  1. TNA made a big mistake handing the keys to the car to bischoff and Hogan. Those two put the focus on themselves instead of the product and now TNA has one foot in the grave.
  2. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 09:12 AM) This makes sense is if contending GMs are viewing Garza as a strict rental. But Garza has 1100 career innings, whereas, Peavy is at 1900. That's a pretty enormous difference in mileage. But there's no question that Peavy is more valuable as far as this particular season is concerned. Side note - when wite was discussing Samardzija, he got hung up on his age (28) when he should have checked his career IP (475). So his arm is what, 25? Do his minor league and college innings not count?

  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 06:20 PM) What they need to do is work on their efficiency so that they can throw 8 or 9 innings on fewer pitches. This is particularly true for Santiago. But there's no reason to throw these guys 110+ innings. Going more innings is the goal - not throwing more pitches. The Sox lead the league in high inning starts and I am not to the point where I think that Robin Ventura knows more than his peers. Do you think the Sox prefer high pitch count, innefficient games from their starters? Your entire premise is based on your grudge against the coaching staff
  5. There is 12 days left, people are probably trying to drive up costs
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) I'll stop now. I can't get my point across. My final statement in regard to your post: I am saying NO PLAYER should get that kind of money. That owners should ASSUME the injury issues will happen or something will happen. I was trying to make the point that teams CONSTANTLY are trying to dump players almost immediately after signing them to huge contracts. My solution: DON'T SIGN THEM TO BIG CONTRACTS TO BEGIN WITH. Since I can't get my point across, I'll stop. There will always be an owner ready to flash his cash in order to have the best available players.
  7. Tim Hudson (6-7 4.02 ERA) vs John Danks (2-6 4.31 ERA) Need more cowbell
  8. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 12:26 PM) Mark Buehrle lol MBINAA
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 12:22 PM) Often they are. But they aren't routinely pitched 115 innings plus like Ventura pitches our pitchers. Pitching their arm off isn't how they became aces. Really? Which Aces dont?
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 12:14 PM) I'm just not convinced that one playoff series in 2011 was enough to evaluate the potential of this team, which is better than it was in 2011. the problem is that players like Deng and Carlos are what they are. You arent going to see those two get tremendously better, and with Carlos you could see him drop off or revert back to his injury issues. Im not advocating a trade simply to make a trade. I want the FO to make a move to make this team better and stop dangling the carrot.
  11. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) Yes. We don't need him as an innings eater. We need him as an ace, front of the rotation starter. And our other young pitchers should be ridden less as well. This team doesn't exist so that Ventura and Cooper can scratch out 70 wins instead of 65 Aces are usually one and the same
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 11:26 AM) Not really since that wouldn't be 1:1000000000000, it'd be 1:0, undefined, you can't divide by zero LOOK AT THE BRAINS ON BRAD!
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:43 AM) My non-sensationalist revision would be, "some folks in here would rather risk getting worse by making a splash than staying the same. Others of us (and apparently the FO) would rather wait for the move(s) that make us better beyond a shadow of a doubt." And apparently they(and you) seem happy with the status quo. I want the Bulls to win it all, not "be good enough to compete and maybe pull it out if certain other players get injured and our players dont get injured" It isnt sensationalist to want the Bulls to be better. If I were to say anything was sensationalist, i would say it was your opinion of Nate Robinson
  14. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) Angel Sanchez or Tyler Greene most likely. Doubt it, I could see Beckham there before those two
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 07:46 AM) This board died the day JimH was banned. which time/name? Unfortunately we cant let people hang around that consistently threaten other posters via PM and on the board. Oh, and talk about posters kids. Thats bad too.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) I think that's what a lot of the folks in here want. They'd rather get worse than stay the same Not wanting to stay the same doesnt mean I want the Bulls to get worse. I want the front office to get creative and stop saying "We really like our core."
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) Speaking of the departed, today is Brando's birthday. For those who don't know the admin/mod side of things, that guy tried seriously at least 100 times to sign up and post on Soxtalk after he was banned. He was persistent if nothing else. And sadly was plainly obvious 100/100 times

    Facebook

I still enjoy FB for catching up with people and reading funny things. I had to filter out things like over political and racist acquantances, and I have tried to delete steve multiple times(i just cant quit you, steve), but on the whole I still enjoy FB. I can understand why people get burned out on it though
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 11:53 PM) See, we'll never know. I was told by a respected poster that last year's collapse was cause the Sox ran out of gas and were injured. How the heck do we know that? We blame running out of gas because Robin is liked. How do we know Oz's antics affected the team in any way? You still have to hit the ball and pitch the ball and field it. Why does Oz get blamed and not Robin? No greg, we know. You just will never admit it.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2013 -> 01:13 PM) Playoffs? Playoffs? Cue Jim Mora, please, we ain't going to the f***ing playoffs. I read that as "We" means us, soxtalk members. Not "We" meaning the White Sox.
  22. It is crazy that Camby is still hanging around.
  23. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 16, 2013 -> 10:33 PM) Sale def couldve used the car Sale would be driving that thing without a seat to fit in it
