  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) Speaking of Maggs, holy s*** I had forgotten that he had a near MVP season for Detroit in 2007. Hit .363 with 28 HR, 139 RBI, but finished 2nd in MVP to a roided up ARod who hit 54 HR. Im not willing to discount the fact that Magglio could have been roiding himself.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 02:03 PM) Oh, Aaron Hernandez indicted on murder. *shocked*
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 12:44 PM) Or seeing as Brazil boosts the largest iron ore mining company in the world he can be Andre " The Iron Giant " Rienzo. We had a Bronze Titan and have a Tank . I think i like it better than just "The Giant" seeing as I like The Iron Giant movie better than the wrestler. this post has been caulfielded. (caulfeld?)
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) I actually don't hate that as a topic. I dont mind it as a mention. ESPN is making it a story. He shaved his head because his hair was going away, thanks now lets move on *true words spoken from a fellow balding man*
  7. I am excited for Edgar Wright going forward. I think Ant Man is going to kill it

    2013 TV Thread

Im just biding my time until Agents of SHIELD starts. Shortly after that is Walking Dead, then Shameless, then GoT. Dexter is almost done, but I havent been nearly as focused on that as I usually am
  10. QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 09:51 AM) I know this topic has been brought up numerous times over the year, and several times over the last 60 days, but again how is this guy not a hot commodity right now? He hasn't really slowed down much since May 31st, and although his power numbers have dipped since the ASB he is still productive. Is this a case of just pure caution? Is it his contract? Is it just teams holding off until the very last minute to avoid giving their competition a chance to react? I guess I'm just surprised by the lack of activity. Maybe not surprised nothing has happened but to just hear crickets regarding any trades at all. The whole story at the deadline was the deadline is too early now because of the 2nd wild card and too many teams were in the race so the August deadline would have some excitement. Now I think it is more defined as to who is in it and it is too quiet. Hey, we are arguing about gambling here. Any attempts to stay on thread topic will be ignored and further subject to instant banning
  11. QUOTE (TheBigHurtIsBack @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) Once again... it has nothing to do with him PLAYING. Gambling has nothing to do with playing ability. This seems to be difficult for you to grasp for some reason. Sports players are not bound to being role models. I think Barry Bonds is a piece of s*** but had he never come under the suspicion of steroids you'd better believe he'd be deserving of being in the hall of fame. Was what Rose did disgraceful? Absolutely. Did it, at all, illegally alter or affect what he did on the field? No. What you do as a player on the field is first and foremost what is most important, otherwise the HoF is irrelevant. Sorry, but having a different viewpoint does not make me wrong. That's like saying that something simply being a rule or a law automatically makes it right. That's some very naive thinking. Pete Rose is the all-time hit leader and nothing suggests he went to anything illegal to do so, merely ability. He should be in the HoF. That's my opinion. Im sure a compulsive gambler wouldnt do anything to affect a bet he made when he has full control of the game. Nothing at all. We all grasp what you are saying, Pete Rose got a lot of hits therefore he should be in the hall of fame. Unlike you, we also grasp the fact that Rose broke multiple rules that make sure he will never be in the hall of fame. Shoeless Joe is in the same category.
  12. Last I checked, Pete rose gambled on a game he played IN THE FIELD. And also gambled on a game he managed ON A FIELD. So, all of his hits aside, what he did affected what happened ON THE FIELD, thus canceling his chance to get in the hall of fame. You don't have to agree. That's the way it is. You are wrong, Pete Rose was wrong, the Hall of Fame is right.
  13. QUOTE (TheBigHurtIsBack @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 05:16 PM) I don't give a flying f***. Being in the HoF is about what you did as a PLAYER. Sports stars are not role models by default; that it their decision. Based on what he did as a BASEBALL player, he should be in the BASEBALL HoF. Period. Absolute nonsense if EVER I have heard it. Like I said, you are in the baseball HoF because of what you did as a baseball player. PED's can alter your natural ability and help you put up artificial numbers as a player. Obviously gambling does not. Sorry wite, but I can't do anything but laugh at a post this silly. Once again, AS A PLAYER, he gambled on games, affecting outcomes. He broke the first rule in baseball and is paying for it.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) How can you be a Sox fan and say those things about Ozzie? Pretty harsh. I mean this is big boy sports. We won it all finally cause we had a big boy manager. Ah, a big boy manager who used his sons twitter account and a hack journalist to rip on his employer. Thats pretty big boy
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) This response makes me angry. when you scream angry unintelligable things at Garpax, it sounds like "RRRRZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!"
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) So there are a ton of rumors that Miami is about to get hit with sanctions. scrub, rinse, repeat
  17. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 01:07 PM) Is that true? Did he bet on games he played in? he was a manager/player at the end.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 08:58 AM) My favorite games of all-time get another sequel, and this one looks absolutely glorious. I like how Bane is Bane now, and not some gigantic two-story freak that makes dinosaur roars. It looked like the knightfall back breaking scene was happening in that trailer
  19. QUOTE (TheBigHurtIsBack @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 11:48 PM) Amen. Does anyone really give a f*** about what he did? Did he cheat at the game? Did he take PEDs? Unless something he did unfairly impacted what he did as a player, it shouldn't matter. Period. Pete Rose should be in the HoF, no question. As far as greg goes, why does anyone even bother trying to reason with him anymore? Lost cause if there ever was one. Well, he gambled on games that he played and managed in. So, yeah, you could say it was unfairly impacted.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 12:04 AM) well, if he was sitting around now with a 700-750 OPS, I do think the thread would be a BIT more active....don't u? active how? Meaning you would be posting more articles?
  21. The Arkham Origins trailer is awesome http://kotaku.com/bam-pow-its-a-dramatic-n...5558?autoplay=1
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) Yeah, but he also has > 600 home runs. Remember when Bonds was near the end of his career and nobody was willing to offer him a contract despite the fact that he would have been one of the best offensive producers in baseball for like $10 million a year? I think a big distinction here is that Dunn would have presumably done it without PEDs. Bonds, Pujols and Arod would be first ballot without thinking twice if they didnt have the steroid issues hanging over their heads
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) But he almost has 3000 hits! only 800 away, lol
  24. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 03:29 PM) Dude. Greg's point is that it's unprecedented how a guy who might reach 600 home runs can't even be given away. 15 million dollars for 40 hrs and 100 RBIs. Bad ass "production" as many claim yet 29 other teams say hell no. How is that not unprecedented? Examples please. All bashing aside. Dude, gregs point is always "this guy makes blah blah money he is a bum i dont like him he isnt Konerko because I love him why didnt anyone trade for him?" you cant automatically assume anyone is going to take on his contract. Just because he has a chance to hit 600 homeruns doesnt mean that teams should line up and take on his contract. IF he hits 600 homeruns, he will most likely be considered very heavily for the hall of fame. That doesnt mean I think he will hit that many, because a lot of things have to fall in place in order for him to do that. He has to stay healthy, he has to stay productive, neither of those are guaranteed.
