  1. So I guess you are all, all right with the Iraq war being fought because of bad information? Oh no wait, I am sure that is different.
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ May 22, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Walker and Timo.
  3. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 22, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) He should throw exclusively to AJ only. He is a different pitcher when AJ is behind the plate. Agreeed 1000000000000000000000000000000000%
  4. I was laughing the whole time I was hearing that. That has got to be Sammy-esque for patheticness.
  5. I can't complain at all about this series in general. We faced their 3 best pitchers, and had a rookie make his ML debut while they faced the bottom of our rotation. Yeah Vizcaino sucked, but we took 2 out of 3 again. That is all we need to do.
  6. Brandon was matching Prior pitch for pitch. You can't say much more.

Finally saw it last night, and loved it. I am with Yoda, the scene where they were making Anakin-Vader was just awesome. The audio where took his first breath as Vader gave me chills. INcredible.
  8. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Even Frank's worst season of 2002 after coming back from his injury would still be a boon to our offense. Frank (2002 season) .252 AVG .361 OBP .472 SLG .833 OPS 28 HR 92 RBI 77 R 88 BB 115 SO I didn't say SEASON. I said first 3 months. Frank hit .239 and was only on base at a .333 clip in 2002. We don't have a full season for Frank to get healthy. How long would we have for Frank to hit?
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) But we are trying to win THIS YEAR. What could the Angels give us that would help us win more THIS YEAR than Frank Thomas? It's not like they are going to ship us Francisco Rodriguez for Frank and even he wouldn't help us win more than Frank. What if it takes Frank 3 months to start hitting like it did after his last major surgery?
  10. QUOTE(juddling @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) If Moronatti is jumping on the bandwagon....let me be the first to push his ass right off!!!!!!! juddling Try and get him under the tire, please
  11. Contreras and Cotts would still have ERAs closer to 6 vs 3 for one thing. I also don't think Garland would have turned the corner and would still be having his blow up innings. Aj is god.
  12. Wow. Any real baseball fan knows that you can't bust on Patterson for not making that catch. If he makes that catch it is web gem material, and it changes all of the momentum from the series. He was in a full extension dive people, we aren't talking about one of those cheesy, this looks way better on TV, but there is no real need for it, half-slide, Maggs diving catches... we are talking about a full board dive. Get past the Cub hatred, and find some appreciation for the rarity of the catch Patterson tried to make. That would have been an awesome catch, like Patterson or not.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 21, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) I believe it will be more like Wilson Alvarez's first big league start than Neal Cotts'. Great call YASNY. And you can't compare Cotts and McCarthy, we are talking about two completely different pitchers. Brandon is pinpoint, much more like a Prior or Buehrle. Cotts is wild, more like a Contreras or Wood.
  14. Try also sifting through this thread, if you have not already. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31950
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Can Timo hit that much better than him? I hate Timo, but what are your choices at that point. Jose looked horrible swinging up there. Pinch hitting for him was the right move. I think they were saving Dye and Iguchi for double switches, and Widger as an emergency thing, so that leaves us with Timo.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Outstanding effort by Contreras. AJ behind the plate again, no walks. There is no way you can convince me that his resurgence is not directly due to the Sox signing one AJ Pierzynski.
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) outta curiosity why'd they take out contreras at 78 pitches? He would have had to hit leading off the 8th, and at the time we were trailing 1-0 and needed base runners. It was the right move, no doubt.
  18. Since when did Hermanson try to make things interesting? Oh well, we got the W, that's all that matters :cheers
  19. Series Win. That's all that matters.
  20. I want to take the place of honor for this game thread and welcome Soxtalk's own Brandon McCarthy to the big leagues with the Chicago White Sox, for his major league debut. GO GET 'EM BIG GUY, we're all so proud of you!!!!
  21. 3 outs to a series win Dustin... Come on dude.
  22. Damn that would have been nice to have the hit after the WP, but the extra run will be nice for the 9th inning. Sox lead 5-3
  23. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 21, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Guillen should have Willie drop a bunt next inning. He might get on base, and Zambo will be pissed off enough to throw at someone. That's a damn good idea. Zambrano is pitching an incredible game, nothing is straight or over the plate. Try to get into his head. I liked what AJ did when he got his, because he was trying to do exactly that.
  24. Damn that was a close call. Nice to get it.
  25. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ May 21, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) definitely entertaining play by play. Here are the listen links. High speed: http://66.117.2.27:8104/listen.pls Dial up: http://66.117.2.27:8102/listen.pls Be ready for it... that's all I have to say
