  1. The title is just that, a title. Behind the scenes is almost certainly different. There is no billionaire on earth putting billions of dollars into a vanity project and staying quiet. This has all been worked out behind closed doors.
  2. The Dodgers are about to play a closer a contract that will roughly equate to the Sox entire payroll for 2025.
  3. It is incredibly obvious to me that there is a LOT happening behind the scenes that we won't know about until the big press conference. They are 100% working in the background on a new stadium. Ishbia's comments to the Pope confirm that much to me. I fully believe Jerry is still out front to be the asshole on the two big questions marks surrounding this franchise right now with the new stadium, and the upcoming labor fight. Jerry takes the bullets, Ishbia comes in clean, and Jerry gets PAID in return, but also with the flexibility that he hopes will allow this transaction to happen upon his death to avoid all of the double taxation nightmares.
  4. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
  5. There are some decent red flags here, the biggest one of all being reported interest. If a name is out there, I swear 99 times out of 100 it ends up not happening.
  6. Sounds like they should have sent us Mayer or Anthony instead.
  7. The people with all of the information to find the players who you don't know who are.
  8. And yet they don't feel they are close enough to spend.
  9. Look, anyone can make up imaginary standards for the sake of discussion, but if it doesn't have a foot in the real world, it is never going to exist in reality anyway, so why? -The Sox aren't adding $100 million in payroll until their revenues recover to support it. We are talking YEARS down the road. -Even if in some made up world you disgard the Sox financial reality, the Sox have a terrible offense, a terrible starting staff, and one of the worst pens in baseball. The cost to fix it all is WAY over $100 million per year. This was a 61 win team, not an 80 win team last season.
  10. A lot of denture cream and tapioca pudding.
  11. It IS the most important question though because you have to do it practice, not fantasy.
  12. If this was really the issue, there was no reason to rush him to the majors then. In an era of meaningless baseball, you start him in the minors and don't start his clock.
  13. "If" a lot of things happened, I wouldn't be complaining. If I got the winning powerball ticket I wouldn't be complaining either.
  14. It's even worse in retrospect to know with the current playoff structure, the Sox make it.
  15. The sense of entitlement is the reason I was never an ND fan.
  16. For Sox fans, this is all that matters for years.
  17. It was pretty obvious to me he wasn't going to start once they stuck him out there, but to those it wasn't obvious to before, it should be now. They oversold us on Taylor as a starter, and they didn't actually believe it was going to happen because of his measureables.
  18. He 100% is involved behind the scenes. There is zero chance dude has a two billion dollar purchase just blowing in the wind. JR is out front quite on purpose right now.
  19. Those guys get us no where near "contention".
  20. Almost certainly it is the subject of a rigid negotiation. Remember, Jerry wanted to talk Ishbia back from buying the Twins, so he had to offer him SOMETHING. A vague promise of when I die wasn't going to be enough, hence this timeline of Jerry's control vs Ishbia's control.
  21. Last year you were just telling us that we didn't have room for all of our pitchers.
  22. Except you aren't finding the 5 to 6 players you think we are short for one year deals. This would take multi-year commitments. If you are looking at quality players, A guy like Bregman is coming off of an opt out at $40 million a year, by himself. Kyle Tucker will be in that same 30 to 40 million a year per year, for a long term contract as well. In those two players you are out say $70 million for one year conservatively, trying to rebuild one of baseballs worst offenses. You still haven't touched the bad starters, or the disastrous bullpen guys. Tell me what 5 or 6 players, signing 1 year deals, would put this team with something like 30 more wins, because I don't see it.
  23. This game was a play or two away from going the Bears way. Yes it an L, but the Bears are proving they can play with anyone
  24. Unless you are talking about 1 years worth of payroll, you aren't even close. Realistically you could spend over a billion dollars in contracts this off season and get this group back to .500. This is a team that needs 3-4 starters, almost an entire bullpen, and 6 to 7 starting position players next season to have a playoff chance.
