Romy is another great example of a guy who just needed a bit of time to get it at the major league level and settle into a role that fit his skills best of all. It's exactly why you do everything you can to play these types of guys so as to do real self-evaluations on them, so as to capture as best you can the ones who will give you positive impacts on the roster in the future. Wins and losses are secondary to internal evaluations these days. The hope is that one of these days soon the team will need to value wins more than evaluations and we won't have the ability to let guys fail at times like we do now. It's all of the more reason to do it now. And go figure, the team improved a ton when we quit running out sub replacement old man utility players, and started actually going with the youth movement. Not gonna lie, I spent a lot of timing downplaying his season as a result of being pushed harder than he has ever been pushed before, and it isn't hard to imagine the knee problems being a result of that. It's tough to adjust from being a glorified long reliever to pushed out as a real starter if you have never done it before. I am not surprised this year was a struggle. I will look a little harder at the panic button if this carries into 26, but I am currently less worried about Dutch than I am Smith.
