  1. Great first inning for Garcia, popped 91 and 92 on the gun against Lee
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) He's another guy that let the money take over his personality. This guy is a cancer and needs to be out of baseball. Really? Wasn't he basically like this when he came up?
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) I am very much looking forward to Asik. Will probably take over for Miller on the roster and he could be a very good bench guy. Athletic, big and plays D. It's entirely possible Miller could be resigned as well.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Extra 30 minutes of play first. So 30 min sudden death, then a shootout.
  5. So does this game go to a shootout if it ends in a tie?
  6. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) So tell me again why Viciedo is up here? I think at this point, KW has to realize that was a mistake.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) So where are the flu vaccines from the countries with socialized medicine? The EU approved one version a few years ago. The federal government in this country is planning to spend some $500 million to apply the technology and build manufacturing facilities for it in this country.
  8. One of these words doesn't seem to make sense...
  9. Using a graphic from failblog without permission...now that's a fail.
  10. Somewhere, there's a ridiculously cruel turtle soup joke to be made here. Kap?
  11. What y'all ought to realize out of those posts is how pathetically bad the Cubs's bad contracts really are. We could be dumping every one of our bad contracts for one of theirs, and we'd still be giving up too much.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) What about this Robinson Chirinos kid? He looked great when I saw him at AAA, but I don't think they're that high on him, he ought to be at least one level up.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) I wonder if Oz would get criticized heavily for letting, say, Peavy throw 150 to complete a no no. Yeah, there'd be some worry. I'd worry. I'd want him to skip a start after that.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) Again, why are the Rays going to trade Crawford when they're trying to win their own division? We've got to look to add players from teams that are nearing the point of no return in terms of being in contention, or players that contending teams have no use for. Otherwise, you're just dreaming. I'm sure the Rays will be thrilled to trade Crawford when we offer them that Strasburg kid. He looks great.
  15. Maybe Zambrano's really angry about the oil spill?
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) And again, you won't have to worry about Bobby making the All Star Game. Since we're still on this point...there's one other thing that having a truly dominant, all-star closer does to an opponent...it forces the opponent to game plan for that closer. For example...you're playing the Yankees, you're down 1, with the bottom of your order up in the 8th inning and maybe you get a runner on...what do you do? You play like hell to get that game tied, because you have no confidence in your ability to get the tie in the 9th. On the other hand, if you're facing a weaker or strugging closer, you might try to play things differently and maybe still shoot for the win in the 8th, because you still think you have a shot in the 9th.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Ok! This is what I was going to post before I read Kalapse's statement. RW hasn't pitched for two weeks. He really only had one bad outing-or real bad depending on your point of view-and that's when the Marlins clubbed him May 23rd. Other than that he hasn't done all that bad so fitting the role of situational lefty hasn't been a debacle by any means. I think Ozzie might like him to do a couple of innings of mop up also, but really there hasn't been any need the way our starters have dominated. When our starters were struggling 3 weeks ago, the need for a long man was much greater. Now, we could genuinely use a 2nd lefty.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) I'd like to see Hynick up at AAA. Torres or Hudson or both should be in the Sox bullpen. They will be sooner or later this year. No urge at all to see Hudson as a reliever. I want him pitching innings so that he's ready to take the 5 spot next year. Torres, ok.
  19. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) Zambrano has exploded a few times but Milton Bradley has gone up to the announcer box because of a negative comment and Artest well I dont really have to explain but he is responsible for one of the most embarassing moments in basketball history. Both Artest and Bradley have gone after the people in the crowd, that's one thing I can't remember Zambrano doing.
  20. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 05:06 AM) How is it possible that he threw 149 pitches? Im pretty sure that you are suppose to die if you go over 100 If I were the DBacks, I'd try to find a way to give him an extra few days rest, or just skip a start.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) I was going to write this. I never thought I'd say this because it seems crazy to say but now it's kind of boring to see these no-hitters. The reason they're special is because you only get to see one every couple of years, and a perfect game maybe every 5 years. Now you see a no-hitter every couple of weeks. Apparently, in 1990, there were 5 no hitters by this date, there have been 4 this year.

    QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 10:27 AM) Fat Tire is delicious. I'm loving their 1554.

Well, the Billy Corgans are coming to Knoxville later this month and I grabbed myself a ticket.
  24. Well, the good news is that you guys are going to get a test of your mantra, that what we really should be doing now is cutting back on stimulus and balancing budgets, because the world is going that way. So if you're wrong, even though we'll have a worldwide lost decade or so, at least, we'll know.
