  1. Imagine owning something that has gone up more than the SPX (and on top of that with guaranteed dividends around 10-15%) and thinking it's the players that need to concede more revenue.
  2. I kinda feel sick thinking of all the great little places we have stopped at around Phoenix in spring thinking, and now after COVID and this, probably won't be around next time we go. Yea there are worse things than a business going under going on in the world but FFS all this is so unnecessary.
  3. Fuck baseball.
  4. Good to know I will check them out again.
  5. I will never support BP after they wrote me a nasty email back in 2008 about how I hadn't actually cancelled my sub and then I produced the receipts and all I got was a curt "your sub is now cancelled" and no refund for the additional month I was charged. thanks for coming to my ted talk.
  6. Please, enlighten us.
  7. Exactly, Silver (or Stern) would look the greedier ones in the eye and tell them how fucking stupid they are and how they gonna kill the golden goose. Manfred is probably sitting there saying "well if that's what they want hey, we'll just have to accommodate them". Nothing in Manfred's tenure suggests he has any clue that his job is to protect the owners by protecting them against themselves at times.
  8. People don't like Manfred because he's not smart enough (and too weak) to have the best interests of the entire sport in his purvey. Adam Silver is smart and strong enough to look the owners in the eye and tell them that they are gonna kill the sport if they try some stupid lockout season long.
  9. Manfred is a huge shit bird.
  10. Some rough napkin math would probably have a division winner at 95 games having roughly a 60/40 win expectancy for each game at home over a 84 win team, maybe even slightly higher. If the division winner has an ace that turns that first one into something like 70/30, even better. I dunno, I'm fairly open to this change, I think it's better than what we have now.
  11. 3 straight at home is a pretty big advantage, is it a big enough advantage? Eh, I don't know.
  12. I'm feeling optimistic. Not only will a deal get done it will "fix" the playoffs to give the division winners a great advantage. LFG.
  13. Jesus, what's gotten into these guys? This is honestly impressive. I'd have gone home.
  14. I don't know are you scoring at home?
  15. cheers brother. Good to start posting again and hopefully get excited for another Sox playoff worthy team. My fandom is like the seasons: comes and goes on a regular interval and usually around this time I'm tired of staring out the window and waiting for spring. Doesn't help we got about 2 inches of rain in 24 hours today. It's in the low 50s but jesus it's fucking wet. I can practically picture myself on the Camelback lawn.
  16. Well damn, maybe we will have a full season. Nothing motivates highly motivated successful people quite like the chance of losing that 3rd lake home.
  17. taking less revenue to do more work. non starter. I know we think these guys have cushy jobs (and they do relatively) but they are workers none the less and have legit concerns here about the direction MLB is headed both for them and the fans.
  18. The owners and Vlad sure are intent on uniting the world against them. Bold strategy.
  19. Just leave a giant steaming turd.
  20. Exactly. It's a fucking cartel with a guaranteed profit. It's one of the single best investments a billionaire can make. GTFO with this crying poor shit.
  21. My boycott won't make a bit of difference and I DGAF. It's personal with me now and baseball. They fucked me as a kid in 97 and now they are fucking me again. Fuck them.
  22. Yes, I made that point weeks ago. Don't b**** and moan that you aren't getting a dividend from a high growth asset that has gone up in price 1000% as you've been sitting on it.
  23. I'm about done with this fucking sport. I will not spend a fucking dime on anything. I will pirate every single game for the rest of my life and I will never pay to go to a single game. Fuck it. I've defended baseball and MLB to so many people over my life and I'm sick of it, fuck them. If MLB misses the season there's a good chance in 10 years it's relegated to NHL status in NA.
  24. Look I'm not gonna try and look at this as some Marxist critique of Capitalism based on labor theory of value but he has a point. The fact is that it's the players that generate the value of professional baseball as much as the laundry run by the owners. That's just an objective fact. It's why when replacement players were finally ready to go and nobody GAF the dispute got resolved 20 years ago. Sure the White Sox as an institution owe something to the brave (lol) ownership of JR but they also owe it to the players that have dedicated their entire life to the sport and play it at a level high enough to generate the fan's money. If this doesn't get resolved quickly enough both sides stand to lose. What's the term, phyricc victory or some shit?
