  1. Chris Getz is a perpetual motion machine. He can go through more s%*# than your average plumber.
  2. Julio heating up a bit. Pitching continues to be 99th percentile which does not seem sustainable but sometimes you get that all season like the 2005 Sox. FG projected win is only 84.7 (down from 87 preseason) but playoff odds are 60% thanks to how awful the division is.
  3. That's about where I'm at. There's certain players like Beni, Vaughn, Eloy and Martin that just deserve the hardiest of boos. So of course do JR, Getz and Pedro -- but there are some players like Crochett worth cheering. In general, I won't bemoan any wins, but the losses don't affect me at all right now.
  4. @Quin @cuban_sammiches an ai could probably run the sox better for cheaper at this point. hell, maybe JR could be sold on it. just tell him a datacenter is tax free.
  5. That's exactly what I'm talking about. You had Sam Smith, who whatever you thought of him, was a powerhouse of a reporter and had serious connections in his heyday. Then KC, who while a mouthpiece, was you know, a long time beat guy. You probably went from Smith making like 200-300k a year to Poe making 40-60K. Peanuts for the Tribune company but that's what journalism pays these days. The real money is in doing the stupid "citizen journalist" thing and just collecting money from morons online.
  6. Nothing against the writer, Julia Poe, but it's insane some of the people working what were formerly coveted, big time, career peak beats like being the Bulls' beat writer at the Tribune, as she's listed. She got her undergrad degree in journalism (not even J school grad) from USC in 2019 and 5 years later she's working a gig that in a previous generation would be reserved for someone with 20+ years experience and impeccable writing and reporting history.
  7. Nastrini sucks. Another awful scouting adventure. Like he has nothing. He would be getting lit up in AA.
  8. Here's the situation and everybody in that clubhouse knows it: 1) The team sucks. When you look across the room or you step into the on deck circle you know the guys aren't likely to come through. That puts additional pressure on you. 2) The manager sucks. Everybody knows it. Players talk amongst themselves and will lash out at the manager eventually because they want to blame at least some of their performance on the bad manager. 3) Death spiral. Everybody gets paid to no need to cry but that's what it's like in the working environment for every single minute of every game. I'm sure it's looser before and after, but during the games nah, that s%*# is a death spiral and unless there is a serious talent infusion by July (ha) you're going to continue to threaten some historic records. In some ways setting the all time modern RD mark is even more embarrassing than just the losses.
  9. this is a mildly racist and fatphobic joke but it was funny so I'll allow it.
  10. he got kicked out for throwing the ball back? come the f*** on. how about a warning?
  11. He's an incredible talent and it just makes the decision to rush him up as a reliever even dumber.
  12. Good luck. If you're signing our sloppy seconds you're probably a s%*# team.
  13. that is a hawkism, but it is accurate for sure with Michael.
  14. Cool, can I read his fangraphs without seeing a negative in front of his fWAR?
  15. He should have filed an appeal or protest soon as he got into the clubhouse. Not sure exactly how that works but at least get it in paper that the umps fucked up, that's the least amount of accountability we can expect.
  16. Hindered is doing a lot of work in that rule. How do you "hinder" an infield popup exactly when it's an automatic out, or, even if you think it wasn't an IF fly rule, how was he "hindered" when he camped under it for a good few seconds and easily made the play? The umps fucked it up and Pedro should have gotten himself ejected even tho the game was over.
  17. As I said, if that is "interference" then you coach your guys to just run into any base-runner, even if they are on the base, during any infield fly. Literally no downside. At least we got fucked by a bad call in a year it won't matter at all. Hard to even get too upset given our team is so awful.
