  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) If that happens, the Sox will be in contention and they can't/won't be traded. Let me say this as clearly as I can. In 2010, Alex Rios got off to a good enough start that he could have been traded, maybe for a positive return. The Sox held onto him, because they were at least partially in contention. Holding on to him was both a gamble and a mistake. Alex Rios should have been traded in June/July 2010, and the failure to do so is really hurting this team. I don't care if we are in contention. If those 2 hit well enough that they can be moved with the Sox eating no money...the MUST move them this time. Regardless of what position they are in the race, they have to clear those 2. Failing to do so sets up the Sox for another 2011.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 05:58 PM) Well I retract my previous comments because pepper spray is a food product, essentially. It just stings the eyes a little! The sad thing is, both private individuals and police departments appear to have taken this advice fully to heart yesterday.
  3. A 3 judge panel has produced a new proposed Texas Congressional map which would create 4 new latino-heavy districts.
  4. Well crap.
  5. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Solid point, but by the time the season starts, I believe we WILL NOT have 5 legit starters and that we will be hoping for one or two unproven guys to perform and would like to get a couple of those future options filled if we trade Danks and/or Floyd. You're probably right. But here's the thing...if we're not going to re-up Buehrle, if we're not going to spend $115 million this year, if we're looking to cut back and "rebuild" as KW said after the GM meetings, then having 2-3 unproven guys in the rotation is exactly what we should be doing.
  6. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) So are we going to get amnesty for Boozer? I think I'm happier that KC can get back to work than almost anything else here.
  7. Well, our next Mars rover is on its way.
  8. Maybe some of us don't want to be pointed at.
  9. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) I agree with this.. Cooper controls the SP/RP.. Also, I would like to add.. Zero Chance he repeats.. This is Loaiza 2003 all over again, one decent season that the fans/kenny banks on duplicating, just to be disapointed. So Humber was juicing?
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) Rios can hit if he keeps his batting stance adjusted correctly. Dunn may need glasses and/or a timing mechanism adjustment. If these issues are remedied, then threads like this will disappear. Rios .270 18 HR 80 RBI 15 SB Dunn .250 35 HR 110 RBI (If these things happen.) If those 2 come out and do those things, and start off at that pace for 2 months, I'll be happy to start more "Please Trade Dunn and Rios NOW" threads. Because the second they can be moved without eating the remainder of their contracts is the second they should be moved.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) I'd rather have either him in the bullpen instead of Jason Frasor, who seemingly won't net the Sox any sort of meaningful compensation anymore. I've got to guess that picking up Frasor's option was done with the reform of the compensation rules in mind...esp. with all the talk about limiting comp picks this year. He's still tradeable if he can come out and have a decent first month.
  12. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) Alonso is tempting, but I am only for trading pitching for pitching.................. Why? Right now, we have 5 legit starters and more relievers than we have room for, in addition to a couple borderline guys like Stewart and Axelrod who are long term who-knows, but the hitting talent in our org is completely bare.
  13. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) I see what you did there. I have a sudden urge to just log out.
  14. Keep your pants on.
  15. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) Why is monkey so high on the list? That was my question also

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) I also am enjoying Terra Nova. Not as good as some of the shows that have been canceled, but its not the worst either. The last few episodes have involved the "plot" more and have been somewhat better.
  17. Awful lot of money for Bruce Chen.
  18. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) It's called the Silver Slugger Awards. No, those go position by position.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) Bears now have tiebreaker over Detroit and will be in no worse than 2nd wildcard spot even if they lose Sunday. That'll come down to the Bears having to beat Minnesota and the Lions losing to the Packers when they match up again (and IIRC that is week 17).
  20. Well that came out of no where. Awaiting details on what can actually be signed to fill the SG vacancy.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) was Chris Harris on the field for James Jones catch and run touchdown? Because that looked like a Chris Harris special if I have ever seen one Not sure, but that one happened because both of the Safeties broke towards the line to try to protect against the run.
  22. Didn't make any zebra jerky?
  23. If the dolphins and their friend tony romo can hold this lead, this would be a great day for the Bears.
