Bobby Abreu
If the Phillies were willing to trade Abreu for Wells, and it was the Jays who turned it down because of the salary, it means the Sox would have a good shot at Abreu for Aaron Rowand straight up if they were willing to take on the salary. I think it's worth it.

Ozzie wants a new #2 hitter
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) That would be Furcal. Although I think they may want to move Iguchi from second as he is an injury waiting to happen on the doubleplay. He could be a good DH option. My thoughts exactly.

free agent wish list
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Is Ozuna a FA? Cas if he is, I want him back. Timo too. Either Joe Borchard or Brian Anderson should take Timo's spot on the Sox roster next year.

free agent wish list
As long as this is a "wish" list, Hideki Matsui would be a nice upgrade over Carl. If not, Carl is a free agent now... Also, if Ozzie really wants to move Iguchi to the middle of the order, we could use a good number two hitter. Furcal would fit the bill with Iguchi moving to DH, but he may be too overpriced which might knock the whole team payroll/team chemistry out of whack.

Politte's option exercised, Everett's Declined
A "healthy Frank" no longer exists. Your point about possibly screwing up team chemistry is well taken, though.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) A bit OT.. what is Furcal's status..? Furcal would be a great pickup. He could play SS, move Uribe to 2B, and let Iguchi DH. A lineup of Pods, Furcal, Iguchi, Konerko, Dye, Pierzynski, Rowand, Crede & Uribe would be a nice balance of speed and pop, and the defense would be even better than 2005. Add a full season of BMac as the fifth starter and.....WOW!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Furcal is seriously not worth the money considering what position he plays. Teams like the Cubs who are in dire need of a SS and a leadoff man would be more inclined to give Furcal upwards of $10M, the White Sox in their current situation do not need him for that kind of money. I wouldn't pay him upwards of $10M either. I was thinking around $8M.

Iguchi is a decent second baseman but he is the weakest link defensively in the infield. Ozzie has already stated that he wants to add more speed next year, so Furcal would be a good addition. Uribe is a great defensive SS and he played great at 2B in 2004. Ozzie thinks Iguchi would make a good RBI man if he were moved down in the order, so putting him at DH is not a far-fetched idea. Besides, I like the idea of a DH who can also play well in the field when needed rather than a DH only butcher-in-the-field type. If not Furcal, then keep everything as it is except upgrade at DH with Hideki Matsui. He can also play some CF if needed. Point is, now is the time to add not subtract.

SNL Tonight
Well that sucked. I can't believe I actually wasted my time watching SNL. That's the first time I watched that s*** in years, maybe decades.

I'd go after Furcal. We saw how a good speedy leadoff man can spark a team and they are inshort supply around MLB. We also saw how the Sox struggled when Pods was hurt, so it would be nice to have two speedy guys around. Furcal could bat second so Iguchi could be moved down to the middle of the order. Furcal would play SS, Uribe could move to 2B, and Iguchi DH. It also gives us depth in case Crede, Uribe or Iguchi get injured.

Don't play umpire
Players are supposed to play and leave the umpiring to the umpires. Apparently, Josh Paul and Finley don't remember that.

Marte may not even be on playoff roster...
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) I guess the Sun Times has a crystal ball and can see into the future that the Sox have made the playoffs. :headshake Give it up already. It doesn't take a crystal ball to see the Sox are going to be in the playoffs. Sheesh!

Ken Rosenthal Says
QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) We want FG starting the first ROAD game. Period. Thank you!

Ozuna or Crede?
Continue to start Ozuna as long as he's playing well, with Crede coming in as a late inning defensive replacement. If Ozuna begins to falter, either at the plate or in the field, Crede can resume his role as starter. But if Ozuna continues to play as he has been, he should not go back to the bench.

Sox vs. Royals 9-7-05
I don't understand this s***. If Dustin was healthy enough to pitch tonight, then why the hell didn't he start the ninth inning. That's what a CLOSER is supposed to do. Is he our closer or not???? If Ozzie doesn't have confidence in pitching Hermanson in closing situations because of his chronic back trouble, the let Jenks be the closer. If Dustin's OK, let him CLOSE the games by pitching the entire ninth!!!
-
Sox vs. Royals 9-7-05
This team does not have a closer. What good is Dustin if he can only pitch once a week? Jenks should be the full time closer.

Bill Melton
Melton would make a good color guy. Farmer is a poor play by play guy, however.

Hurt not ruling out October
Where's he gonna play?

Anderson Demoted
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) But would you rather have Adkins or Anderson on your playoff roster? Gload.

Griffey Rumor
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) If this is true, it really pisses me off. This pisses me off worse than their owner preventing the trade. Last year it was Delgado and this year it's Griffey. Man, NOBODY wants you on that team. I feel the exact same way as you.

Griffey Rumor
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) So, basically nothing changed. Levine must have had nothing this wknd, and try to generate interest in the viewing audience again. No, if true, everything has changed. Now it's Griffey who killed the trade not the Reds ownership. He doesn't want to play for the Sox, according to this.

Is Scott still returning on Monday?
QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Last I heard he was rehabbing down in Charlotte this weekend and returning on Monday. Hopefully all goes well this weekend. Where's he gonna play?
-
Crede
Maybe the Sox will go after Rich Aurillia.
-
Matt Smith outrighted to Charlotte...
QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) Also, Hawk changed his stance on Griffey tonight. He was pretty much saying that he wouldn't mind adding a bat like his. Could Hawk be acting as Reinsdorf's mouthpiece once again? I was thinking the exact same thing when I heard Hawk talking about Griffey tonight. Maybe he was just reacting to the responses he has been getting for all his "Where would he play?" comments.
