  1. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Guys, there's no way we'd be getting Pineda, Severino or any other player (ie Judge) who's on the Yankees 2017 major league roster. If 125+ pages of this topic has taught us anything, it's that no team is going to include anyone on their actual roster + super sweet prospects for a sweet addition to their roster. The only exception we maybe have to that so far is Reynaldo Lopez, who was prob a bullpen piece for Washington. I think you'd have to look at some combo of guys 1-2 years away like Torres, Frazier, Rutherford, etc. with depth pieces like Andujar, Kaiperan, etc. And that's fine. It just means that they need to pay up in terms of their top 10. The discussions at this stage are more about options for building a deal, and not the actual details of the deal. It is all speculation at this point. There is no right or wrong answer here.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) I agree. I actually think putting Jones in the closer role would have had more downside then upside. We all know there are certain players who just can't close (for whatever reason) and if Jones had a few bad outings, it could have hindered his trade value a lot more then the potential upside from a solid couple months (imo). Jones value should be high, the only real question is how much of a negative in trade value is his injury history. Jones is very high on my list of guys we should move now. With what relievers are being traded for, I would rather see him moved that Quintana. Starters will always have high value, set up men? I find it hard to believe.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Torres isn't really close to being ready so it's pretty irrelevant for a few years. He would continue playing short stop until he was close to coming up. Great problem to have. Acquire the best talent even if there is already depth at that position and sort it out later. CF's and SS's are great because they are the easiest to move to other positions.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) Torres, Rutherford, Andujar and Tate. Sound about right for Q? I'd take it for sure. Thought it would be intersting to see what the Sox think of Severino.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) It doesn't seem like there is a large market of teams selling out to win right now. That will change at deadline. I would love to know if Sox feel regret holding onto Drob at deadline last year after seeing his market this offseason or if it was largely the same. Washington seemed like the biggest one.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) Yankees might be the weirdest team in the AL. Them and the Orioles I guess. They say they're going to compete but their rotation isn't going to cut it against the class of the AL. Tanaka, Sabathia, Pineda, Severino and what exactly? That's not getting you anywhere. I'd do Quintana for something based around Rutherford ++. I thought Rutherford was a top three prospect in the draft last year. Collins was a safer pick, but Rutherford is big time ceiling. The Yankees are a great fit. You can start a deal with one of the OF's (Frazier/Rutherford/Judge) and one of the SS's (Torres or Mateo) and be off to a great start. After that you have a guy like Miguel Andujar at 3B, or even if you think the shine is off of a Severino and the Coop squad thinks he is legit get him in the deal. The Yankees also have some arms that could close a deal at the end of it.
  7. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) Hey a new rumor!!! Jon MorosiVerified account ‏@jonmorosi #Yankees interested in Jose Quintana, source says, and they have the sort of prospects #WhiteSox are looking for. @MLB @MLBNetwork link Now we are talking. The Yankees are the type of team I would love to have involved. Tons of great prime position prospects.

  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Which to me means, why even try. Just wait until the deadline..see if he kicks butt and if he does, you can get more for him. It isn't like payroll is a major issue. Yep. Hold him. You have two years with him. Bet on a rebound, and then someone will have to pay up instead of buying low.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) At the Eaton press conference, Hahn was asked who the current outfield is...he said Melky, Tilson, and Avi, but things can change. Even if it isn't Liriano, my guess is that someone else has that job on opening day.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) Yeah as things stand right now, definitely. As things stand now? I think it will be Liriano, with Tilson in CF.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) I wouldn't be shocked if he put up decent 5th starter type numbers and I wouldn't be shocked if he got lit up in all honesty. I had the feeling that the back injury bothered him more than anyone let on. He seemed to be having some pretty decent mechanical problems at points last season, and he seemed to be trying to protect his back after some deliveries. It is a complete stab in the dark, but I think the Sox got conned by the Padres, and they didn't want to make a big deal of it. I expect Shields to come back in better shape and healthy, and put up decent numbers.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 18, 2016 -> 05:34 PM) I don't get this...why the heck would we want to fire him now? Yeah, it is really easy to argue that the Bears are a few plays and their starting line up away from the playoffs. They have quite literally given away three games they should have won even with this s*** squad they have had for the last half of the season. The defense is a legitimate top 10 defense right now, even missing a couple of players. Give the offense a quarterback, even an OK offensiveline, plus receivers that don't absolutely suck, this is a team that could win 10 games. Fox has advanced this team a ton in just under two seasons.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 18, 2016 -> 10:20 PM) Eh.. Nate Jones arguably has more with what good bullpen pieces are fetching in trades. It'd be pretty convincing to argue the same for Jennings with the prices that relievers are getting right now.
  16. 32 starts 9-14 208 IP 165 K 88 BB 4.08 ERA
  17. For a few million dollars, or less, I wouldn't be opposed. It might even move Avi out of town.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 18, 2016 -> 10:13 PM) I still cannot believe that Houston would do everything else they've done this offseason, watch Boston get Sale, and then say "we've done enough" when a pitcher like Quintana is sitting there waiting for them and their rotation is that questionable. Houston is a strange case. They totally buy into whatever the numbers tell them, no matter what. They have a history of doing some odd things.
  19. That Hino blind backhander for the GWG was a highlight reel goal.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) What's wrong with a Rodon-esque pitcher? His talent is absurd. He's no Danks.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) For some reason Danks was a huge scapegoat on this board, kind of the reason for Sox rotten-ness according to the fans. Fans on this board despised him I guess cause he made a lot of money and didn't earn it cause of injury. It's always amazed me how fans get mad at guys who make the money and suck. If it wasn't Danks it's somebody else getting the money and not earning it. I don't care if Jerry loses some money here and there. He's still going to charge exorbitant prices for parking and hot dogs and everything else. Danks was despised more than Robin and I don't get that at all. Like I said, year before last he was good the second half. I mean there was no outcry to get rid of Shields and he was miserable. We've also had so many bad relievers and spot starters the last few years. Danks pitching was almost as bad as this post.
  22. While he is right, he is also showing his lack of common sense by making this a thing. Apparently common sense isn't a thing for Chapman.
  23. Yeah, hopefully we don't see Collins for a few years, because that means he stuck defensively at Catcher.
  24. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) No. I don't give a f*** if anyone cares, to be completely honest. What I do give a f*** about is every time I sign on I see negativity/sarcasm rather than posters contributing anything of substance in threads - instead basically posting "ah who gives a s***, guy blows" or "what a loss". If you don't care, don't post. Then why respond and start calling people names?
