Greg, why do you think anything is ok because of Rush Limbaugh? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) But he didn't say it to the woman. He tweeted it. He wasn't asking for a fight. I'm sure he's probably offended people in print before. I think his defense could be that he is a comedian at times as well as writer. Ah, so if you tweet, email, or write it, then it automatically makes it ok. Gotcha. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) If Cowley is suspended that is stupid. He's a f***ing sportswriter. Sportswriter's travel a lot and have opinions. People who dissent can call him out and put their opinion on twitter as well. He calls flite attendants ugly? Big f***ing deal. They can come back and say passengers who sleep with their mouths open like sportswriters are uglier. He rips the female pilot? Why can't somebody just come back and call him sexist and make their point? Somebody could point out that a lot of the medical personnel who treated him over his medical problem were uh, FEMALES. Intelligent, brilliant females. Fight back instead of being politically correct. Why should he be fired for bad humor??? If he threatens somebody's life and MEANS IT ... fine. he did notthing really wrong but represent himself like a sexist jerk. Those he offended can blast back, but fire him??? Grow up world. Hmm, maybe he should focus more on sportswriting then. Just curious greg, if you talked to a woman like that while representing your employer, would you think that your employer would look the other way? You DO work in a similar field, no? -
So small side story here, the Brooklyn Nets unveiled their team colors and new logos today. Team colors are......black and white.

It is funny that everytime someone dares to contradict Cowley, he flips it into "I'm the only one who does all the work around here" and insults the person who disagreed with him. Hmmm, he sure "acts" insecure -
Apparently fans are giving Sheffield a mock "Goldberg" chant now. I wonder if WWE tries to get back Goldberg back for a 1 night only match with Ryback since he has said in the past few years that he wouldn't mind returning for another match to show his kid what he did for a living.

United Center plans retail space

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) Oh I get why, I'm just not sure how. The Sox have been in the stadium for over 20 years now, and there is still nothing to do over there. Bridgeport blows away the area that that UC is in, once you get off of the main drag. The project around the cell only really started within the last 5 years though. It should have started immediately when it was built, but for whatever reason they waited -
watching the highlights from that game, I see Josh Smith going bombs away from just inside the 3pt line. Atlanta better not try and ride that to the promise land

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) The problem is that if a good chunk of the area is extremely poor (median number at minimum wage for example) how far are you willing to travel for somewhere to hang out? Like I said, if they are trying to rebuild the area they have to start somewhere. I believe if Jerry sees money to be made, he will invest. He is trying to do the same thing around the Cell, and that place isnt exactly in the wealthiest neighborhood either -
how many times do you think the headline "look out Below!" has been used for that guy

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) The problem is that a good chunk of those are the same fans over and over again who have season tickets. I seriously doubt the guy who has season tickets is going to go out every night. I bet the number of unique fans is much less than that. We are also looking at this in that the only people going to these restaurants are going to be fans after a game. If a restaurant is good, people will come. If it sucks, even the fans wont show up to eat. The UC is accessible, it isnt buried in a back-alley corner. And besides, if they are attempting a gentrification project, it has to start somewhere. You have to imagine Jerry sees dollar signs if he is investing this kind of money into it. He doesnt throw money around like it grows on trees -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) You could have believed that until he puffed out his chest afterwards. He puffed out his chest as he was delivering the bump. Amazingly stupid from a player that should know better

I just watched the replay of Rondo bumping the official, and his postgame comments when he says it was unintentional and he tripped on someones foot and didnt expect the ref to stop. What a load of s***, lol I dont know how he expects anyone to believe that. Knowing the way Stern hands out discipline, I expect Rondo to be suspended for the first 3 minutes of game two and have a $200 fine

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 07:50 AM) So far, the one thing we can say about this team is they appear to be incredibly streaky. The offense is streaky, the starting pitching and most of the relief pitching is solid as a rock, if not spectacular. If we get to a point where we arent holding our hopes out on Konerko going 4-4 with 3 RBIs in a 3-1 win, I think the extreme streaks we are seeing will disappear.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 02:35 AM) Double that number. You forgot two teams play there 82-100. There are constant events at the UC. Concerts, Circuses, Sporting events. There are many nights when there will be many people at the UC. -
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) So first row sports is not working, anyone else know a good spot to watch this online?? If anyone knows, they need to PM it to you

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) What has the Sun Times broken in the last few years from those better sources? Cooper is a Judas! Ooooh wait that was more of Cowleys agenda.... -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) Why is it absurd? Let's examine tonight's game. Statistically, the team that scores first has a much better chance of winning the game, especially at home. Agree or disagree? We just gave up a run there in the first inning. It should be 1-0, if not for another mental mistake. Will you say that run scoring wasn't a turning point in the game? With a four-game losing streak, every little thing can be a turning point. Like I said earlier, Peavy not throwing a strike on the fourth pitch of the game was the turning point.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Just like the Santiago blown save and the rest of the A's series happened. You get a big shot of confidence when your team is scuffling and you can get out to a big lead early at home. With what happened, you leave those runners on 2nd and 3rd, you have the missed opportunity (part of a continuing trend with our offense) and the pressure's back on Danks to hold the lead. We just gave up another run when Dunn didn't pick up the 3rd base coach when he would have easily scored had he looked at Ross or McEwing. But it doesn't matter if you waste opportunities like this in the early innings I guess. Don't try and change this into "kyle doesn't believe in turning points". That isn't my argument. I absolutely believe in turning points in games and seasons. What I said was your choice of turning points was absurd. A first inning double where your team takes the lead is not a turning point to a loss, even if it was this ->

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Only 17 hits and 4 walks in 29 2/3rd's IP now for Peavy. Down to 1.82 ERA. So you still think if Grady Sizemore caught that ball against the Royals so many years ago, the Indians still would have lost every game from there on out? Guess there's no such thing as a turning point. I think Danks coughed up the lead twice. Specifically in the 6th inning when he gave up 5. Oh wait, I know it. It happened. I'm not predicting anything here, just telling you what happened. You on the other hand seem to think something magical would have happened to Danks s***ty night pitching if AJ gave him 3 runs to work with instead of 1. Grady Sizemore has nothing to do with it
-
Well we just had the turning point of the game. If Peavy had thrown a strike on his fourth pitch, he would have had a perfect game.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 05:59 PM) Honest Question: If someone blows an ACL like Rose, was it bound to happen eventually? Didnt seem like he stressed it too much on the play. This is what I think, it could have happened in the last 2 minutes of the first game, or the first two minutes of the second game if he sat out the end of the 4th quarter. he made an absolutely normal(for him) hop at the end of his dribble, and there was no contact at all. he just planted, and it gave out. I dont blame Thibs, in my opinion his ACL was ready to pop and it did. It totally sucks, but him being on the court at whatever time of the game had nothing to do with it. IMO the stress of the season contributed to the myriad of injuries and culminated in his knee finally giving out.
