  1. I've always liked Erstad, but I think his best years are behind him. He's played so balls to wall for so many years that he's bound to break down sooner than later.
  2. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Who cares if we got lucky yesterday, we got the W and that's all that matters. I wouldn't call it lucky. Hell, we get 27 outs just like they do, and we scored more runs with ours than they did. At 26 outs, they have a win, but it takes 27.
  3. Todd Helton is GROSSLY overpaid. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the last few years of his contract are hideous. $18 or $19 million per.
  4. OK. Let me say this again. They won't put 15 teams in each league because it's an odd number and someone would be idle every day.

    It's destiny

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Especially with this team. They always seem to have in their head being in a game. The only exception I can think of is the game I was at with Garland pitching against the Rangers. That was the only time I have seen them hang their head all year. I was fortunate to be in attendance for that one as well. I kept expecting Mench's HR to hook foul.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) Great post, Jim. Everett's a crazy-ass competitor...and I mean crazy in more ways than one. You just gotta love the guy. I stand by my assessment that Everett has been just as good as Dye in RF, if not better this year. Didn't Everett, Rowand, and AJ all get their hits with 2 strikes and 2 outs? That's just insane. I believe that is correct.
  7. Maybe it won't happen this year.
  8. Carl Everett is a consummate professional and a winner in every sense of the word. I'd trade those same 5 prospects for him today, without a doubt.
  9. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Awesome, where's that quote from YAS? An article of Frank at chicagosports.com, today.
  10. All I can say is that there is a reason we have 16 teams in the NL and 14 in the AL, instead of 15 in each league.
  11. When you get your inspirations from a movie called "Jackass", what does that say about you? :headshake
  12. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) They had the chance to bring him back. Therefore, let me modify my comparison. It'd be like the Braves sending Jones to the Royals because they have Marte, who then release him a year later, and then letting him go to the Phillies. Still dumb to let a big rival have such a good player. Why aren't you guys letting me rip on the Twins? It'd be like me defending the Patriots. Those teams can both kiss my ass! Because the Twins didn't do anything stupid. They traded AJ because they had Mauer. Once AJ was gone, he wasn't part of the Twins plans. They didn't need a catcher so they didn't attempt to sign AJ when SF released him.
  13. My first game thread. We'll see how it goes.
  14. After last night's GREAT victory, I can't help but be confident about tonight. SWEEP!
  15. Since this thread is outdated by a couple days, I'm going to unpin it.
  16. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) He does make stupid decisions and he does repeat mistakes. He doesn't suck though. You are focusing on the short term instead of the long term. What he does in a specific situation my not seem to be the best move at the time, but in the big picture he's making all the right moves. The players have confidence in themselves and in their teammates. That is the definition of a good manager. Particular instances may not work out, but throughout the course of the season he has proven to right more often than wrong. My proof of that ... 45-22.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) It just drives me crazy to see the negativity. Look, this team has some issues, and we all hope they get addressed to give us the best shot at a World Series..., right? But this team has heart, and I wish people could recognize that. 23 games over .500 before Father's Day and people STILL think the manager sucks. WTF?
  18. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) I wasn't around - but after reading this, some of you need to get a f***ing life and quite s***ting on this team every opportunity you get. What part of a 45-22 record can you not understand? This team is in damn near every f***ing game, and some of you piss, moan, gripe, b****, and every other negative f***ing adjective on the book. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE f***ING TEAM STOP WATCHING THEM. /rant over
  19. Julio Franco broke the record for the oldest player to have a multi-homer game. It was previously held by Carlton Fisk.
  20. My dream team is the next Sox team to win the World Series
  21. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Methinks certain posters who like to hang around when the Sox are losing are being rather "silent" tonight. IMagine that! :rolly
