  1. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 04:06 AM) Another dead wrestler under 50 years of age: http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/5829.html - Former WWE Superstar, boxer and politician Tony "Ludvig Borga" Halme was found dead in his apartment at age 47 yesterday. Borga worked for WWE in 1993 and 1994 and most notably feuded with Lex Luger. After retiring from pro wrestling, he tried MMA out and later served in parliament in Finland from 2003-2007. Interesting trivia, Halme was Randy Coutures first MMA fight. Couture won by choke in 53 seconds

    QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 06:40 AM) For me it's not even that. Even if 75% of what they churn out is crap, I'd rather see original crap than unoriginal, entirely derivative crap. I don't spend my life railing against it other than commenting here, but really, is there even a point to some of these "reboots" when sometimes their near shot-for-shot remakes of the original source film (see, John Moore's 2006 The Omen as one of the premier examples). FlaSoxx, I dont want to sound like I am coming down on you specifically about it. Like I said, it just gets old for me. I would rather hear "that movie looks like its going to suck" as opposed to "how unoriginal" because of the fact that a large portion of hollywood is not based on original film scripts and is based on other peoples work, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Batman, Wizard of Oz etc. I agree a lot of the remakes reboots reimagine-ings are crap, but there are some that are stuck in there that actually work(Star Trek) and I enjoy. But I remember when Star Trek came out, the same "how unoriginal" "aw another reboot?" complaints came out and it just wears thin. You know that I appreciate a lot of the same things in film/books/comics that you do, this is just conversation to me, no hard feelings

    QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) Ach, there looks to be plenty of crap coming out of the Hollywood for the forseeable future, and you are more than welcome to my share of it. The original stuff isnt the fluff and filler that you complain about. The original stuff is usually the oscar-worthy stuff and the movies you see at Sundance and Cannes.
  4. Oooooooo, next Zelda title supposedly due in October
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) So, where is this helmet to helmet hit the Pack fans are complaining about? The play previous to the fumble, a holding call went against the packers but Bertrand Berry led with the helmet and hit Rodgers square under the jaw. Im no Packer fan but it was a H2H hit

    really, the "Hollywood hasnt had an original idea in....." thing is worn out for me. A great amount of modern day classics are based on books and novellas and novels and comics. Who cares that a movie is based on a TV show, or its a reboot, or a remake, or a comic book franchise that was considered dead. If the subject matter interests you, watch it. If it doesnt, whats the point in saying "Hollywood hasnt had an original idea in....." every time something comes out? And I am not saying this because I think A Team is going to be fantastic and I really want to see it. I post movie trailers when I see them because I think they are good starts of conversations. To me, a directors vision of a movie is the important element of the film, not the subject matter. Batman was reinvented by Burton, ruined by Schumaker, and reborn to a greater degree by Nolan. Did everyone throw stones at this franchise and say "Hollywood hasnt had an original idea in...."? Not that I can remember. And If they did, it was unwarranted and proven wrong. Does anyone expect A team to be an Oscar winner? Do you expect it to be anything other than a popcorn action flick? So a popular 80's show gets a film treatment, why the big fuss?
  7. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) Just heard on ESPN Radio that some are projecting that Tim Tebow might get drafted int he first round. That.... is a wasted pick. According to ESPN. If you read the article that they are reporting off of, they say "some GMs and coaches feel he will be drafted first round" and then they say Tony Dungy thinks he will go first round. Nobody on an NFL team will assign their name to that report because I am pretty sure they know he wont be a first round draftee. If he is drafted first round, whoever drafts him better know something that nobody else knows
  8. Good news for UFCs best heel and best heavyweight. Losing him would really suck
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 07:53 AM) The rotation looks good going into 2010. Hopefully it looks just as good when the season is over. That's really all that matters. Honestly I think everything depends on health. If these 4(5) can stay healthy, I cant imagine a scenario where they would have worse production than normal
  10. QUOTE (since56 @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) Branyon? No way, not what Ozzie wants. This will probably get laughed at, but how about Vizquel and bat him second? Why doesnt Ozzie want a left handed power hitter?

    QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) I assume the movie ends when they're hired by Blackwater? Or thats where it begins
  15. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) really impressed by Benson,where was that when he was with the Bears? Taking himself out of the superbowl, thats where. This is why I hate him so much, we all knew he had it, and he had to be kicked to the curb to show it instead of just acting like a grown man and trying to earn his paycheck.

  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) They're kids. kids are stupid. case in point
  18. The Wizards are completely erasing any sign of Arenas from their arena. They also fined 4 players that joked around with him in that team huddle pic 10 grand. Im sorry, but it is getting pretty ridiculous at this point. Im not denying that Arenas did something totally stupid and fine/suspension worthy, but Crittendon seems to of gotten a complete pass on the situation and they are talking about Arenas being booted from the league now.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if 1-2 of them had solid seasons. I wouldnt be surprised either, but it doesnt make me scared of them being on the Royals and sad that we let them go and traded them.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) Alright, with Vlad off the market, you have to take a look at signing JD and rotating the DH/RF spot between him and TCQ. Give them each plenty of rest and also use the DH for Konerko some with Kotsay taking over 1st. That would keep all 3 of the older players well-rested (JD, Konerko, Kotsay), as well as give TCQ plenty of chances to DH and stay out of harm's way. At this point, JD is easily the best target who can be had and could fit in our budget, and he'd sign a one-year incentive-laden contract. Vlad isnt off the market yet. He may of been offered, but he hasnt signed yet(that I can find)

    QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 12:25 AM) Saw Daybreakers. It was ok. Not too much was special about it, and the ending worked out a little too neatly. I read a similar review on Screenrant.com. They said the action seemed forced and the storyline was just meh. However they did indicate that the brothers who directed the movie had a lot of promise
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) And in what, 2 years, Carroll will wash out in Seattle and take the newly open job at Florida/Notre Dame/Michigan. I agree with this. They are saying Seattle is going to give him GM and Coach duties, not quite the same as being head coach at USC, just ask Butch Davis how that worked out
