2024 White Sox Opening Day thread 3/28 3:10 first pitch vs Detroit
Exactly. It's one thing for Moncada to swing at one, but WTF is eloy doing in a 2-1 count with runner going? Just take a god damn pitch dude it would have been 3-1 with Luis probably at 2nd.

Just terrible ABs from Yoan and Eloy. Seen enough of that to last a lifetime.

Crochett looking good. Also, every time Maldonado drops a pitch in the strike zone, sip your beer.

I'm thankful we're getting the game in. Couple games already postponed.

New $15 Campfire milkshake leads MLB food debuts
If I'm consuming 1000 calories at the ball park, it sure as s%*# is via 8 beers, not a milkshake. But, it takes all types.

26-man roster announced
Gavin Sheets folks. Unreal. If ostensibly we're trying to compete, there are better uses of the 26th spot than a LHB DH that can't hit RHP.

Basically just shows he wasn't right last year and hopefully he can get back to where he was prior to the injury. edit: ah, I was a few bowls and beers in last night I should have said "has been better" yikes.

High of 45 tmr with sun breaks and a steady 12-15mph wind. Not even the weather gods like this team. You're gonna be freezing your ass off in the shade and not much better in the sun.

Interesting graph from a fantasy projection website: He has gotten better, we'll see if he can go 4 innings and give up 2 runs or better. That's the goal imo.

White Sox prop bets, sponsored by Draft Kings! Maldonado is -200 to get a ball out of the IF on opening day!

I can point to an individual or two and build a narrative that they will have a decent season -- but the staff, overall? There's no way it's anything better than "mediocre" and probably will be "bad bordering on awful" all year long. We just don't have the horses. If you had a Chris Sale or even MB you could rely on for 180 good innings things would look a little different and everybody could slot back one, but those guys aren't walking through the door.

It's just 1 of 162. I liked the way our guys competed out there today. It's just nice to be back at the ballpark and seeing all these [gestures at empty seats] fans come out.

Schriffen looks like he's about to lean in and ask me to confess my sins. Stone looks like he's in the middle of some point he thinks is really important but in reality doesn't matter one bit.

Ohtani's interpreter fired for stealing money
I take his words at face value. I've read a little bit than in Japan a lot of rich people give their assistants access to their finances that we'd probably consider too trustworthy. At least that's what a couple people have said on twitter, not sure how accurate it is but makes sense as they do have a high trust society compared to ours. And of course it's not exactly unheard of in the US for greedy associates of athlete and entertainers to defraud them. All that said, would it surprise me one bit if Ohtani was placing bets? Not one bit.
