3ds is kind of stuck in an odd spot. For one, they have 2 different sizes and prices that came out one after another basically, and two the WiiU basically comes with a 3ds in that remote. I know it doesn't work outside the range of the machine, but it still is a little competition within its own company. Plus, regular DS still work fine and people use them still. Nintendo flooded the market with their own stuff and it is hurting their sales. They are starting to get people to buy 3ds with their newer smb games though
