  1. link here is his line for the year .244/.308/.415 .723 career line .237/.345/.435 .780 Hes 25 and plays a CF i doubt it would take too much to get him.
  2. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) I actually love the way Nix is being used, along with the experiment in LF. It seems they're grooming him for a super-utility role, which I would love to see. A Mackowiak with talent. yeah I'm defiantly in favor of grooming Nix for this role, or maybe he finally puts all those tools together and takes second from Getz. Maybe if Nix can establish himself as a ML regular we can wind up packaging Getz and Fields for some needs at the ASB or in the off season. I would move him to 3B if he establishes himself and put beckham at 2B
  3. i know its hypothetical but no way he gets $50. but with our payroll coming down and this depressed market there is no reason not to go out and get all this young elite talent. LHP Noel Argüelles LHP Aroldis Chapman SS José Iglesias I would love to hear some ML comparisons for these players. I've heard Orlando Cabrera / Ryan Theriot for Iglesias
  4. yeah, eventually i see top of the order as follows, Danks, Beckham, CQ
  5. for those clamoring to get Beckham into the 2 hole lets look at what alexei has done there in 152AB this season .296/.359/.467 .826 I say this often but the future core of this team is very excited and being underrated by most nearly everyone. Danks, Beckham, Alexei, CQ, Flowers, Dayan, Allen, Mitchell once he signs!
  6. Man we need to start signing these cuban players, and build that depth and comfort level for future players.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) Lies, damn lies I tell you. See it again on the IMAX. Megan Fox on the IMAX, and then there are robots blowing up crap everywhere. The only way this could of been better is if Ms. Fox dumped that little moron Sam, and fell in love with Kate Beckinsale. Then the two of them defeat Megatron and celebrate with 40 minute love scene.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) I'll give him a break on that inning due to the circumstances. agree; he was probably told just to chuck it down the pike.
  9. The mets strike me as a team that would come calling for Scott, Reyes is down and their OF is in shambles and they constantly putting Murphy in a position to fail both in the line up and on the field. With Delgado being out as well, i think you could get a nice package for him and Paul if we're out of it.
  10. The only way we land an established ace is if we deplete our farm; and i would prefer we don't. I don't know which of CR/AP is going to stick in the rotation but im sure one will be able to handle the back end with the other making the transition into a Matt Thornton role, which will be great to continue to have young cheap talent to plug into this roster. Honestly I think in the very near future we're going to be selllers and that previously thought Homer for Dye trade goes down with one difference; we send dotel as well to the reds. The Reds need a RH bat and JD fits it to a T. They like most teams also need a bit of bullpen help; add to the fact Dotel is most likely going to be a type A free agent and you have the makings of what looks to be a good trade partner. Reds Get: Jermaine Dye Octavio Dotel Sox Get: Homer Bailey Zack Cozart or Todd Frazier Chris Heisey or Drew Stubbs I'm well aware of the sort of stigma the phrase "coop can fix him" brings to sox fans but there is a reason it gets said; if we want a future ACE we're going to have to draft and develop him or we're going to have to take on a reclamation project like homer.
  11. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) The hate that Alexei has gotten on this board the past two days is sickening. He's been on fire with the bat, and made enough non routine plays to make up for his brain cramps. If Alexei doesn't homer today maybe the mental midget that is Zambrano throws a shut out. Not to mention he tied yesterdays game for us. Really with our bench options benching Alexei's bat is a stupid, deal with the defense while he is hitting like this. If I recall Cubano has said Alexei played mostly CF and 2B in cuba so this is basically his first full year at SS let alone at SS in MLB. this cut the kid some slack. hes been on fire, and he makes the impossible look easy, but as others have state he is prone to loosing his concentration; lets remember MLB is faster than anything hes ever dealt with before, he may never be a GG but with his bat he is something special.
  12. getting hopper back is nice, honestly i think he could out produce BA and DWise
  13. honestly I'm ok with us being sellers, we've got a very dynamic looking future core coming up very soon. KW should move through the old core with no sense of nostalgia. Pods, Dye, Konerko, AJ, Thome nearly everyone in the bullpen and Jose and Bartolo should be available and at the very least bring some long term depth and reclamation projects. The sox will rule the central again in the very near future; i just don't feel this is our year, all though i would love to be proven wrong.
  14. Prospect Profiles, with ETA's, Comps, time tables, strengths weaknesses and original video
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) We are in line for a ton of picks due to all the Type A free agents we have, Dotel, Thome, Dye, I'd rather keep those picks or trade those guys for actual prospects. We need to keep building through the draft. This The sox are better off either moving through their old core, or letting the soon to be departed leave and picking up the picks. The sox future core is 300-500milb AB's away if that. Keep Thornton and Jenks, The rotation looks to be set with one of CR/AP stepping into the Rotation and locking it down and the other becoming a very effective high leverage reliever. The sox have a ton of money coming off the books next year, and honestly i would like to see them resign Thome on the cheap, one because Allen's power might take a while to develop at the major league level and two we need a couple LH bats and jim would be a great mentor on how to play the game.
  16. Nice little piece on the barons http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5061737
  17. Seriously the more Cuban talent we have in our system, the more likely a recent defector would be interested in joining the sox, and it just helps stave off some of the culture shock and builds a better atmosphere for them. add to the fact that we probably have Jamie Torres on our payroll and it makes for great advantage for the south side.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) I have no problem with becoming a Cuban national team. +1 if the sox have the inside track, all the better for us.
  19. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 12:47 PM) I am pretty sure Jose could not bring in one of those guys, but Jose would be pretty filthy in the NL. honestly i think he could bring in wood or Arredondo; Arredondo is having a pretty bad year, and they just brought up rodriguez instead of wood, Wood appears to have fallen out of favor with their front office. I think if we are out of it the sox have plenty of pieces that would bring back some nice prospects and depth. In order to get F-mart/Holt/Flores i think you would have to have Jose moved with Konerko or Dye to make that happen as both are signed or have an opition for next year.
