  1. QUOTE (SnB @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) Totally OK with that. Christmas is where I can ask for all the silly things I want, but my wife won't let me buy for myself. Fixed
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Gottlieb is terrible. He doesnt know Paul from Richardson False. He's awesome. He mentioned Reading Day 3 times and "The Assembly Hall" 2 times. And he also mentioned it was his first game there and didn't get to see the Chief. Thanks for avoiding the "bad loss" column on the NCAA resume this early. That was f***ing painful to watch, I'm going to go pour body wash directly into my eyes. Brb.
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) I didn't say they'd win -- and that's beside the point. The Bears job, as a business/organization, is the attempt, at all times, to put the best product on the field that they can. I don't care if Favre gives the Bears a 1% or 25% better chance to win the Superbowl than what they have right now, any increase in chance and I think it's what they should do. OR, they should stop saying they're in the business of putting the best product on the field that they can. Do I think Favre with the bears would mean they win the Superbowl? No. Do I think they have a better shot, regardless of how much of a long shot it is, with Favre? Yes. I also like to keep in mind that football, is nothing more than real-time entertainment. And f*** all, but Favre is entertaining as hell on that field, regardless of who he plays for. Even if it means losing -- I'd ENJOY watching them lose with Favre more than watching them lose with the crap they have left over in the wake of Cutlers injury. The Bears are in the business of entertaining people. What they did last week...that wasn't entertainment for anyone other than KC. And that is all. One which was already brought up there is a higher draft pick, which in turn could help you win. However you missed the boat on what the Bears job is. The Bears job, as a business/organization, is to make money. Yes, winning helps make money, that's a huge part of it. But increasing your chances (if you can even prove that) by 1% by getting Favre could piss off fans, which could possibly cost you money in the long run. BTW, Favre is no longer entertaining on the field, unless you find bad quarterbacking entertaining. I don't see what fun you'd get watching them lose with Favre over without Favre. Who the f*** cares? That really adds to your enjoyment? You could also put a girl at QB next week and call it more entertaining than last week's game. Doesn't mean it's a move that should be made because it's somehow "more entertaining."
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) The Leafs are in a different conference? Yeah I was referring to old times in the Norris, wasn't serious. There's also no North Stars either.
  5. In a 12 or 16 team playoff, are you people using the bowl system? Are you using home games? Neutral site games? I imagine tickets would be tough to sell if you didn't do home games. People don't have the time and cash to travel across the country every weekend, especially if they think their team can advance and make it further. They'd save up for the NC game. If you're an LSU fan, are you traveling somewhere to watch a 1-16 game? Are you traveling for a 1-8 game? Just food for thought.
  6. QUOTE (SnB @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) New electric razor Batman Arkham City An illini pullover Walking dead comics New headphones random golf stuff oh and alcohol is always appreciated I'm not sure if that's the list of a 25 year old or a 15 year old. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) Make the Fantasy Football playoffs! Seriously though, I've only asked for money the last few years because I've been so damn poor but I've been working a decent job the last few months and just got a great job offer today which I'll be starting next week so I really don't have much to ask for right now, life is good.
  7. QUOTE (SnB @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:14 AM) On a different note, AT&T Park would be an AWESOME place to watch an illini bowl game. Too bad no one in their right mind is going to drop that dough on airfare to watch a horribly disappointing team play another bad team. Why the f*** didn't you tell me this before I booked the plane tickets for us? Please still drop that check in the mail. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) Has there ever been a bowl game where the two teams have a combined losing record? Plus two coach-less teams on top of it. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Whatever. Get a new system and you and everyone else will find something else to b**** about. The system we have now is better than anything that has ever existed. The most fairly perceived system isn't always the best. Ask ss2k about class basketball in Indiana. There has to be a better way than this. A plus one at the very least. Just because it's an upgrade over an older system doesn't mean you shouldn't keep striving to perfect it, or even change it entirely if it's causing too many problems. I went from the biggest BCS supporter ever years ago (and seemingly the only one of my friends) to someone that's just said f*** it, we at least need a plus one.
