Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS
southsider2k5 replied to soxfan18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't remember it's name anymore but the Astros stadium is just wild. -
The Popemobile needs the L flag.
-
The story was TLR got paid something like $3 mil to be here. No word on what he is doing now. The rest? Yeah, no.
-
Lazy huh? Venable got a what? Promotion. Bannister? Promotion. McKiven? Promotion. The last dude you listed somehow took a demotion, which is probably telling, but sure. That's one out of four for your listicle.
-
Why would I say the Sox are cheap? Are you serious? And then you listed a literal promotion who had never been a MLB manager as dude number 1 on your listicle.
-
The Sox aren't going to outbid someone so as to hire away a top candidate so that probably limits them to promotions (internal or external) or already jobless candidates.
-
Now this is a valid takeaway, and it's why the end of the Jerry Reinsdorf era can't come soon enough.
-
They didn't have TV money for like half of this season. Again, I do not know why this person decided comparing 2025 payroll to 2024 revenue was smart, but here we are.
-
The sale can't happen until 2029, so it is already built in.
-
If you listen to the 20 minute interview I posted in the other thread, Jerry went to Ishbia to set this deal up, so he was most responsible for killing the Twins deal. With retrospect, I have no idea if it happens or not without luring Ishbia back to the Sox, but Jerry initiated this deal to sell for one reason, and one reason only. He needed capital to stem operations losses.

Also this was linked in the article, and it is a spectacular listen on the team sale and transition.

Sox 10th ranked farm system in hit+ per Baseball America

Glad to see someone moving them up. -
Johnson is a nut, and I love it.

Yeah, it was weird. Daniels cost Washington that game, and not a peep. It's almost like it is cool to be on Caleb's case, so guys pile on. Dude did what he needed to do last night.
-
It does. I will say this clearly, again. Jerry Reinsdorf had to prematurely bring on a new buyer for a capital infusion to pay for operations losses turning into operations debt. YOU DON'T ACCUMULATE DEBT FOR PAPER LOSSES! No is is faking losses by faking debt and pissing away interest payments. This is real.

Well Swift was finally worth a roster slot

First off, I am not sure why this guy is comparing 25 payroll to 24 revenue. 2nd, Forbes does. Note 5 years off losses. I am going to put more trust in them vs bitter fans.
-
No, it isn't. Payroll is not a teams only expense, far from it. It's not a complete comparison. It would be like comparing your paycheck to your car payment and then calling yourself rich.
