  1. Must be nice to have ownership that's actually interested in winning championships. I realize they're trading a lot of the farm to do this, but the Padres system is super deep and if they can get these guys without trading Gore, that's huge. And they have a decent young-ish core in Tatis, Lamet and Machado, who is only 28.
  2. This should be like 75% of the value of the Sale deal and I think that it meets that threshold.
  3. Yeah I know. The Sox don't have any position prospects that good. Maybe something like Kopech/Madrigal/Kelley+
  4. Kopech/Kelley/Collins/Rutherford is the closest I can come up with.
  5. If Jerry is going to be cheap then he should run his team like the Rays. They're a model for all small market teams.
  6. Eh....yeah. What would the Sox equivalent package be? Obviously Kopech=Patino, but idk if they could have matched that.
  7. Haha. I think Colas to the Sox in 2022 is a given at this point. The question is what does he do during 2021 to stay fresh?
  8. There's a sense among the younger players in the league that Jerry didn't treat Jordan and Pippen fairly, so stars tend to stay away from the Bulls. Even though Chicago is a huge market, they've been relegated to a status no different than the Timberwolves.
  9. I took 2 years of Juco, got my Associates degree, and still had to go to university for 3 years to complete my Bachelors. It completely depends on what train of study you're taking. With a BA, sure....going to Juco is a good idea. I learned the hard way that going to JuCo with a BS is just a gigantic waste of time.
  10. Or it could be that the website thinks that his 2017-18 is closer to who he actually is and his 2019 was a fluke based on his covid-ravaged 2020 being similar to 2017/18. If you're not a Sox fan that's a rational opinion......but we know better(we hope)
  11. Lopez's stuff is nothing like it was in 2018. he's pretty much a lost cause. If they could make him a decent pen arm that would be a huge win at this point.
  12. They're stuck at least until Keith and Seabrook are off and retire. From what I've heard, Toews and Kane have no desire to play anywhere besides Chicago and I think the Hawks will honor their wishes.
  13. Nobody knows how expensive it's become. Nobody expects the Sox to outbid the Dodgers and Mets. if those teams are the main competition, then Sox fans have moved on.
  14. Not really, Dach becoming a star is probably more important than any draft pick the Hawks could get. Now we have to wait.

    Egg Nog Poll

I've been going there since 2013 or so. Not as big as it used to be. Everything I've heard about Jim Oberweis is from the old timers who have been going for years. I wish I'd have known 20 years ago about this club as I quit playing from 2002-2013 because I had nowhere to play.

    You played at St. Charles?

Jim Oberweis was well known at my chess club for being a sore loser. Had done "The Pandolfini Move" more than once, from what I've heard.
  18. You can't be worried about both? after seeing the QOS decline in 2020+the injuries it's now a hard pass on Paxton for me.
  19. Paxton usually sat around 95-96 and topped at 99. The question is if he was sitting at 94 or topping at 94. Sitting at 94 means his velo is down 1-2 mph. Topping at 94 is a huge difference. They said he "hit" 94 mph which I take to mean topping at. That would mean he's sitting around 91-92 mph, which is HUGE red flag. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/james-paxton-572020?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb I didn't realize that he was sitting 92-93 in 2020. So he's stayed there. That's a far cry from sitting 95-96 as he did every season previous to 2020.
