  1. We could even fire the assistant to the regional manager at this point just to show that someone really thinks the White Sox have a problem.
  2. Well let's get into it then. If Yoan Moncada is lazy and has no work ethic, what work is he not doing? Is he not watching video? Working in the weight room? Fielding practice? Batting practice? Is he not reporting to the team on time? Leaving early? He is not doing the drills he is supposed to be doing. That stuff is work ethic. If you know something about his true work ethic, I would love to hear it. Two things that aren't falling under this category. #1 bad ABs- Getting out guessed or having a generally shitty AB isn't "work ethic" otherwise all of baseball has a bad work ethic. #2 when the manager tells players not to run hard so they don't aggravate injuries, that isn't a lack of work ethic either. The final thing that we need to be doing less of is applying American standards of what looks like caring to non-American players. Our cultural norms are not what is normal in Cuba, the Dominican, or any other not Anglicized cultures. The way players like Yoan were modeled to react like, it not the same as what guys like Andrew Vaughn and Adam Engel got. I know the whole fake hustle, fiery anger, and big temper tantrums are the way you show you care in American sports, but it isn't the same in the rest of the world, and we need to quit expecting Yoan Moncada to act like Nick Madrigal. Just because machismo dictates that he shouldn't show he is angry, when you want to see something else, doesn't mean he is lazy or lacks a work ethic. Body language relates to cultural norms. If you feel like Moncada has an attitude problem that is one thing. But an attitude problem and being lazy aren't the same thing, and it is lazy to use them interchangeably.
  3. Hmm, not enough twtw. What a lack of work ethic to be just quitting like that.
  4. Brooks has always been excellent at his job.
  5. And Tony losing the clubhouse due to being out of touch with the 21st century was always going to be the biggest danger of bringing in a guy who hadn't been around players in a decade.
  6. When you are calling a guy lazy without knowing a damned thing about him, all because you saw him laughing, and personally going after anyone who feels like you should probably Yoan Moncada in at least a minimal respect to comment on his mental condition and/or worth ethic is the very definition of condescending. You talk about weight and work ethic, while pushing a guy who had to lose 40 pounds because his achillies tendons couldn't support him, not once, but twice, and only lost the weight when his playing career was quite literally in danger of being over. Again when logic fails you, and your emotional state with Yoan doesn't give you enough, you just makes up what you think is being said. No where did I say that Yoan Moncada was a "good" player. But that doesn't stop you from just making up whatever you need to keep looking for reasons to have hurt feelings about him laughing when you are sad with absolutely zero idea about what was going on.
  7. To be fair, I think most Sox fans are lightheaded after watching this.
  8. It just amazes me that we are still sitting here pretending nothing is wrong while Rome burns.
  9. Eh, I am going back to watching West Wing for the first time. Less disasters.
  10. What's there to hear? All you have to do is watch this team to know that this team has to be burning internally.
  11. Oh no, my condescending attitude didn't show up until you decided to get that attitude with me insisting that you have intimate personal knowledge of both Yoan Moncada's attitude and worth ethic. But on the bright side, now I am showing a ton of TWTW, so you have to respect it. BUT OMG HE WAS LAUGHING?!?!? BURN HIM DOWN! There is no doubt that Yoan Moncada has underachieved this year. Unlike you I can separate bad play from hurt feelings because he doesn't act like I imagine he should be acting, even though I have no idea what is ACTUALLY doing behind the scenes and instead am applying some made up standards to something I don't know anything about. I am also not convinced that somehow the guy who until very recently played baseball at a much higher weight than he should have is someone that is a great example of some work ethic and attitude because again, I know nothing about him except for a few clips and am not qualified to make personal judgements to something I am not privy too. And again, I do appreciate you substituting your fan fiction about me for anything resembling an actual quantitative argument. It really fills up the word count.
  12. Ugh. This is such a lazy meme. Everyone acting like an expert on the guys body language despite no personal knowledge of him or his actual thoughts or work ethic needs to just stop. It amazes me that people can watch the guy in the field and think that, but then again, people see what they want to see. The guy isn't breaking stuff in the dugout, so obviously he is lazy. Just awful.
  13. The next time this guy is right, it will be the first time.
  14. If you want to go with NOW, Jake Burger isn't available.
  15. They will win just enough to not fall out, but not win enough to take charge.
  16. Person after person keeps saying this about the 2022 team. With almost the exact same players as the 2020 team who had the reputation for never quitting, what has changed. Oh right.
  17. You are really good at putting things into my mouth that were never said. Funny how you threw out both OPS and defense, even though two posts ago OPS was the basis for why Jake Burger should be starting. Why Yoan Moncada is here and how he got here are irrelevant, just as it is for Jake Burger. It is all about who gives us the best chance to win. Looking at TLR era stats like BA and HR doesn't really help that. If you look at a comprehensive stat from this year, Yoan Moncada because he does things other than hit still grades out as a better overall player than Jake Burger (0.6 to -0.1 fWAR)
