Mono
Mono sucks, my friend. And I hope you don't have it. I had it for two weeks about two years ago, and I might've left my room about 5 times during that span. I also lost a few pounds. I also believe it wasn't as serious as most people get it, because I never went to the doctor and just waited it out. Some people have it for months.

Piper looked so bad that it was hilarious. Couldn't stop laughing at him. And watching Slaughter try to dance was also great.

More bad vibes regarding Brian Anderson
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) I'm never wrong. If he's moved, something was indeed up. We've been so willing to bring up guys like Crede and Rowand to let them develop at their own pace, more or less - more than one season as well. There has to be something that we don't know about. Neither of those guys were nearly as bad as Anderson was this year. People are looking hard for a reason for the team wanting to rid themselves of this guy, such as his attitude, etc. But, maybe the team just feels that he sucks way too much to stick with him until he sucks just little enough to be serviceable?

Daisuke Matsuzaka signs
I did not know that Boras was his agent.

Francisco Liriano out for 2007
Well, back to a two-team race in the AL Central next year. That is, barring something of this nature happening to either of the other good teams or some kind of miracle.

Crede doesn't get the gold glove.
I would like for them to just get rid of this award all together.

Olin Kreutz re-signs
Aw, f***. Kreutz resigned from the Bears?

Stupid, Hilarious Videos
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) AND BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE I've watched that, and I can't laugh. It's just so freaking sad. The sad part is that the kid realizes how badly he's doing about a minute into it, and that makes him screw up even more.

Sheffield for Freddy?
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) Guess we'll have to see how much all that matters next year. I'm simply of the opinion Freddy Garcia will have a better 2007 than Mark Buehrle. Plus, I don't know if I want to pay Buehrle what he's going to demand for a contract extension. As much as I dislike Garcia, I'm inclined to agree with you. If he can regain his velocity (as he claims), then he can have one of his best years in 2007. He could have his normal velocity, a splitter, and possibly better control in a contract year. If the FO is convinced that he actually will regain that speed, then I'd ride out his final year of the contract.

Hinrich re-signs with the Bulls
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Oh, let me see if I can read the entire post that was written: In this particular instance it wasn't difficult to figure out. However, this is a common occurrance. In some instances it IS very misleading in the headline of a topic. I am very sorry if I insulted you Milkman, but sometimes it is better to be corrected and possibly learn from mistakes rather than keep on doing the same crap over and over again even though it is wrong. Possibly you did not know this and you are now trying to put me down because you didn't. That is fine, but at least you know now. Plus if you resign your position you are not necessarily resigning from your profession. In most cases you certainly are not. If he would have resigned from the Bulls he could and most probably would sign with another team. This happens all the time. I'm surprised you did not know this as well. I am not saying it happens with players on sports teams, but it is common in all professions. A possible example for a professional athletic team is Aramis Ramirez with the Cubs. He basically resigned his position with the Cubs. He may or may not be back with the team, but he will definitely sign on with some other organization in professional baseball. I just think it's ridiculous that you're correcting grammar on the internet. To my knowledge, I use correct grammar here all the time. I just don't tell people to do the same.

Hinrich re-signs with the Bulls
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Guys, it is re-sign, not resign. He re-signed the contract with the Bulls. He did not resign his position with the Bulls. Please, it really isn't that difficult. The two words are pretty much complete opposites, so to put the wrong one in the headline of a topic can be very misleading. Anyways, it is very nice to see. I am a big fan of Hinrich and what he brings to the team. Yeah, not writing re-sign is almost as ridiculous as someone seeing the headline and thinking, "My gosh, Hinrich has resigned from the sport of Basketball."

Little blurb from the Trib on CNNSI
What about Rollins and Young at SS and 2B, respectively. That'd be nice.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Ok. Well, I know it makes me less of a fan. Clearly I can't be anywhere near the fan of any Chicago team as someone from, say...wheaton. I just like my team's players to prove themselves for more than a few games against pretty bad teams before I call them great. The defense, and most of the players on it, have proven themselves many times over the course of years. There are flukes every year in football, and I believe Grossman is one right now.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Yup. I still don't have faith in him at all. I believe he'll fold when he faces a good defense or finds himself having to carry any significant load. This team still is dependent on the defense. It's nice to get turnovers to be able to start in the redzone constantly.

So, today's game? Wow. Maybe Griese or even Orton will see some PT today.

Worst Team To Ever Win the World Series
QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) I bet Cards fans care as much about being called the "worst World Series winners ever" as much as we cared about people calling the Sox "lucky" after the Graffanino error, the AJ "steal of first" and the Biggio dropped popup. Which is to say, not one bit at all. I don't think anyone is trying to make Cardinals fans feel worse about winning. In fact, I'd say nearly all of us are happy to have seen them win. It's just practically undeniable that this is the worst WS champion any of us have ever seen.

Detroit Tigers World Series Thread
QUOTE(WCSox @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) Casey - Below average would be putting it nicely. Watching Casey in the WS, I was pretty unimpressed with him play at 1B. Nothing he did seemed too good. I think I'd label him average, at best. I remember one play where they might've gotten the runner out on a close play (probably was Eckstein, but not sure), but he didn't seem to extend his body far enough to allow the ball to beat the runner. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) I didn't mean that, I meant win a world title as they did, having been through one now. Hey, I'm cool with that as long as the same thing happens between when said team fails and eventually wins the WS.

Dave Roberts looking like a strong possibility
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 29, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I'm a big fan of signing Roberts as a stop gap. .344 career obp which isn't fantastic but he can run and has a real good steal rate, so he'd be in scoring position a decent amount. Ozzie also gets his speed at the top of the order and he's a pretty nice upgrade over Pods. He also shouldn't be that expensive so I think it'd be a nice value sign. I'm all for it. All of those things, plus he'd bring another veteran presence, a team-oriented attitude, and he's just flat out a good guy. I'd really like this signing.

Worst Team To Ever Win the World Series
I wouldn't say it's embarrassing for baseball, but I would certainly agree that this has to be one of the worst champions in the history of baseball. To use a wrestling term, the Cardinals seem to be transitional champs.

Happy One Year Anniversary!!!!
The White Sox have won the World Series, and they're mobbing each other on the field!

Sox interested in A-Rod?
Seeing as I'm very lazy, can someone once again tell me if there's actually a chance this happens? Or is it just speculation?

The Cardinals have already surpassed all of the expectations I had for them in this series. I can't believe they've won 2 games.
