  1. SIU vs Western Kentucky tonite on ESPN3 for the 5 people interested
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) Tim Brown ‏@TBrownYahoo Jason Bay is nearing a decision. Indians, Mariners, couple others teams are possibilities. and the Mets are waiting to point and laugh
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 09:32 AM) I prefer Chavez over them all, as he gives you the best chance to win. I dont trust his ability to remain healthy. The yankees were pretty good about protecting him and giving him days off and such. I have a feeling if he comes to the Sox, there will be little platoon because of the dropoff from him to Morel, and this will lead to a lot of the problems that derailed his career.
  4. QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) A bit of an understatement. Keppinger had a career year at age 32 with a BABIP well above his average. Chances he comes close to what he did offensively are slim. Likeliest scenario is an average bat who is a sieve in the field. I think "not that strong" was in reference to his defense
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) http://www.houstontexans.com/tv-media/phot...18-981add75062e Gave 12 kids 80 seconds to fill their carts at Toys -R- Us Isn't he the same guy who was sued by his ex-wife for child support? I just read that he was being sued for MORE child support and she wanted to move out of state. So it's not like he wasnt paying, she wanted more money
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) I know, its just a bad spot for me because no matter what I say it sounds like sour grapes. Just go with "Ha! f*** it! See ya!" Wisconsin will be fine, im sure Alvarez will pick a fine successor
  7. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Sorry. I'll just go be an Evansville fan. At least they have a cool mascot. Do they? I dont think anything tops Western Kentuckys red blob/Grimace's bastard son
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) That may be true if I actually had any control over who the Wisconsin coach was. I really thought hed be the coach until Ferentz left Iowa, my disdain for him is pretty well known. hence the green and the jk
  9. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) The game ended on a 50-17 run. 50-17! What the f***? I give up. I'll just be an SIU fan so I don't get my hopes up. Hey now, we still remember what its like being in the tournament, dont get sassy
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) If that is his goal, his move makes no sense. The top dogs of the SEC arent going to hire in conference from little brother. Ive read this theory other places as well, but I always felt Bielema's ceiling was University of Iowa. I literally thought Wisconsin was stuck with him until Ferentz retired. Maybe Im missing something here, but I have never been a Bielema fan. The guy generally finds a way to lose by doing something stupid. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/badgers/bie...-136556583.html "Basically what happened was, I know his foot touched the line," Bielema said. "It gets down to an issue of where the ball is. I was trying to get a read from my sideline official if we could review forward momentum. He didn't understand the question where I was at, and that's why they charged me a timeout." Because UW had burned a timeout four plays earlier when the staff recognized the Badgers weren't aligned properly, the Badgers were left with just one timeout for the final 25:45 of the game. "They knew that what I was trying to get answered was answered the proper way," Bielema said, "so they came back and (charged) me another timeout instead of using the challenge. So that's where it was at." ----- "you know my ex girlfriend wasnt all that hot anyways. And I really dont know why she is going to that nerdy guy that makes a little bit more money than me. He is such a loser." Jk
  11. did he accidentally get his fingers caught in the net?
  12. holy s*** did they lock down Carmichael
  13. @Ten_Foot_Midget: Publisher of @profootballwkly, @Hub_Arkush, just told @boers_bernstein that Gruden is in talks to coach the Oakland Raiders.
  14. Dom Decicco re-signed. Also signed FB Harvey Unga and assigned him to the practice squad. So i guess Geno Hayes will slide in and Nick Roach will slide over, with Decicco as the rotating guy. I think i might go and get sick, brb
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) That is a lot of money and years for a 37 year old singles hitter. Lots of goofy contracts being given out. $38 million for Victorino? I've always really liked him, but he was incredibly mediocre last year. beat me to it. He was really good for the Giants, but signing him until he is 40 is not what I would call responsible
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 03:07 PM) Some people like stats, some people don't. Let's just stop with that discussion because at this point in time, we know which side on which everyone lies, it's no longer productive, and it's only going to go downhill from here. --- How about we look at different possibilities for the Sox? Hell, I hate coming up with hypothetical trades because there's a 1 in a 50,000 shot of it ever coming true, but that will conjure up some good discussion, so someone throw that into the mix. Who is legitimately available from the Orioles for whom the Sox could trade Floyd? It is difficult to see where the Sox and Orioles matchup, because I dont see that they have a 3rd base prospect (besides Machado) that is worth anything. Possibly the matchup with them is prospects to flip for a 3rd baseman from another team, and in that I have no idea what the other team would be looking for
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Oh boy...not this again. Please, HahnSolo,make a move... Cubs Greed-O shot first
  18. Boras is probably trying to use Detroits recent freespending ways to drive up the price on Soriano with the Yankees
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) Sun rose. Mark Prior broke both legs getting out of bed. and will begin kicking towels when his rehab begins
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Yeah, I understand...I have always been in the minority with him...but do you really think Granderson is going to be anywhere near the same player without that short porch to launch to for 81 games? You know what is odd, last season was really the only season where it was a big difference for him homerun wise. Last season he hit 9 more at home, year before that only 1 more, and in 2010 4 more at home. I thought he was abusing that launching pad too, but only last year i guess
  21. The Rangers FO have become a different animal since Nolan Ryan took over, I have no doubt that Olt will be a costly player if they make him available. If I were them, I wouldnt deal him though. Beltre has never been a particularly durable player throughout his career, and he is no spring chicken.
  22. Im not blood spatter/nurse/doctor, but dont the wounds on the back of Zimmermans head look like he was sliced by something as opposed to having his head rammed into the concrete over and over?
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) Huh...not used to seeing the Yankees act fiscally responsible they have a long way to go before fiscally responsible is attained. Boras still plays their checkbook like a fiddle
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 08:29 AM) Actually, he never did and stuck by his guns the whole time, and I think he has a point. The selection committee chooses the teams with best overall resumes to get in the tournament, not the teams that they think have the best chance to win a game. VCU's run in the tourney doesn't necessarily validate that their resume was deserving of a NCAA bid. (I'm agreeing with his line of thinking, not which team had a better resume at the time) That's a big difference with this NIU thing. The basketball tourney is a subjective decision. The BCS has a list of rules & stipulations that must occur in order for a team like NIU to qualify. Those rules were agreed upon by the major conferences. And all those crazy stipulations happened, so NIU is in the BCS, they weren't just "chosen" by a committee. The human voters had like 9 or 10 non-BCS teams ahead of them, so it's not like they thought they were a top-10 team. You are 100 percent correct, my mistake. There is always someone who just wants to complain in these shows, lol
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2012 -> 08:01 AM) Or the reaction to VCU in the 2011 Big Dance... Bilas admitted he was wrong fairly quickly IIRC. He was the "Herbstreit" in that manufactured outrage segment. I actually like Bilas, he called the Kansas SIU sweet 16 game in 07 and was nothing but complimentary.
