  1. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 11:08 PM) As a part of the Sox organization, correct? Using this as a standard, apparently no one can be hired, because as soon as they are here for some minimal amount of time, they become part of the "organization" which means they get some brain eating virus which ends their baseball acumen. Nevermind the fact that for over 50 years, he wasn't the organization.
  2. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 07:30 AM) Oh no? 1983 - White Sox first Chicago baseball team to draw two million fans. 2006 - Sox max out on season ticket packages, draw just short of three million with nearly 60 sell outs that season. Only the reduced capacity of the ballpark due to Reinsdorf lopping off the top eight rows of the upper deck a few seasons prior prevents the Sox from blowing attendance records out of the water that year. So what happened in 2008? 2012?
  3. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 11:16 PM) The Shields trade should not get anyone fired. What did we give up in that deal? It hasn't worked out for us so far, but we essentially just signed Shields to a 3 yr/$27M deal or whatever it turned out to be. If he can give us 200 healthy innings next year, it isn't going to damage this organization like a trade-that-gets-someone-fired typically would. The Shields deal bothers me a whole lot less after learning the way San Diego does business.
  4. QUOTE (captain54 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) Pretty clever negotiating/debating tactic. When challenged to back up a statement, just say "I'm bored with this ..I don't want to talk about it anymore" As opposed to yelling prove it, and ignoring that it has been proven a million times before. Then again following the Birther script got Donald Trump the nomination, so I guess I could see the temptation to us it.
  5. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) Would much prefer them to go completely out of the org, but this is better than nothing. And as I said before, if the Sox decide to sell parts this offseason, then it won't even matter who our 2017 manager is. Renteria has been here for six months.
  6. Is this 2004 all over again?
  7. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) OK. Show me the numbers. Do a statistical analysis for me. Prove that Sox fans are not loyal. Its been done ad naseum. Again, you can choose to ignore it if you like.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) You've never proven anything. The numbers are there. You can continue to choose to ignore them if you like.
  9. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) You mean those five times in the last 56 years? I'm sorry, what was that you were saying something about loyalty? Here we go into the endless circle again, where I prove that even when they did, people still didn't show up nearly as much.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) what stadium? The one near his home.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/782223934175444992 Have you noticed that anyone who doesn't support HRC is either naive, childish, delusional, purist, deplorable, or racist? Sensing a pattern A long, long pattern.
  12. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) Two things: A.) Fans want a winner. In your opinion, how well has ownership done on delivering on that one and only request? B.) In your opinion, what has ownership done that is right that apparently the rest of us are not properly appreciating? Even when they have delivered a winner, fans didn't respond in the same way as Cub fans did. The difference wasn't Harry Carry, it was the fan bases. The Cubs fan base is more loyal.
  13. QUOTE (captain54 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) And round and round it goes. Let's give the wheel another spin, shall we? Let's see, where does it stop? Yep! "Sox fans are bums for historically never showing up, and don't deserve the gifts this current ownership has brought to SoxLand" Yeah, EVERYTHING OWNERSHIP DOES IS WRONG, EVEN WHEN IT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT!
  14. QUOTE (captain54 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) That was due to John Allyn and Veeck not being able to figure out (with the exception of 72' and 77') how to put a good product on the field, not Harry. Yet even when the White Sox won, they still didn't do it on the south side in terms of turning turnstyles. The logic here is becoming circular.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 01:11 AM) Derrick is just dumping gasoline on his Chicago legacy. I heard somebody say BURN BABY BURN!
  16. This is a quiet weekend. High School football tonight, no other plans for the rest of it.

  21. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) I was in Section 531. That game felt like a World Series game. I sat right behind the tarp on the 3rd baseline in the front row. It was freaking awesome.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) I know, but the thrust of the article and of ss2k5's post was that the Democrats and Republicans have abandoned the center/mainstream. And I don't think there is any question that both parties have lurched to their wings.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) You can parse it if you want to. I am simply pointing out Ventura's tendency to play out the string with players we already know are lousy, as opposed to ones who may or may not be lousy, and I find that baseball-stupid. You may disagree with my opinions and evaluations on players, but I was more using Coats and Ynoa as examples of a pattern. I don't know. It seems like Ventura is basically rotating through these guys. I mean right now the Sox have 11 guys in the pen, so no one is pitching on a every other day kind of schedule. Even if you go back to August, it looks like Ynoa got a decent amount of work. He got 7 outings for 9 2/3 IP. Beck got 6 for 5 2/3. If you make it August and Sept, Ynoa has 17 IP, Beck 16 2/3. Kahnle has 17.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 07:24 AM) Probably not. So little is known about most of those kids, and stats in that league are next to meaningless. Plus there is literally zero in person scouting that is done for these kids. They are wild cards until they show up in the USA.
