  1. Definitely. There were so many transient players who are essentially fungible on the bottom of our roster. High ceiling guys are who we should hording.
  2. And less roster spots available overall because of the Teel and Baldwin injuries essentially taking up 2 roster spots each.
  3. Exactly. Picking a guy with his pedigree, you HAVE to know you are not picking him for 2026, and that you were going to have to pick your places to hide him and deploy him. If you didn't you picked the wrong guy.
  4. Yet the Sox just jettisoned their Rule 5 pick on a 5 day sample size.
  5. I wonder if he is pressing a bit after this deal? Or he just isn't that good.
  6. Honestly, what did you see a week ago, that you do not see now when we had the other roster options?
  7. In case you were wondering, $2000 in 1975 is worth a shade over $12,150 today. The Sox keep the most fun traditions alive, don't they?
  8. So much for them hiding his flaws at DH and taking advantage of his bat. Let's hope Shane Smith isn't pitching to contact today.
  9. The Sox didn't like him. For whatever reason it was, they had the opportunity to test drive him last year, and refused to call him up, despite all of the roster churn.
  10. Not surprising. He was not ready for a team that needs arms badly.
  11. The need everything. Honestly, I think there is zero chance they take the Emerson kid, because they want to get another fast mover into the system. Even their trades seem to be valuing guys who are here, or almost here (see the whole post hype prospect thing, instead of young kids) I would be very surprised if the answer isn't Roch, but if it isn't, I think it is LeBron, and not Flora.
  12. The problem is they cannot find offense on the open market. They can't tradefor it and are too cheap to sign it.
  13. The CF is the leader out there. It's his job to take control.
  14. Honestly this is pretty normal rule 5 activity. Most of the guys picked are years away, if ever. If they were close and finished, they wouldn't be available. It's why the idea that the Sox had hacked Rule 5 after last year was so absurd. Smith was a once a decade pick. Really I am interested to see if we might be witnessing his regression to the mean just taking longer than normal.
  15. MLB run differential. White Sox -21 Phillies -14 Giants -11
  16. I am going to guess Giolito would rather be unemployed than to work for Jerry again.
  17. This team has not shown a lot of life when down this year. Plus if the don't homer, they don't score much.
  18. I can almost hear how he sold Jerry on the job. "Jerry, we don't have to limit ourselves to 1 David Eckstein, what if we had a whole roster of them?" Jerry picks up phone screaming "FIRE KENNY AND RICK NOW! WE HAVE OUR NEXT LEADER!!!"
  19. But other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
  20. Of course they did, he's a switchhitter.
  21. Steve stone needs to retire more than Schiff needs to be replaced. There, I said it.
  22. Honestly, it's why a guy like Hawk with a million stories, or a guy like Jason who knows the right questions to ask, are so good at this.
  23. Too bad Jerry doesn't need a golf coach.
  24. Ah, I was wondering about that. There is definitely a TONE there at times.
  25. Anybody watched the new Peaky "movie" yet? Without spoilers, is it good?
