Look if the company line is really "we knew this was a rebuild from the beginning" it was criminal neglect to not trade Luis Robert after the 2023 season. That was always going to be his peak value, even if he kept hitting, because of all of the low early salaries and years of control left in that deal. If you didn't back up the truck for him then, his injury history was always going to be a concern. But that was the absolute top, even without the benefit of hindsight, keeping a guy like this if you knew this was going to be a disaster of a rebuild looks even worse.

White Sox making best swing decisions in MLB so far
southsider2k5 replied to almagest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is the kind of dive I was hoping to see. They aren't swinging is too simple of a statement to matter. With a lot of new players, the first question should be WHO is swinging less, quickly followed by is this affecting guys who should be swinging more and/or harder. If it because the guys who can't hit we brought in aren't swinging it isn't very meaningful. If it is because yhe guys who needed to reduce their zones, reduced their zones, it could be meaningful. If it is causing guys who should be aggressive to be less aggressive and take less aggressive swings, it could be meaningful in a bad way. -
4/9 Sox @ Guardians 5:10PM CT
southsider2k5 replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in 2025 Season in Review
When it comes to great ways to prove this management team is different than the last one, reducing the amount of soft tissue injuries and not playing guys who are obviously hurt would be two great places to start. -
If he's swinging at someone over that, he's got major problems.
-
Holy crap, I wonder what was said to trigger that?

More accurately another guy our player development couldn't do anything with. -
Teams don't typically lose 121 games in the first year of a rebuild. Look it up.

It's why the need to scapegoat every one but Getz is so important to them.
-
You heard it here first, 13 ABs is enough to take a victory lap.
-
Getz WAS the smoking crater of Hahn/Williams.
-
By the stories being told, Getz undermined the existing management to get that job.

Crochet Trade Outcome Tracker
southsider2k5 replied to Look at Ray Ray Run's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I thought the package was basically fair, though it would have been nice to do better on the back end of the deal. But that being said, measuring this trade two weeks into the season based on MLB stats only is absurd. It will be years before we REALLY know what we got back. -
There are a billion relievers cycled through the DFA turnstyles they could have brought in. They also could have ran out there any of our AAA failed starters, or a guy like Addison Coffey that they don't seem to have interest in, but who has had MiLB success. There were plenty of cheap options.

Former White Sox winning with other teams.

McCaskey made it to 102, which 8s 15 years older than Jerry.

The party's are too lame.

Look, for 25 of the 26 players on the White Sox roster, I would love to see them succeed, despitethe odds. The 26th gives me joy to see him fail. Also
-
Except for the whole pitchers arms falling off thing.
-
Likely? Uh, sure.
-
Because when I look at this roster I think, damn why don't we have enough 30 something's who won't be around when we have a chance of being good to block the guys who should be getting opportunities. Thank god He Getz Us.

It's also very scary that the company line seems to be their player development can only develop a very narrow focus of players, and doesn't seem to have the ability to do anything with most, even very highly talented and thought of players. We are talking about multiple consensus first round draft picks, but somehow this organization isn't able to do anything with them. That's a big red flag to me.
-
And it isn't even just the actual prospects. It is how they are being used (or neglected). It is who is playing at the major league level, and who isn't. This franchise has a weird older utility player fetish that seems to have survived both Kenny and Rick, and still exists for Chris. Hell maybe that is some weird Jerry thing for it to still be going.
-
No they don't. They see what is actually in the system, and how it translates into nothing even close to covering all of the major league holes we have.
