The Official Stephen Strasburg needs Tommy John Thread
kev211 replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) I firmly believe if he went 9 innings, he would of K'd 19.. maybe 20 hitters. Had what 7 in a row before he was replaced?! Noone was even close to touching him. Shame he was on a pitch count. Maybe it's a good thing he was on a pitch count. He wouldn't want to end up like this. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:33 AM) Thank god most of those guys you listed are in the NL. I'll be jizzing when Strasburg K's 10+ against the Cubs every year. I might jizz when strasburg strikes out 10+ agaisnt us in a week or so. Watching him tonight was just special.

The Official Stephen Strasburg needs Tommy John Thread

Just watched it. I had to DVR it because I had class, and let me just say that was amazing. I am going to make sure I see him pitch every chance I get now, because that was amazing. -
I bet Ricardo would be cheaper.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 01:44 AM) see I don't hate Detroit, but I sure as hell don't wanna see them do good.. and I definitely don't want to have to see their team and Armando Gallaraga celebrate a perfect game on my TV for the next week or so.. there are very few teams that I can actually say I hate.. the Twins, Yankees, Cubs, Jets, Patriots, Cowboys, Red Wings, Lakers.. those are teams that I hate anyways, I never want to see anyone do good if its going to directly effect one of my teams.. I don't give a s*** how historic it is.. and if you rooted for him to throw that perfect game, you are an embarrassment.. Ya I'm an embarrassment because I want to see someone do something thats only happened 20 times in the last 100+ years.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
kev211 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Drew @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) There's no good way to lose a game, but damn that sucked. Hawks have a must-win on Friday. Play stronger on the puck, don't take stupid penalties. Two of their four goals came on the power play and the Hawks are not getting a fair shake from the officials. Totally blew a tripping call on Pronger, and Hartnell punched Versteeg in the back of the head and knocked his helmet off in front of a linesman. No call. Are they trying to give the Cup to the Flyers? Hawks still control their own destiny, but they have to win game 4. HAHA Sorry there is no way Friday is a must win for the Blackhawks, its not even close. Friday is a must win for the Flyers and that is it. However Game 5 becomes a must win if they lose game 4. -
I can't believe theres actually people who would root against a perfect game just because of the team throwing it.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) NBA Free Agent Slot Machine Most common scenarios for each free agent that I get: LeBron & Bosh to Bulls, Wade & Boozer to Miami, Amare & Johnson to Knicks, Dirk to the Suns, Lee to Nets. I spun the thing 14 times and Joe Johnson went to the bulls 7 times, Carlos Boozer twice no one else went to the bulls even once. Edit: I just spun the thing 4 more times and Lebron went to the bulls all 4 times twice with Johnson and once with Amare.

Joe Cowley says our season is over: do you agree?

QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) I also find it funny that the meathead contingent of our fandom believes that there is a lot of luck involved in the Twin past and present success, ie, the astroturf, the baggie, the roof on their old stadium, etc, etc. All I kept hearing all winter was how terrible the Twins were going to play outdoors in their new stadium. What these people dont get is the fact that the Twins have been kicking our ass for 10 years now and will continue to do so for a long time. They may have won more division titles then us in that span, but we won more world series titles and that is all that matters. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2010 -> 03:02 AM) If Wade is so loyal, how come he hasn't re-signed with Miami yet? $$$$

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 29, 2010 -> 02:51 AM) No your not the only one, and it is actually getting mixed reviews by people not only in Chicago, but around the world (hell even people in Canada are mixed on it) and I'm not even just talking about basketball fans. Me three years ago, probably hates it as much as you do. It doesn't bother me as much now, even though I'm more of a basketball guy. I was actually gonna hold off my thoughts on it till your post. Yeah, I might even be fine with it if they made it a Jordan 23 Hawks jersey(sweater). But there is absolutely no reason to ever put a jersey that does not read Jordan on that. Jordans brought 6 rings to this city, Toews has brought the same amount I have. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 28, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) Sox game I was at last year, we had an epic wave going. It went 3-4 times around the stadium, with lower bowl and upper decks involved and synchronized. It was great. Waves are never great. The only time I think they're acceptable is if it is at a college sporting event and it was started by the student section. Am I the only one upset over the Jordan statue having hawks gear all over it? I mean I'm not a big hockey fan considering this is my first post in this thread, but that statue is basically sacred in my mind. Obviously I am probably going to get ripped on for posting it in this thread, but I still feel that way. -
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 27, 2010 -> 09:22 AM) Neither Penny nor Juliet were season 1 characters. And Boone and Shannon reallllllly shouldn't have been there. Ya but I'm sure they had a Sawyer love interest in the making before season 1, and since Desmond and Penny showed up in season 2 I'm sure they knew who Penny would be because of how big they made Charles Whidmore out to be.