  8. Hell no. If for no other reason than I don't want to see Bears Favre jerseys somewhere out there the rest of my life.
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) I dont like how the Bruins will only be facing the Flyers and Rangers 2 times a year now. And the Jets only hosting 6 games against other Canadian teams is just stupid. There is no perfect solution. If you try to fix those 2 problems, you've got many others. It's probably the solution with the least amount of "problems." Old-school playoffs will sure ramp everything up again. Looking forward to Hawks/North Stars and Hawks/Leafs.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) Oklahoma State played a better schedule in a better conference and has better wins. The only tangible argument for Alabama is their loss is better, but their loss is to a team they don't deserve a rematch with anyway. Alabama didn't win (or tie) for their conference, they didn't win (or tie) for their division. To have them in the national championship game is hilariously stupid. And I'm tired of people saying "Alabama is the second best team". How do we know? Because they played well against Arkansas at home and won at an overrated Penn State outfit? Oklahoma State absolutely destroyed Baylor and Oklahoma, who are both far better than anybody Alabama beat short of Arkansas. I can't say for sure they are better than Alabama, but I can't say for sure they aren't either. So I have to go on resumes, and theirs is clearly the better of the two. Luckily, for ESPN, their promoting the Alabama/LSU National Title game last night because it serves their personal best interests helped keep Alabama high enough in all of the polls to play in this imaginary title game. Quite frankly, LSU should get a share of the title even if they lose. They would be 13-1 to Alabama's 12-1, have a 1-1 record against them (with the win on the road), and have a far better overall resume. IMO the Big 12 is not better than the SEC. Most experts agree, just go by the eye test. Overrated Penn St? Who did Oklahoma St beat out of conference? And yes, their loss is WAY better. Sorry you lost to f***ing Iowa St, that's no one's fault but your own. The whole winning conference/division makes no difference to me, like I said earlier you would have had the same thing if LSU lost Saturday, and they still would have been in the title game. Plus, they had the 1/2/3 teams in the COUNTRY in the same division at one point. There's no way their resume is "clearly better", there's no way they clearly played a better schedule. Besides, if LSU is the #1 team, Alabama took them to overtime, to pretend they aren't even close to the #2 team is ignorant. The bottom line is that if they never played each other during the regular season this wouldn't be an issue. Most people just want something different instead of the rematch, that's what is fueling the hate. That's fine to want something different, but to use that to say Oklahoma St is clearly better is weak.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) Not sure I'll even watch the title game, meh. Right...
  12. Coughlin mismanaged the clock in the last drive, you don't have 3 timeouts so it's do or die anyway, need to use most of the clock. Hurrying up to run a play before the 2 minute warning was part of that. WTF?
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Given the "calvin Johnson rule" ..... i cant understand how that was a TD for the packers He wasn't going to the ground
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) Bama is probably the 2nd best team in the country, but I hate seeing teams in the BCS Championship game that didnt even make it to their conference title game. Sometimes we are at the mercy of consistency and that has to be valuing the conference win of Ok St IMO. See this makes no difference in my mind. You look at the body of work and that's it. I also caught how you said made it to the championship game not necessarily win it...if LSU lost last night, you could play the "didn't even win the conference!" argument going. Which again, I don't think matters. I didn't want the rematch either and said as much in the thread. But then everyone else played themselves out of it. If that's what we get, that's fine.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) This x100. If it is LSU and Bama again, it soldifies my hatred of college football. Not one person can convince me that Alabama should be in that game over OK State. I can't believe you're serious. Of course, you don't watch much college football anyway. Iowa St > LSU?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) If it were actually ridiculous, then those last 15 bowls wouldn't make money. If you don't want those bowls to exist, then don't spend the week before Christmas watching bowl games. We're all going to do it anyway. You watch all the s***ty bowl games? But just because they make money doesn't make the concept ridiculous. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Wow, sucks to see the Big 10 title decided on that call. Decided on a correct call though
  17. Somehow LSU is still in this game with zero first downs and 12 yards. Georgia's also literally dropped 11 other points.
  18. It's not his game. He took a ton against Maryland too. He seems to just get it there and shoot it regardless of how much time is on the clock or if he can dribble drive or pass off it. Don't need him shooting threes until he gets his one a game, not worth it.
  19. Bowl games for 6-6 (or 6-7) teams is ridiculous. As Herbstreit said, it's little league and everyone gets a trophy. It's become ridiculous how many games there are. I like how Conference USA lost 17 million dollars today. Oops.
  20. That's getting it done right there. Nice game. However Griffey please stop chucking threes.

    i am drunk

Dear Rowand 44, Go f*** yourself. Seriously f*** you. Love you, Illinikrush PS SnB is a douche.
  22. That's a whole other issue...the fact that ESPN sat on this s*** for this many years. They look like a bunch of assholes talking about "journalistic integrity" and all that other bulls***.
  23. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) I dont think the Illini are ready for the Big Ten yet so I'm going to say no, maybe if they beat Gonzaga tomorrow I'll change my mind. Damn today's Friday?
  24. 7th grade is a good time to learn a lesson like this. If you don't take a stab at teaching him something now, no one will, and when he gets to HS, it might be an even bigger problem. In the grand scheme of things, it's a meaningless 7th grade soccer game. Even if he was the whole team and you have zero chance without him (which isn't the case, just saying), it doesn't matter. You're teaching every kid a team on the lesson - I know they aren't the ones at fault, just the one - but things like that go a long way towards helping everyone, hopefully him in particular. It's one thing to hog the ball, I think it's even more of a problem that he thinks he's above helping with things like cleaning up and labeling other, lesser players ballboys.
