from the wizard by way of SSS "Rosenthal says the Yankees are open to moving Melky Cabrera, and opines that the White Sox would be a perfect fit. Trading Cabrera would open up the Yankees’ outfield picture for sure, but leave them shakier in center with Brett Gardner and Nick Swisher. Rosenthal also says the White Sox have expressed some interest in a deal to acquire Gary Matthews Jr., assuming the Angels pay “the vast majority of the $33MM remaining on the final three years of his contract" http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/03/rose...edro-ohman.html

Every Year I Plan on Following Spring Training ... but
beautox replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) It's just a poorly constructed roster. When your only options for the top of the lineup are your sub .300 OBP career minor leaguer CF, sub .320 OBP catcher and SS or the unspectacular rookie 2B something is wrong. No matter who the Sox go with in the 1 and 2 spots on opening day they'll have by far the lowest combined 2008 OBP of any 1-2 combo in the AL Central. and if they went with Beckham and Getz? i would like to see what soxtalk as a whole think are realistic projections for Beckham and Getz if they make the team as starters at SS and 2B -

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 02:35 AM) Some Soxtalkers have requested that, because of the dearth of talent at CF, Ozzie start Alexei there, play Beckham at SS because of his demonstrable talent (he does appear to be pretty strong defensively there as well), and put Getz at 2b. Implicit in this request is an assumption that either Beckham or Getz will lead off, which I don't think KW or Ozzie want in the slightest as they don't want to rush either player. Alexei has yet to start in CF so at this point it appears that this is a pipe dream, though it may leave the most talented group on the field. Anderson started crushing yesterday and continued today, but that's still only 2 days out of the 40 or so in spring training. The next few weeks will be interesting for the Triangle, that's for sure. It's pretty much the only sore subject on Soxtalk right now. I would love to see Ozzie and KW just go with the most talented players across the board a line up like this excites me. SS R Beckham 2B L Getz RF R Quentin LF R Dye DH L Thome 1B R Konerko CF R Ramirez C L AJP 3B R Fields -

The Florida Marlins will win the world series. in a very cicadaesque manner they will win their third wild card and their third world series, 97,03,09 every six years. Going around the diamond. C - John Baker, like most catcher he took some time to develop but a very nice waiver pick up from the A's only to be given back to them, the only to return as part of the Eckstien trade. i wouldn't be surprised to see him post this line next year 280/360/400 with a handful of home runs. Hes a nice culmination of contact and obp looks to be a good #2 hitter. I think he hangs around long enough to become skipworth's back up. 1B - Gabby Sanchez, he strikes me as a right handed Mark Grace, his glove is solid and on most teams they would need more power out of their MI but with Hanley, Uggla and Cantu in the infield they can afford to just have a steady bat at 1B. 290/380/450 2B - Dan Uggla, 260/340/500 SS - Hanley Ramirez, The best player in baseball right now hands down. I think this year he joins the elite 40/40 club 3B - Jorge Cantu, Looks to have found a home i think he sticks down in Miami and puts up a line similar to last year. LF - Jeremy Hermida, Finally stays healthy and puts up numbers similar to his '07 CF - Cameron Maybin, even with his flaws i think he wont be making a trek back down to the minros 260/330/430 RF - Cody Ross, keeping in line with his career #'s or maybe even puts up a career year. Their team reminds me alot of the white sox, lots of power and strike outs and porous defense. Hopefully their rotation stays healthy because they've got a ton of potential Rotation: 1. RHP Ricky Nolasco 2. RHP Josh Johnson 3. RHP Chris Volstad 4. RHP Anibal Sanchez 5. LHP Andrew Miller Bull Pen: RHP Matt Lindstrom RHP Leo Nunez RHP Scott Proctor RHP Logan Kensing LHP Renyel Pinto RHP Jose Ceda LHP Zach Kroenke

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Agreed. The so-called experts were largely caught with their pants down regarding Lexi. The fact that he strikes out so much less than Soriano, and that he can play a middle infield position, makes him a more valuable player overall, IMO. If Alexei backs up his '08 performance, perhaps JR should rework his deal. I want to keep the Cubans happy, so we can keep the pipeline flowing. This connection might be our best chance to stay competitive with Yanks and BoSox going forward. We're off to a great start. I can't remember being as excited about a prospect as I am about Dayan. Admittedly, there is something enticing about not knowing how good this guy might become. Gotta get to AZ in a few weeks! I'm going to go WAY out on a limb and predict he'll be the first Sox player to have a 50 HR season. I Think CQ makes that happen before Dayan gets a chance.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) that and The Show is close to surpassing MVP. Presentation is already better. Gameplay is close. My PSN name is IbKillin and I'd totally be down for the Show draft/league +1 i would be all over that I was thinking about doing this at my work(BB) like a 10 or 12 person league, using http://couchmanagers.com/ for the draft and setting it two 12 or 15 hours before best talent is taken