The best part of that ^ is this Obviously theres no way of knowing if thats true or not, but if it is that's really cool.

I know this is a wall of text, but its a really awesome read. I found this on a digg comment, and its in a few other places but supposedly this is from a guy who worked with bad robot and actually wrote for the show. Edit: found the link to the original one http://lostmediamentions.blogspot.com/2010...-on-finale.html

More from ozzie. "Sometimes he thinks f---ing people pay to watch him f---ing umpire.'' Oz on Joe West. and "No matter what you say, what you do, how long you talk here, Major League Baseball doesn’t do s--- for anything.'' Oz I hope ozzie enjoys his days off, but at least he said what we were all thinking.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) You didn't make an answer; you did what the writers did: shifted a mystery from one place to another. Why are the Others doing what they are doing? -Because Jacob tells them to. Why does Jacob tell them to do these things? ... How did Jacob become some kind of demi-god? -Some woman gave him powers. So how did she have powers? What was she? ... Why can't Smokey leave the island? -It's a Rule. What are the Rules? ... You can play that game forever if you wanted to. Why why why why why why why why.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 26, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) Bulls***. Of course it is the writers faults because they realized a large percentage of people were watching Lost for the mysteries and unraveling of the mysteries which is why they ended basically every episode with a cliffhanger and some new mystery for people to obsess over. As a result they kept digging themselves a deeper and deeper whole with respect to the mysteries of the island and then couldn't find a way to tie it together. People sure as hell weren't obsessing over Kate becoming a mother or whether Jack would become a man of faith. They were not obsessing over that because its hard to talk about what happened to the characters because what happens to them happens, its a lot easier to make a theory about the island then a theory about what Jack is going to do next.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) We'll, there's no convincing you otherwise, but to me I think a lot of these things have answers. You can't explain every mysterious thing. They might not have come out and had two people have dialogue about it, but there's enough there for you to draw your own conclusion. Some stuff they introduced and never got back to, but it's not like they dwelled on anything for so long and then just ignored it (without a reasonable explanation why, like the Walt thing). They gave hints as to what the answer is/should be for 99% of the important unknowns. As to the bolded, what would have been sufficient? Do you need to know the history of everything introduced on the show? Why not be pissed that you didn't get the entire life stories of each character? They answered all of the important questions - who these people were, what the island was, why they arrived on the island, and ultimately how they left and ended their lives. Thank you. For example Jacob controlled who he wanted on the island, and maybe he made a rule or didn't allow people to have babies on the island because of it. There I just used information from the show to make an answer that was not given to me. It's not that hard.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) It was a show that raised questions about a mysterious island, and then preceding not to answer half of those questions, while the writers desperately sought to justify this decision by screaming, “It’s all about the characters.” It’s not. It was never about that, it was about the circumstances that these characters were thrown into and how they coped, and what they learned. Ultimately, these characters could have met and grown close anywhere. Why did they need to meet on an Island of unexplained coincidences so they could go to heaven together? Read what you just wrote, and then tell me its not a character driven show. You just wrote in your post that it was without realizing it. Yes it could have happened anywhere but they choose to have it happen on a mysterious island, and not the supermarket down the street.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) College Humor presents Unanswered LOST questions. About half of these are dead-on and give a good indicator of just how off-base an approach the writers took in their set-up and executions of questions and answers.. http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1936291 The majority of those are stupid. For example Why did the monster kill the pilot? Why does the monster make mechanical sounds? What did locke see when he first saw the smoke? Why did tom feel the need to wear a fake beard? Thats just from me watching the first minute or so. A lot of those questions have been answered too and a lot of the ones that are not answered mean nothing to the plot of the show so don't need to be answered. Yes theres some questions in there that they didn't answer but give me a break if you honestly think thats 5 minutes or hell even 2 minutes of unanswered questions that the writers failed on.

So I'm assuming paying for RDR is completely worth it by the post in this thread.

I believe the Bomb never went off, and it ended up being the failsafe that Desmond used at the end of season 2. But that wouldn't explain how they flashed back to 2007 randomly if it didn't go off.
