  1. Oh, we've made a number of "highly competitive bids" over the last decade. It's resulted in amazing signings like Beni and others.
  2. Relying on public scouting and data would probably improve our org leaps and bounds.
  3. Go ahead and look up the longest contract the Sox have ever given a FA pitcher and tell me how that will play out with guys not coming off a year in Korea who entered the offseason with .3 WAR at 31 years old. I mean, can't get fooled again. The Sox will not spend at the level it takes to meaningfully improve the team through FA. Even when on paper they are in a contention period. They certainly aren't going to do it to take a team from 75 to 80 wins.
  4. Also the Astros lost 110 games before becoming good. CHECKMATE haters. After we lose 120 we are gonna win 5 WS in a ROW. BOOM.
  5. Fedde? A guy who was a scrap heap "20% of the time this works out" type signing? The type of signing the Sox have made for a decade, even when firmly in the contention window and need much more than just 20% odds of average production? You can't make a living signing guys that had career .3 WAR to fill out the rotation. That's doomed to fail over a large sample, as we've all seen. The occasional lightning strike doesn't make up for the half a dozen misses before and after.
  6. Nobody gives the Sox a 13 game losing streak and certainly not those CUBS. Southside STAND UP!
  7. Showed how out of touch he is, but at the time I appreciated his willingness to actually pay for a manager with a name. Oh well. I was wrong. TLR might not have been the main problem, but he wasn't part of the solution either.
  8. That's a great question and really dovetails with the "does anybody have any pride in their work" thread. I think that there exists a deep institutional rot in the White Sox org. For example, the canceling of Sox Fest seems to be a case where instead of fixing a problem a bunch of people whose paychecks depend on JR said "we'll just cancel it" and because JR is always focused on the bottom line rather than running a professional org (at least in the last decade) said sure, sounds good. When people get rewarded for simply doing what their (wrong headed) manager wants instead of doing what is best for the org, it starts to snowball. Is it beyond the realm of possibility that the people Getz put in charge of evaluating the manager simply said "let's do the least work possible" and green light it up the chain of command, after all, it will save the big man upstairs a few bucks to just keep this guy on already...
  9. that beavis one is probably one of the best memes sox or any team related ever.
  10. Title. Hiring of Getz up to this point: Get familiar with the spoiler tag if you're gonna do a lot. Go fucking wild. f*** this team might as well laugh a bit.
  11. lol, this team is the Harlem Globetrotters of losing.
  12. yikes. we gotta be the dumbest team in baseball on top of least talented.
  13. hanger, fouled it off. bad omen.
  14. lol, maybe if it was the playoffs this guy would be a good add.
  15. alright colas, one time buddy. let's do this. shove it up everybody's ass.
  16. the white sox are to losing baseball what apps are to betting.
