  1. If he's topping out at 94 mph that would make his velo down 5 mph or so. He was topping at 98-99 before his injury.
  2. I knew about most of that, That's why I thought Korea was probably the best option if he wanted to play.
  3. So anyway, I guess what's going on is that Jorge and Colas are waiting because most of the Int'l money has been used by all 30 teams. The question is: Where do these guys play in 2021? Can they go to the KBO or something like that to get work in?
  4. I thought it was the Nate Jones buyout, and that was $500k. That's where the confusion came from. I was under the impression that the barred International pool trades included 2020. Do you have a link that says that it doesn't?
  5. Yeah.....I was asking if it was possible if Colas wants to wait for the next signing period for him to play in Japan or Korea in 2021.
  6. Incorrect. They've barred from trading International money. Also, they traded $500k to Texas.
  7. If Colas wants to sign with the Sox next year, is there anything that keeps him from going to the KBO or back to Japan for a year? I'd imagine because he had a bit of a hard time getting released from his Japanese team, Colas would be more likely to play in the KBO if he's waiting.
  8. I use that to mean fired......I don't mean it in the literal mafia sense. I use Mafia jargon...whacked=fired, one way ticket=traded, concrete shoes=slow as molasses, etc.
  9. Correct. Every team plays only within their own division. The US based teams play each divisional opponent 8 times, and the Canadian teams play each opponent at least 9 times, with what I'd assume to be 2 specific rival teams 10 times.....however 2 and 7 are prime numbers so idk how the Canadian schedule will work, as if you have CGY/EDM/VAN play each other 10 times, and OTT/MTL/TOR play each other 10 times, that works....but what do you do with WPG?
  10. Regardless of what happens to end this season, Pace and Nagy should be whacked. Nagy should not be allowed to get away with saving his job because he fired himself. If anything, it's a huge indictment of his decision making and talent evaluation.
  11. They're basically guaranteed to win 8 games and maintain the status quo now. Le sigh.
  12. Is it crazy I want to see more from Mitch? If they can bring him back relatively inexpensively that would be a good call.
  13. Honestly, I think that there's still a chance the Sox might blow their budget IF they can get Bauer for around the same price they were willing to pay Wheeler(like 5/130-ish) but that's just me being optimistic.

    Egg Nog Poll

I like the 1st 2. I think Bourbon is the best kick, though coconut rum is also a solid choice.
  15. Crochet has thrown so few innings after HS that Idk what they should do with him to be honest. They might think that it's a 3 year process to get him MLB ready as a SP and they want to use him in the bullpen in 2021, start him in the minors in 2022 and back up as an MLB starter in 2023. Didn't someone say that he's thrown 136 innings since HS? Anyway, you don't take Crochet 11th overall unless you think he can start....but then again, they also got Kelley so maybe they view them in reverse even though Crochet cost more. They got 2 1st round talents so what does it matter I guess.
  16. Like others have said, if you're going to stretch out Crochet, you kinda have to do it in the minors. He hasn't thrown enough innings as a starter. The other thing they have to do is monitor how his stuff is as a starter, if he drops down to topping out at 94 mph and gets lit up like a christmas tree, then......dude is a reliever, and that's that.
  17. Yeah, the NBA has weird rules about how draft picks can't be traded, but you can trade the player after they've been drafted. It's semantics, but in reality the Bulls traded up to take Pippen.
  18. ^^^^ The Bulls were built mostly through the draft. Jordan and Pippen were drafted by the Bulls, and complimentary pieces were put around them through free agency. Compare that to the early 2010s Heat, who traded everyone and stripped their team bare outside of Dwayne Wade order to create enough cap space to sign Lebron and Bosh.
  19. Superteams didn't exist in their current form.......Usually those happened when there were guys at the end of their career that hadn't won chasing a ring together, and all of the players were usually 35 years old or older. In my opinion, superteams are bad for the NBA and make even the playoffs a formality for the most part.
  20. You're on the right track.....but there needs to be an abundance of options for good jobs in both urban and rural areas. The country is falling apart because even college educated folks who have a decent family and friend support system are getting squeezed. There simply are two economies. There's one for the middle class and above and there's one for the working poor. And the largest segment of US society is in the latter category currently. I read an article where they claimed that 47% of the US labor force is making $27k or less per year. That's not sustainable. Those people are fracturing into two groups based on who they place the blame on for the lack of good jobs. When half the country can barely pay their bills, you have a problem. This is exactly how societal decay happens. The two greatest threats to America are income inequality and climate change. Fixing those are a must.
  21. If Stiever isn't sitting around 94 mph+ this year in the minors, then idk if he's a prospect anymore. I think they want to extend Lynn too, which would make the loss of Dunning more palatable. The huge thing is if they can get Giolito locked up.....if there's something that would count as a "splash" I think that's it.
