  1. We've been waiting for it since he got called up. This is a guy that stole 40 bags in the minors.
  2. It only makes sense if they piggyback off of each other for a start every now and then....which makes sense if you're developing players at the MLB level, but less sense if you're trying to win a championship. When you're trying to win a championship, development should happen in the minors. I guess it could work if they're not expecting anyone on the staff to go more than 160-180 innings because of the shortened season.
  3. It's more about never being able to stretch out. If they're in the pen all season, then neither guy will be able to pitch a full season until 2023, and that's assuming a season in 2022. If the 2022 season is canceled due to labor issues (I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least cut in half at this point) then both guys are going to be stuck in the bullpen pretty much for their careers. They're basically not giving either guy a chance to start.
  4. I'm concerned that neither Kopech nor Crochet will ever get out of the bullpen at this point. If that's the case, then why blow your wad on Hendriks? This is just really stupid. Both guys should be in the minors starting.
  5. I think their attitude is: "Either we have him, or nobody does" Based on what's already happened, I really don't think they give two shits about negative press.
  6. A lot depends on Robert figuring out how to adjust, Moncada bouncing back after Covid and Lynn being as good as he was in 2019 and 2020. If all of those things don't happen, then yeah, 80-83 wins seems pretty likely. If all of them happen, then 95 wins seems likely. The big ones are the 1st two guys. If Robert is what he was in August '20 and even if Moncada is close to what he was in 2019, then the Sox should be fine, unless Giolito gets hurt and/or Keuchel sucks or something like that. Usually in a season there are a few unexpected positive developments and a few negative ones.
  7. The Texans seem to be willing to tell Watson to fuck off until he's ready to play. He's signed for the next 5 years, so idk what he can do here. I don't see Watson willing to just sit out for years until they move him. He doesn't get paid if he doesn't play. If they're prepared to do that, maybe the NFL steps in and tells them to move him because he's a face of the league, idk.
  8. Not sure where to put this, but Sox brass is showing their contempt for their fanbase yet again by insulting our intelligence:
  9. Kopech turns 25 at the end of April so maybe that's why he's not there.
  10. People are concerned he's another Rodon with injuries and not being able to find the zone. It's a valid concern.
  11. Those trades were very, very bad for the other team. Voldemort tops them all.
  12. Kenny insulted Frank multiple times on his way out. Your point is? I'm not sure I wouldn't take those guys over Jerry. They signed Felix to a big deal too. When you put everything together there are very few ownership groups in baseball worse than the Sox. As a fan, if they’re gonna be cheap at least do cheap right like Tampa and Oakland. But no, not only are they cheap they’re so damn cheap they won't even spend on amateur talent.
  13. The M's gave Cano a $240M contract so they can't hold a candle to the Sox in terms of being cheap. The Sox largest contract in team history is among the likes of Cleveland, Kansas City et al. That's just unacceptable from a team operating in the 3rd largest market in the country.
  14. I wish the Bulls could get Lonzo Ball without trading either Markkanen or White. I've heard Ball is on his way out of New Orleans. I think this team is a PG away from being decent. White would be great as the 1st guy off the bench.
  15. You're surprised? Atlas Shrugged has been the goal of American society since Reagan.
  16. About 150-160 out of the established starters and maybe 120 from Cease. The Sox know this which is why they're ok with their plan for Kopech/Crochet. The difference in running a 6 man rotation vs a 5 man rotation is 5 starts over the course of a season.
  17. No, that's not what I said but it wouldn't surprise me at all if everyone was 20-40 innings below their normal average.
  18. Do you want to burn out your Bullpen by June? Remember, they aren't used to pitching 70 innings either. This is not your normal 162 game season. Hendriks pitched 25 innings in 2020.
  19. Yeah, but it's one thing when only one guy in your rotation is on an innings limit. It's another when it's every pitcher in baseball.
  20. I think we're all concerned about that but there is talk around baseball that a lot of teams are going to go to 6 man rotations/bullpen days to manage the innings of all starters coming off of the short season.
