21. I'm not going to lie, kind of made me happy to see Frank make the last out tonight.
  22. Be a pretty dumb move not to have him on the 40.
  23. Wow, that's horrible to hear. RIP
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) And instead of Clemens, Pettitte, Oswalt, and Backe, the Tigers get to face the Mets/Cards pitching staffs. SO HARD I personally believe at least 3 of last years CS teams would have won this years World Series and probably all 4. JMO though.
  25. So yesterday on Mike and Mike and BBTN, Steve Phillips basically said that this years Tigers team has a tougher road through the playoffs than last years Sox just cause we didn't have to play the Yankees: "But the White Sox didn't have to play the Yankees."
