  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) Who cares if they read the site or not? The site exists and if they have come across it they might be amused by it. It sounds like there are 1-2 insiders on here and if the writers are smart they'd at least see what the alleged insiders are saying about things. No biggie either way. It's a nice website and if they have time they are probably smart to peek at it. If someone reads the site and presents what the site says as their own ideas/scoops, it's somewhere between dishonest and plagiarism, with a side order of fraud. That's why it's a biggie.
  2. Trading Alexei, which is fine by me, will define Hahn, far more than the Peavy trade, the Abreu acquisition, the Rios dump. He's gotta be right on this one, and I think he will be. Meanwhile i can't stop obsessing over it.
  3. I'd say the only exciting dream inspiring move would be a blue chip starting pitcher. Only two of those around.
  4. I think the Sox brain trust wants to compete right now. If so, alexei is going nowhere.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) 6 teams had more blown saves than the white sox and 3 other teams had 21. 2 teams with 21 or more blown saves made wild card play in games. The median number of blown saves in MLB was 19. Not all blown saves are created equally. There's the bone crushing ninth inning blown save, and there's the statistically accurate, but less important seventh inning blown save. I'm wondering if a little deeper analysis would show that the Sox were worse than these numbers would lead you to believe.
  6. Lillian, I admire your persistence.
  7. More Phegley losing sight of the ball. Saw it a lot last year, not so much this year. Don't understand it
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) Reading the comments on Erik Johnson made me wonder something else ... Is Felipe Paulino one of the top 20 worst acquisitions in modern team history? Is Keppinger? Off the top of my head I'd say some of the bad ones: Bobby Bonds, Dan Pasqua, Ron Blomberg, Felipe Paulino, Keppinger as well as Don Kessinger, Ron Santo. We've had some bad ones. May I introduce you to Jaime Navarro?
  9. This is about as bad a game as I have ever seen.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 7, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) So, who gets the title of Tank Commander this year? Last year it was Ax. Bellisario
  11. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) Sierra would be in the clubhouse regardless. Fake DL stints likely mean the player stays with the team. Pretty sure he was in Birmingham.
  12. Wilkins, Sierra and Snodgress in the clubhouse, per Merkin
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) Looks like we got a couple of reasonable prospects - not bad. his defense isn't nearly as bad as it looks I have no idea what you mean.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 08:33 PM) Guess he doesn't watch baseball He meant DeAza plays all three outfield positions equally.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 02:19 AM) In conclusion, I really have no idea. 7 words that could close just about every post.
  16. The question is future core. With the guys they've called up, plus Kris Bryant, gotta be the Cubs.
  17. People tend to put all of their focus on the first round, which is understandable, but misses a big point. If the Sox draft 6th instead of 9th, that's an advantage in every round. This year that netted us a hell of a prospect in the second round who probably wouldn't have been available just a few picks later. The better draft position is a recurring advantage throughout the draft, and Hahn should/will use it wisely.
  18. Both play the outfield like they've never done it before.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 09:24 AM) I imagine a 2015 bench of Wilkins, Leury Garcia, Semien, Sierra, and Nieto/Phegley, on the FA market I'd target AJ (for cheap), Hart (2 year deal), McDonald/Punto (cheap veteran bench) and maybe even Sizemore if anyone offensively for FA, pitching wise I think Masterson for cheap and with options for '16 and '17 is a must with some veteran relivers (McGowan, Bell, Perez, Hochevar, Breslow, Miller are names to look at) There's a lot here to mull over, but here's my 2 cents. If your catchers are AJP and either Nieto or Phegley, well, good luck with that.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) This team needs to get a little tougher. I think Rodon will help that cause. Can he pitch and play left field at the same time?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 12:27 PM) Heck I am madder at De Aza for screwing up another play in LF, than I am for Nieto screwing up the play at home plate. I agree 1000%.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) You are talking about a kid learning on the job at the major league level. He and Sanchez both would typically be making these types of mistakes in the minors. But in a rebuilding situation, they are going to be making them here. Welcome to rebuilding. Ok, but. He has had to have faced this play many times before, no matter the level. He's the last line of defense. It's crazy to play it like he's the second cutoff guy. Catch ball, tag runner. Having said that, I like him and I think he's done pretty well. Just not in this instance.
