QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) If Bryant were a White Sox, and he told Robin he wanted to play CF instead of LF, and he was then in CF, Robin would get skewered. Does this seriously need to be in every single thread?

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 11:11 AM) Phil Rogers is saying suspensions/fines could be announced late today. I'm sure they want to get them announced before game time tonight.

4/24-26 - The Pale Hose vs. The Team That Inspired Lorde's Angst

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) What did Sale even do except yell at people and act like he was tough? lol For some reason I don't think Eaton just started saying something at Ventura for no reason. I think he said something while Ventura stared him down right when he caught the ball. Then he throws out an F U, I would expect Eaton to say something back after that. There was a HBP earlier in the game, probably unintentional, on what people said was a changeup, my guess was Yost started yelling at Sale because of that. Ventura's comments said that Eaton yelled something at him before he replied.

QUOTE (SmashROT @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:37 PM) Jeff will be out at least a start. He sort of... lost his mind. I wouldn't be surprised if he got more than one. He charged at a guy as things were breaking up.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) I wonder if they look at LF from about 4 pm to 8pm during the summer. I believe most major league parks face NE. PNC Park opens southeast.

Jose Abreu Speaks His Mind on Sox' Poor Play -- a 1st?
Balta1701 replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) It amazes me that people are giving more credence to 3 starts versus the first 3 years of his career. I think part of the problem with Jose is that we've been in awe of what he's done the last 2+ years so we're all kind of worried that something will go wrong with that incredible "out of nowhere" job he's done. -
QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) I feel bad for Saladino, he's got the skills to make it to the show but I'm not sure if he's durable enough. Seems like he goes on the DL every year, probably suggests that his ceiling is as a utility guy which is realistic but I was holding out hope that he could develop into a super-utility player like Sean Rodriguez for TB. Tyler's coming back from the TJS so i'm really not all that surprised that he's running into some muscle soreness issues.

Jose Abreu Speaks His Mind on Sox' Poor Play -- a 1st?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) Yeah, that's on Robin. Can't blame Coop. He's only the pitching coach, and the self proclaimed, "manager of the pitchers". I agree. Don Cooper should have everything that has happened to Jose Quintana in his career credited to him. -
Jesus Christ. My university double-booked the room for my final exam in a class of 330 students with a graduation event featuring the chancellor that is expecting 700+ people.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) Apparently, supervisors were told to falsify training records. http://www.tulsaworld.com/homepage1/source...97b03c6c04.html Even better, assuming CBS isn't terribly sourced.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) Thank you. I think that signing him was one of the better moves that Rick Hahn made during the winter. I think that he is going to hit at least 30 homers for the team this year. He still should be on the bench when the opposing starter is a lefty

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) I would have to look that up, which I don't have time to do right now, but off the top of my head I'm thinking that if there are no employees and only independent contractors, then it would not be considered a business with employees. This is correct:
-
Just ran into MSNBCs Chris Matthews at security at LaGuardia
-
On the season already, Adam LaRoche has a .860 OPS against right handers and a .548 OPS against lefties. This is entirely predictable based on his performance the last 2 years and suggests at least one potential solution. If only we had versatile right handed players on the bench who could take his spot when there is a lefty on the mound starting the game.

Davidson intends to enjoy reset button
Balta1701 replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:08 AM) This might as well just become the Matt Davidson watch thread. If he can get hot, he can find his way onto the MLB team as Connor doesn't really seem like a guy who should/would block him. Has he shown any signs of improving or getting hot? -
4/20- White Sox vs Cleveland Indians
Balta1701 replied to Jose Abreu's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) Well if they want to give us Betts, Swihart, Devers, Rodriguez and more...then go for it Maybe it's time I change my mind and start thinking this is a good idea. Get rid of Sale and the org won't be tempted to make all-in moves with an org unprepared for them. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) I' m making stuff up? He played mostly 3B with the White Sox. He is a horrible SS. "The White Sox only used him as a 3b" does not necessarily translate to "He is a horrible SS" or "He will be a horrible SS this season". The Athletics clearly don't think so. So far this year he's made a couple errors but he's getting to a lot of balls and showing good range. Whether that will keep up who knows, if he can cut down the errors while keeping the range he's shown so far he could be a very good SS.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) I'm excited for even a chance that we can erase from recent memory those three piles of steaming crap that Lucas put out for Episodes 1-3. I feel pretty confident we'll get that, but it wouldn't be hard to do. I watched that last trailer and felt like I was watching a nostalgia piece rather than a new interesting story. The last time I saw Abrams do something that was "too much of a nostalgia piece" it was Into Darkness and that was a fairly weak movie.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Sanchez as a major leaguer will be a #9 hitter, without a ton of improvement. I still look at his numbers and can't help but think "Omar Infante". Full season numbers at Charlotte - high .700s OPS (so say low/mid .700s OPS in the bigs if goes well), 20-ish doubles, 5-ish HR, .275-ish average. Heck, Sanchez even seems to take a few more walks if some of his performance translates.

Rodon Joining Sox Tomorrow - Working out of Bullpen (Initially)
Balta1701 replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) my problem with him as of now, is he really capable of doing more than what the sox have now? the pitching is in a precarious situation, or slippery or uncertain. what ever word one wishes to choose. but i wish the sox would address the starting 5. even with Rodon, i am still leery. No he's not, not right now. Could he be within a couple months? That'd be the hope. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) It'd be interesting if they could get Drabek to AAA and have him stretched out as a starter. With his health history I'd actually rather try him in the bullpen long term. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) What's Balta's trademarked quote again? Basically at this point it's..."It's not Robin Ventura's fault™" in any form. Application pending.
