I agree the price of a college education is getting out of hand and something should be done about it. some of my students have 100,000 debt before they get to me. However, the bolded is absolutely the wrong way to look at it. If you look at it this way you should go to a trade school to learn a specific trade and nothing else. The college experience is for more than being educated for a specific task. It is about improving the way a mind thinks and operates. It is about having a society that will think and analyze options during any choice (presidential elections, financial debt, what is best for my child) not just trained to do a task. It's also about slowly learning to adult, not being thrown into adulting. Kind of like a half way house for the immature. I know work in academia and I'm biased but going to a university is about so much more than training for a job.

Nolan Ryan was never the best pitcher. He struck out a lot of guys but also walked a lot. He was maybe the best thrower but never the best pitcher. -

I'm old. ? -
It's trying to throw as hard as you can for as long as you can thus sacrificing control. This is why they have 100 pitches in 5 innings.

It is a type of porn! ? Porn is in the eye of the beholder!

Owww! I feel good. Like i knew that I would, now.

I can't see any scenario where he pitches 180 innings. The most he's ever done was 165, 5 years ago. Two years ago is was 34. Last year 7. Pitching him 160 this year would be abuse.

The other day mully and haugh agreed that that Ross was doing a better job than TLR because the cubs have had more issues with injuries than the Sox.

The problem with this philosophy is that it is dependent on the averages. On average the sacrifice will not produce as well with trying to get a hit with your average hitter. Did the sacrifice occur with an average hitter? If it was with a below average hitter or with a hitter in a slump, do the same numbers hold true? -

Steve Stone / Yoan Moncada's "Lack of Effort and Interest"
ptatc replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He and Anderson looked very worn out for the first few innings last night. Anderson was slow going his right on a liner, moncada had the error and had no desire to get it. Once the rally started they seemed to wake up. -

POTY! -
I know it sounds crazy but you can disagree with someone even have arguments with them and still be friends or at least have a good relationship.
-
They are currently 28th in MLB with being favored in only 39.3%. The crazy part is the the best teams tend to be at the bottom in general and the worst teams tend to be at the top with some outliers. Maybe the umps consciously or unconsciously favor the underdogs.
-
Part of this is that pitchers are trying to throw as hard as they can for as long as they can and this sacrifices control so they are going to hit more with this philosophy.

I don't think you are on the site you think you are on if you expect this. ?

Classy moves by Carlos Rodon and Jerry Reinsdorf

JR is known to be very good to his employees. Most people on this board think he is too loyal. I don't doubt the sincerity of the gesture. Doesn't mean it can't serve two purposes though. -

Believe me when patients ask the questions about when I think they can get into certain positions again, it gets to be a skit. -

Possible but he should have close to motion so as long as it isn't stressed in that postion...... -

No. The end range will be over his head and out to the side. I'm sure they just told him to not to do anything over his head. -

Eventually but probably not yet. Probably just manual resistance now to protect the repair. The bands or pullies will be important later as the diagonal pattern will be the primary motion. -
Everyone else would have the same plan with the possible exception of getting his 60 innings in the minors.
-
i don't know what people were expecting. He only threw about 15 competitive innings last year and was shut down twice, once in college and once in the MLB. I'm sure the plan was always to slowly ramp him up to 60 or so innings this year.
