  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 04:08 AM) Both? Guys, I think I'm bipostual. I knew it all along! Wait, what?
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 12:19 AM) This was the Sox biggest comeback since 2002. Unless I missed another deficit of 8 or greater in the season that was 2002, that would be this game. I was in left field for this game. It was freaking awesome.
  3. No surprise there. I thought it was obvious that he was only here to fill innings when he was called up. What will be interesting is if they call up another player, or if they call up another pitcher.
  4. QUOTE (CB2.0 @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 08:23 AM) Wuh? Everybody but Eaton hit K-Rod and/or got on base that inning. Avi struck out in the 11th to Sanchez in 4 pitches. "The Patience" He sucks. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...amp;position=OF Check out his patience numbers. He is swinging at 12.5% less (5 full percentage points) pitches outside of the strikezone this year. His swing percentage is also down from 59.1% to 55.4%.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 12:33 AM) Abreu just seemed to be trying to do way too much all the time. He's back now with good ABs, contact and power. Now to get the ToddFather going... He does go through that phase occasionally, especially when the offense is struggling. It is like he is trying to put it all on his shoulders and make something happen.
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:12 AM) For one thing, Renteria bunted in the precise Point in the game where it makes sense to bunt. No evidence to suggest Ventura would've gotten that right. In fact, I don't think Ventura has bunted since his New York City sit-down with Hahn. He may be under no bunt orders, which, was probably necessary overall. The funny part is that when a manager gets ejected, they still manage. They just do it from the clubhouse instead of the bench. There is no doubt Ventura made all of the play calls from his ejection to the end of the game.
  7. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 07:41 AM) This dude's track record is strong. He's going to rebound. I do believe this.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 03:11 AM) Show me. He traded Trayce Thompson away and he's having a fantastic season in Los Angeles. Semien has become a regular in Oakland, Bassit was a quality starter before he went down for Tommy John. I think the Sox farm is doing OK right now. Not the best, but it's OK. It's not Anaheim's, that's for sure. And Tim Anderson has developed well enough to be here as a 22 year old.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) I don't know that he's tipping them, I just think he's out of whack and throwing pitches Wimpy used to like to say would say "hit me, hit me". He got better. So whatever it is, hopefully he figured something out. There is a difference between being bad and hittable, and letting everyone know what is coming. MLB hitters are good enough where they will kill if you they know what is coming. Just the simple act of not knowing what a pitcher is throwing is the difference between getting hit like John Danks, and getting hit like James Shields is right now.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) No coincidence that the only point we were winning today, the team was being managed by Renteria. We scored the first 7 runs when Ventura was there, FWIW.
  11. Completely disregarding the initial post, realistically, something is going on with Shields. My guess is that he is tipping pitches. Go back to truly bad pitchers, such as John Danks, and they didn't get hit nearly as hard as Shields has been getting hit. He is getting hit like people know what is coming. My hope is that because Shields got better as the game went on, that means he is figuring out whatever is wrong. We'll see.
  12. Shields has to be tipping something. Having seen a whole of truly bad pitchers in my lifetime, he is getting hit like everyone knows what is coming.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) 5 years ago, he would have been an awesome acquisition. Now, it's too late. Which of course means the White Sox will attempt to add him as well to their collection of players past their "sell by" date. And actually, he still will be a credible hitter for the next 2-3 years, compared to the likes of JB Suck and Avifail Garcia. But we just signed Justin Morneau to be a hero, so they won't make a bid out of respect to Morneau. LMAO.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:53 PM) The speeds that IPs sell you are a crock of s*** anyway. It's an "up to" speed which is rarely ever hit. I pay for 100mbps and I probably average 25. I get 125 on average, paying for 100.
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) Can't be any worse there than RF Adding the opposite spin to the ball? Absolutely.
  16. Bruce Levine ‏@MLBBruceLevine 5m5 minutes ago Ventura said team has a chance to manufacture some runs with Tim Anderson and Adam Eaton one - two In lineup
  17. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) No, I only support this forum. If you are telling me that JR profits from the existence of soxtalk, then you've given me something to consider. What I am saying is that the forum doesn't exist in a vaccuum, and that it generates people going to games, watching games, streaming games, etc which do contribute to the teams revenue. By participating in that, it makes a bigger overall marketplace for the White Sox by getting others deeper into the team. It is why the team cooperates with the people here who do things like SoxNet and FutureSox. While it isn't direct, by even participating at a place like this, you are indirectly contributing to the Sox as a brand. If you really want to stick it to the team, posting here doesn't do that. You need to walk away from the brand fully. This isn't the 20th century anymore.
  18. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) I don't watch games, I don't click on articles, and I don't spend one penny on them in any shape or form. That will have to be good enough. But you are here talking about them, and probably other places to.
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) If that's the case, DH Melky and have Coats in RF and Avi in LF. Coats should atleast be playing defense in this situation. Eh, no thanks. The idea of putting Avi into a position he doesn't play just scares me.
  20. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) This is perfectly stated, and I agree !00%. Kudos to you for refusing to support this sham of an organization. Do you all want change? Quit spending money on the White Sox. If everyone on this board decided to boycott the organization for the foreseeable future, you would be shocked at how swiftly Reinsdorf would respond. But as long as he is making money, the s*** show will continue. In the 21st century, it isn't that simple. Watching games, clicking on articles, talking about the team, etc, are all revenue streams for the organization. If you are talking about a real boycott, do it right.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Yeah that really doesn't make sense unless they are trying to up the trade value of Garcia somehow The other idea could very well be the old Frank Thomas idea that he hits better when he plays the field, and they are trying to get Garcia's bat going again.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) IIRC didnt we do the same thing with Beckham? Struggling lineup in desperation mode = insert the next best thing to the lead off spot because he will get us going. I could be wrong but I could have sworn we did. I don't remember hitting him leadoff, but they did use him in the two hole on a few different occasions to try to get him going.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Ill be honest strippers are the last thing I want at my bachelor party. When the time comes that's going to be a hard cut off from me. I'd do Vegas, any clubs, whatever, but no strippers. Yeah, ESPNzone was still around when I had mine, and that was where most of it was. The end of the night at the strip club was the worst part of the night.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) Q-What do you think the odds are of Hillary getting indicted on charges concerning her emails? I'd say 40-60. 0 and that is being optimistic.
  25. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) So his qualifications of being a real MLB manager is 1 season of being fine with the Cubs. They may want to aim for higher than that. So technically Ventura is 3 times as qualified, as he has been a big league manager for three years now.
