  1. Today's Tribune quotes Nieto as saying the reason he didn't catch the throw from Avi yesterday was he heard Carroll (behind him and to the left in foul territory) yell "let it go." Caroll was of course yelling at Abreu so that he wouldn't cut it off. Nieto goes on to say that he thought Carroll was going to catch it and tag the runner. Even an A ball player should have sized that up better.
  2. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) How many routine fly balls has de aza drop this year. Just about his normal average. You know, a lot.
  3. He'll get a huge pregame ovation, many people standing. If he gets knocked out, absolutely the song should play. Mark won't mind a bit.
  4. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 09:31 AM) Would people hate the Cubs if they moved? Not that it's remotely realistic I hate the Cubs under any and all circumstances. And don't get me started about Cub FANS.
  5. If they left the state, baseball would be dead to me, and I'd have to burn just about all of my clothes.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) The question is, with the new rule, can you protest something that was already decided by MLB? I have no idea. I would guess they'd call it a case of umpire judgement, which cannot be the subject of a protest. That might even be written in the rule.
  7. By and large I think Robin's done ok, certainly not great, with what he's had to work with. But if San Diego let's Bud Black go, I'd snap him up in a heartbeat.
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 11:39 PM) To start Rodon's clock for Robin Ventura September mop-up ball would be ridiculous. He is precisely the player who should not be rushed. and you certainly don't waste his time as a bullpen pitcher. Surkamp is a strange send-back, with no other lefty available. There is value in getting Rodon used to how a major leaguer lives: the travel, the way they prepare for games, training facilities and staff, the whole lifestyle. Getting that out of the way now would help him be more comfortable next year when things matter and he'll need to focus on his pitching. If he's physically ready, calling him up now or in 3 weeks would be beneficial.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) Looked to me like De Aza was out. Upon further review, De Aza is awful.
  10. There are an awful lot of guys on this team that are impossible to like.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 8, 2014 -> 11:20 AM) I highly doubt there is dirt on Dunn. If there was, it would have come out after 2011 IMO There has to be dirt on Dunn. Pitchers have been burying him for 3 1/2 years.
  12. 3 innings, 2 hits ( one broken bat single), 1 walk, 3 k, 0 runs
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 07:53 PM) Any chance he can be on the Biogenesis list and the Sox try to void his contract? You think this is him WITH PED's? He'd be entitled to a refund.
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 05:18 PM) We're going to have alot of candidates for release this offseason that's for sure. This afternoon, you mean.
  15. It's just hard to justify Bellisario still being in the big leagues.
  16. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) Sam Fuld lol gotta be more than that right? Sam Fuld? Is there another Sam Fuld I haven't seen?
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2014 -> 07:58 PM) Uggla in 3 games with the Giants, 0-8 with 4 Ks and 3 errors. Putting the ugh in Uggla!
  18. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 07:50 AM) http://www.survivinggrady.com/2014/07/aj-p...-teammates.html Classic AJ There's a closed thread in PHT on this. Consensus is that AJ had nothing to do with this.
  19. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 06:05 PM) psst ..... albert belle That was in the '90's, right?
  20. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 04:34 PM) Good grief! 5 times! I know 4 k's is the golden sombrero so what's 5 called? I really do not remember. The Olympic Rings, I think.
  21. I'll trust the Sox's judgement, but generally improving our talent level, especially in the outfield sounds good to me.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 02:07 PM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 10m Mariners are having ongoing trade discussions with Rays regarding David Price and Ben Zobrist, sources say. No deal imminent. This would be a huge deal if it happened. Would take Mariners out of Viciedo sweepstakes I assume There's something funny about the phrase "Viciedo sweepstakes".
  23. If I had known that getting Wang would be accompanied by trading Axelrod and dumping Duente Heath, I'd have been more enthusiastic about it.
