There is no doubts that this episode and last weeks are being used to build into the end of the season stuff. This is all of the new questions and story lines being introduced and grown. You can't think of each episode as its own individual thing. It is a piece of a larger puzzle.
  2. QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) Why do people talk about the government ("government" being a general term but usually applying only to the federal one) is the only organization capable of being corrupt and/or incompetent? Profit is a powerful motivator.
  3. So no wall to wall reports on the Obama advisor calling Hillary a monster today? I am shocked!
  4. This is for Alpha... sorry no link, it is out of Thursday's Sun Times in the Quick Takes column... News Item: Moses was on drugs when he heard God deliver the 10 commandments, a researcher claims in a new study. In other news, thousands of outrages Christians made death threats against the researcher and rioted across-- Wait. No death threats or riots? Hmmm.
  5. Not that I like Selig, but $15 million a year of total compensation for a CEO overseeing a multibillion dollar industries is probably underpaying him by about a factor of 10. Remember he just gets the cash. Most of the guys in similar positions get cash, stock, stock options, and all kinds of other perks that baseball can't give him.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) Oh yes, wouldn't that be wonderful -- everyone praising and loving everything Kenny and Ozzie do. Oooh, I get chills just thinking about it. Kenny just signed Darin Erstad? Oh goodie! He only gave him $750K? He should've been MORE generous! Yay yay, everybody's happy! ---------------------- I think a good part of this debate is stubbornness. I'm certainly glad I'm not as closed-minded as some people, but that plays a big part in this debate that always rears its head. It's tough to admit the way you've thought about the game for ____ years is partially or completely wrong. After all, you've been using stats like RBIs and batting average and pitcher wins/losses since you were a kid -- it just can't be wrong!
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Whatever, I want a guy who to stay and you want to get rid of him at any cost and I'm the one with the bad attitude. I actually do love the White Sox, but I just don't agree with anything they do. Yeah, that's about the size of it.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Why do you rip me then when I say don't trade Crede for garbage? It must be that winning attitude and love of the organization
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) With Quentin/Owens injured, guess who could be our LF again. Carl Everett?
  10. Good for Kenny. Deal from a position of strength. We don't have to deal Crede, nearly as bad as San Fransico needs him.
  11. QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 11:21 AM) Good catch, Balta.....too bad we all know Ozzie spews bs like this all the time... Not about Anderson he doesn't...
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) The FL and MI situation is getting a little uglier. A senator from FL is telling Howard Dean that the DNC should either accept the original results, or pay for a do-over. Dean says a do-over is all good, but that the DNC will not pay for it. What kills me here is that the voters in FL and MI, and the rest of the nation indirectly, are now paying for the poor decision making of whomever in FL and MI decided to move their primaries up too far. My question is, who are those people, and if they still have jobs, why? They will need to come to a decision pretty quick. As it stands now, the re-addition of 2 big primaries probably helps Clinton the most, since she is behind. I have a feeling they will end up re-doing both primaries, and splitting the costs somehow. And that changes the math a bit. Howard Dean needs to be fired.
  13. Seriously this is a load of crap. What planet is it that Kenny Williams would be looking to dump one of his top players in spring training, without getting a huge name in return? This smells of NY media garbage to me.
  14. Happy Birthday boys
  15. I just want to say that I love the Machiavellian aspect of politics.
  16. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) Original NAFTA leak was about Hillary Clinton's assuring of Canada, NOT OBAMA! Full Story http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...y/National/home That is just awesome. When Hillary talks about another Bush term in office, she must be talking about if she gets elected. She would absolutely start a 5th term consecutive of lies, deceit and corruption, in the Presidency, because she is already doing it in her campaign!
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) ...and how much tax money will they need to pay for new city officials and their fancy pants office complex? Probably less than what they are paying now for the bloated bureaucracy of Cook County, especially if they join another existing county.
  18. I have no doubt the Sox looked a guys in Willits exact situation when they were trying to swing deals for CF. I would be willing to bet that the Sox tried to get him in the Cabrera deal, and it didn't work out.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Sort of like last summer, when the best offer the Sox could get for Jermaine Dye was Wily Mo Pena straight up? Dye was also a three month rental at the time. Now he has a two year contract. That makes a big difference in trade dealings.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 11:41 PM) I will make this prediction, and somebody can sig it if they want: Jon Garland's ERA will end up north of 4.50 this year. Call me silly, but when something happens 4 of 6 years, I don't necesarily call that a bold prediction
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) If it cost just as much but also insured everyone, isn't that a step upwards? One of two things will happen #1 It won't cost the same amount. or #2 There will be massive shortages of healthcare if the government mandates costs without finding a way to increase supply.
  22. Supposedly the Count was nearing the middle 90's in his outing yesterday according to the ST.
  23. Its a nice start to add a good possession receiver, but they are still about two WRs short.
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) CNN Exit poll for Republican voters in TX Obama - 53 Clinton - 47. So there is another myth up in smoke...
