  1. The more I think about it, the less I want Kotsay on the major league team. If he's up here, and he's deteriorated as badly as people say in the outfield, then Ozzie will surely play him out there way too much. I'd rather just not give him the option.
  2. Kotsay isn't an OF anymore? Man, the last I remember of him was that he was a great CF. When I first heard this, I thought it was an incredible trade, but not so much if he can't even play the OF. I'm sort of sad that Anderson has to go to the Red Sox, as I now have to hate him. If there's a team out there that can tap into any offensive potential, it's the Red Sox or Rangers. That makes me happy for him.
  3. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) Jeter, Ripken Jr etc (good leaders) do not go that route. I think it's classless. Didn't Ripken supposedly travel separately from the rest of the team, and even occasionally stayed in different hotels? I'm not sure he's the guy I'd use as an example.
  4. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) Is that English? I said it that way, instead of adding a "what" to the front of it, to emphasize the fact that it seemed absurd to me.
  5. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:28 AM) Tyler Flowers can't come soon enough. AJ's act is getting old. The f***?
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) Agreed. As a society we should be using him as an example of leading a life by the rules. Show kids that no matter what good they may do, they can undo it by a stupid choice. And to kind of agree with some that his accomplishment should be recognized, go ahead, put in a plaque that reads he would have been enshrined here, but he is banned. Recognize the record holder and hold him up as an example of the integrity of the game. By allowing him back in we are telling kids there are two sets of rules in society. Become famous enough and you can piss on everyone. As SS said Bulls***. But, that is true.
  7. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) What about Shoeless Joe? If Petey gets back in, then he should as well. Yeah, if you're going to lift a lifetime ban on a guy who's only been banned a couple dozen years, then you should sure as hell lift the lifetime ban of a guy whose lifetime has already passed.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 01:42 AM) Philosophies that are on opposite ends of the spectrum. I'll take KW any day of the week. And a ring.
  9. That's more like it. Somewhere along the line, I passed you in levels. I'm not sure how that happened.
  10. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) I never thought I would get into it but I actually have. I just hate the fact that you have to have XX number of people in your mafia to do certain things. I'm not the type to go out and friend 500 people I don't even know just to play that game. As of now, I'm stuck with just 19 mafia members. You're probably one of the people I attack constantly to level up quicker. You just need to friend them until they're in your mafia, then you de-friend them. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) Texsox and Steff are the best Mafia Wars peeps. I give you gifts all the time, ass. See if that keeps up.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) I no longer disagree with keeping him over BA. I still disagree with it, but I love the guy now.
  12. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) Keep this list growing: *No Hitter *Perfect Game *Hit a Homerun *World Series Champion *Won a game in the World Series *Saved a game in the same World Series *Started an All-Star Game *3 Time All-star and growing. . . . . what else is there Sox fans: I believe the World Series save was the very next game after his starting win in the World Series. That makes it sound even more impressive. He also started all but one of the opening games since 2002, I think. The man has really had a storybook career to this point.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) Mr. Perfect Picture I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I love you.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) Should have been his 2nd perfect game to be honest. Agreed. From what I remember, that walk to Sosa was almost definitely not a walk. At the very least, it was extremely questionable.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) Don't make promises you can't keep. But I think it's safe to say that BA is officially a ghost now. No, I will keep it. I will never say a bad word about him again (although I may say I want him off the team at some point, ha).
  16. This guy might've just earned himself a spot in the Hall of Fame with a few more seasons of winning. I love Mark Buehrle. I was driving back to work from a meeting at another location, but decided to stop at home on the way back to catch the final inning. So happy that I did. P.S. - I bumped my own thread to apologize to Wise.
  17. I swear on everything, I will never speak a bad word about Dewayne Wise again in my life. Ban me if I do. Please delete this thread.
  18. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 05:32 AM) Atlanta is 5.5 games out of first. We will see what happens if they are actually in contention down the stretch. Exactly. I fully expect him to collapse when any amount of pressure is applied.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 07:21 AM) Lame by me. Yeah, that sucked.
  20. I, for one, think BigEdWalsh is the coolest poster on this site.
  21. Happy birthday, TheBigHurt. Very solid start by Torres. And you just saw our eventual new closer tonight. Trade Jenks while you can still get a pretty good haul for him because we have his replacement already.
