LUIS ROBERT TRADED
It would be wild to assume that minor league deal means will only play at AAA. The Sox have churned their rosters like Amish making butter the last few years. These dudes are almost certainly going to see Chicago for some period of time, more than a few of them will see significant playing time.

There is a fair chance the dude just saw your post and shared it as his info.

Moncada back to Angels. 1 year/4 million
Getz doing the roster filling for Jerry.

Moncada back to Angels. 1 year/4 million
Just keep in mind, with that big $20 million that the White Sox freed up by trading deadweight Luis Robert, this the bin the White Sox will be shopping in to finish off this roster.

I will even go out on a limb here. If the Sox had a choice between the Japanese player and getting nothing for Robert, or no Murakami, but picking up cash to get a major return for Robert, with where the franchise is in 2026 and 2027, I take the later every time. We are still no where near our window, and these deals in isolation don't help us get there.

At the very least, the Sox KNOW what they have been offered in the past, and what they have been offered if they were willing to kick in cash. The Reds offer this winter, and the winter before this one, were significantly higher if the Sox kicked in some cash. Literally we could have bought superior prospects from them. But that is a bridge too far.

Trying to make sense of exactly what always happened, happening again... But they are dealing with things in a rational way. Those two things together is rich.

You will excuse me after the whole idea that they were perfectly happy with Luis Robert and keeping him because they wanted him crap of 5 seconds ago.

It goes to the He CoUlDn"T hAvE gOtTeN vAlUe trash floating out there about this apparently being the ONLY time they could have traded Robert, and therefore this return now can rush to be justified by the HeGetzUs crew.

We all recognized that Luis Robert had a career year in 2023. We all recognized that it was the first time Luis Robert had been healthy for a full season, outside of his 60 game COVID season, including the minors. What were the odds of Luis Robert being both healthy and productive going forward, when he had never done it before. Understanding that Peak Value Luis Robert was almost certainly after 2023, you also have to recognize that if Luis Robert goes back to injured and/or not productive, his value drops immensely, that even if you didn't get VaLuE for him in 2023, that this ACTUAL return was almost certainly going to be the best you ever got because at the same time you are expecting him to return to his career norms, he was also getting exponentially more expensive. Being a good GM isn't about keeping the masses happy, it's about being smarter than the masses. If Chris Getz kept Luis Robert because he was worry about people like me on a message board, he is in the wrong line of work. Who cares what fans would have thought if it was the smartest move, and on top of it all, he KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO BE A TERRIBLE baseball team going forward that would take half a decade to rebuild. That timeline only emphasizes the point to sell as soon as humanly possible on Robert. So while now we have to pretend to be happy about a halloween prank of a return because ThIs Is WhAt He Is WoRtH nOw, we could have done something years ago, and that can't be ignored.

The fact that you still can't let go of me is so cute. 💓

This is being happy you got scrap value for your wrecked Ferrari which you crashed driving drunk in an ice storm after you could have sold it for six figures previously. Sure it is value for NOW, but realistically, you blew it, and this was the short straw.

This is CRAZY.

This was the predictable part. We were never going to get much for him, which is what made holding on to him for so long in the first place so odd. If Chris Getz really knew this was a historic dumpster fire, the time to deal him was very obviously coming off of 2023 when he was healthy and good for the first time (and still last time) in his career. And every year his value kept dropping like a stone.

I mean he is either successful and we trade him, or he isn't and we eat the cash. If he is too successful, he is going to go FA, and get the big deal he wanted initially from someone else. I guess we can hope that things change internally after the lock out/strike and our ownership situation, but eh.

The highlight of the winter was signing a Japanese star to a 2 year deal for about 15 to 20% of what he was expected to get before the off-season started, and only because the owner had to be begged to outlay $40 million. The Sox had a bit of goodwill for about 15 seconds there, and then back to the dumpster.
