  1. I think they have the fat reserves for the extra energy needed for playing a lot.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:25 AM) What was Konerko, 21 or 22? Danks is 26. So what? You keep riding that, some guys take longer to get to the big leagues. He went to college, he didnt start the minors until he was 22, Konerko went straight to the minors at 18. Look, I get it DA, you dont think he is worth complaining that he is going to the minors. I dont think it is a big deal either, i actually prefer him to get regular ABs for the next 3 weeks as well. But I certainly dont think he is awful and is never going to amount to anything.
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) that's a .900 OPS... 49 at bats. That was konerkos line over 3 seperate seasons. After 49 at bats? .195/.277/.195. Ops .472 http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...b&year=1998
  4. This Belarus woman had her gold stripped from her in shotput
  5. Dunns good times were pretty much tied to Konerkos. Dunn started to fall off as soon as Konerko's wrist became an issue.
  6. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 03:13 AM) I made the ball go very far by using a wood bat, a well-timed swing, and my large rear end for leverage. If you don't have a large rear end, then yeah, a quintuple-walled bat may be the thing for you. Yeah, but going very far in the 1980s was 275, I have to send it 325 i'll get off your lawn now
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) Stoney forgot to renew his passport? Probably just wants to spend a weekend home with his younger skinny blonde wife
  8. Kiffin is such a dumbass http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/story?storyId=8263986
  9. Hopefully the Sox can overcome the house of horrors that the Skydome/Rogers Centre has been since....ever. The Blue Jays are severely depleted due to injury, this has to be taken advantage of. GO SOX!
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) .621 OPS .347 SLG Danks is awful. Come on, really? 49 at bats? Paul konerko was sitting at .216/.319/.590 after 397 at bats. Let's give him a little more than spot duty before we kick dirt over his grave
  11. i hope it isnt Santiago. 2 outs, 2 walks, 2 runs isnt what im looking forward to
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) What does "occasional" mean in your definition? The best Twins teams in the last decade lost between 0-3 games all season when leading going into the 8th inning. how did they do in the playoffs?

Since this is quite a noteworthy subject for us at the moment with Hudson and Olmedo currently rounding out the infield depth, I thought I would create a thread for discussion of possible candidates off the waiver wire or plucked from free agency if waived after passing through the waiver process. Candidates At the Moment Jose Lopez, DFA on August 7th, released today by Indians Mike Aviles, placed on waivers August 12th by Red Sox Mike Fontenot, Already cleared waivers, currently a free agent please add any utility infielders that you feel would be good bench players for a few months
  14. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) I know you whippersnappers love the Affliction graphics and the lovely sound of "TINK! TINK! TINK!", but in MYYYYYY DAAAAAYYYYYY, WOOD WAS GOOD! Now GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!!!!! Mostly I love the ball going very far
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) It would have sucked to lose ground to the Tigers this week seeing how we played lesser opponents. Losing 2 of 3 to the royals still pisses me off. And Thornton blowing the lead last night doesnt sit with me well either. Over the next month, they need to iron out some of the lapses and bad decisions if they want a shot at the playoffs.
  16. Good to pick up a game on the tigers going into their respective series. Detroit is heading to Minnesota, and they could easily sweep them. Hopefully Anibal Sanchez continues his bad pitching and the Twins offense can do some damage.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) I saw it last night, and it was easily the 2nd best in the "Bourne" movies. Bourne Identiy > Bourne Legacy > Bourne Ultimatum ? Bourne Supremacy It was really quite good. That surprises me, I have read a lot of "meh" reviews of it. Nothing terribly bad, but a lot of criticism of it being far too long and the story containing a ridiculous MacGuffin
  18. Wow, game has been over for an hour and a half and still no Winner thread
  19. I wouldnt mind Felipe Lopez over Olmedo and Hudson Or Jose.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) Wow, your league is a lot more official than ours. No one checks our bats for anything. I could probably easily get a cheater bat and no one would know. I played for 4 years in Carbondale, when I moved back to the Chicagoland area and started playing in Arlington heights, the difference was light and day, it was like high school vs minor leagues. There are some serious tourney teams in my league, and we have had our asses whipped by them a few times. We played our best game possible last fall in te championship game and lost 36-27 to the 3rd team in state. And it wasn't even that close
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) Have you ever "rolled" or "shaved" a bat before? I had never even heard of it until a couple weeks ago when the team we slaughtered had the ump check my bat to see if it was "shaved". Our league bought a machine that does a density check on our bats. If it doesn't pass, you can't use your bat. If it passes, they put a special silver sticker over the top of the bat that you cannot remove. If it is removed they can consider the bat shaved and it can be confiscated. If it is confiscated, it gets sent to the state softball headquarters, if it is found to be altered you could face banning from the league. It all comes down to injury liability in our league. Cheater bats increase the chance of injury in their eyes.
  22. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) Danks and Flowers hit two important homers, so let's play neither of them and instead play Wise and Olmedo. Whats the rational behind this? I'm sick of Ventura giving away games every sunday with these terrible lineups. The rationale is that you need a 3rd baseman, and neither Flowers or Danks plays third
  23. QUOTE (Carter224 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Yeah right they got killed by Peyton Manning stop throwin bait
  24. Lets finish this homestand on a high note. GO SOX!
